Is it just me, or is this combo even worse than Korny and theeeesman? I tolerate Kornheiser, because I have a great affinity for his writing, but Jaws is Joe theisman on crack!:nerd: And what mail order school of public speaking(broadcasting) did he go to?:bag: NOONE talks like that, unless they are pitchmen! I get way too much of his prattle during the week. Don't get me wrong, with all the film he watches, he is able to point out things I didn't see, or realize, but the games better be good, because that broadcast team isn't going to compel one to watch if the game is not worth the watching!

I only watch the game for the game. not for the announcer. Sometimes an announcer can make it worth while, other times they can be like an annoying fly. To me it doesnt matter who is calling, I just want to see good football.
I wish the NFL did something similar for MNF as they do for Sunday night.

You are absolutely right, and I don't watch for the announcers either, but they HAVE had quite a few KLUNKERS since MNF went to ESPN. And with Kormheiser's obsession with "star power", and ESPN's "who's Now?" crap, they sure are providing neither!:hammer:

Gotta disagree. I'm not a big fan of them trying to make Kornheiser into "the next Howard Cosell", but Jaworski is a fantastic analyst and really improves the quality of the experience. Better yet, he doesn't feel the need to interject himself to tell us how every player on the field is the best in the world, like Theismann did. And Tirico is solid on play by play. This is a far better team than the miserable ones they've had in some previous years.

Well, I agree about Jaws' analytical prowess, but doesn't anyone else find his, shall we say inflection, a bit annoying?:nerd:

The NFL doesn't do Sunday night or Monday night broadcasts, the networks do it all. It's up to them, the NFL wouldn't want to step on the toes of the gift horse.
And I am a huge Jaworski fan, but I haven't watched enough yet to see if I like him during a game. I am not a fan or Kornball and those stupid segments they put around him. I would trade him for Theisman or 3 monkeys on crack.

The NFL allows NBC to pick and choose games as the season progresses. ESPN Does not have that privilege. Espn cant just say let me take this or that game just because they broadcast the game. They do have to clear it with the NFL, usually with a contract.

The problem is Kornheiser, I like him alot on PTI and on the radio, as well as his writing, but the guy just isn't good on the broadcasts. Jaworski is great. If they dumped Kornheiser and went with someone like Dick Vermeil, the broadcast would be ALOT better.

I dont mind Korny when he is arguing with Wilbon on PTI, that cracks me up. But I can't stand him calling the game, he tries to be what Dennis Miller wasn't and it does not work at all.
I think it was last year when Jaws was in the booth with Vermeil doing one of the Kick Off games. That was absolutely fantastic. You could tell the two had a real bond from when Jaws played for Vermeil. The conversation sounded natural and was very insightful. Not to mention the play-by-play guy just let them talk for most of the game. Thats what they need, not a loudmouth wanting to hear himself talk.

Kornheiser stinks! Why? If y'all haven't forgotten already, he's a Deadskins guy..
I just have no interest. Turn down the sound and watch the game.

Jaws is bar-none the best analyst on TV and it's not close. I don't care how he sounds in his inflection, I learn something every single time I watch him, and that's all that matters.
And personally I have no issue with how he sounds.

In all fairness to the WWL, that whole "Who's Now" BS was just filler until football season. With that said, I think thats just one more reason why we need to extend to regular season by at least one game!

Jaws is great, but what was so god-awful about the Monday night pre-season broadcasts was that there seemed so little emphasis on what was going on on the field. Football was being played and the cameras were in the booth while they endlessly hashed and re-hashed the Michael Vick thing. It wasn't as if we weren't going to see it over and over and over again in the news segments. But they just talked over the game until I was thoroughly sick of it. And then the sideline interviews when the game was going on. OK, the preseason games are supposed to be meaningless, but it you're going to broadcast them, then let the folks who tune in to the game SEE the game! Those other things they talked about ad nauseam belonged in the news segments.
Kornheiser and Tirico just talk too much, to my mind. And about everything else but football. If they thought their endless and insipid chatter provided entertainment, they were sadly mistaken. I really hope things will improve in the regular season. Right now, it's a bad presentation, not because of Jaws being on the broadcast team, but in spite of him being there.

I could not agree more, what was the point of continually talking about Vick? How about talking about how good Harrington and Redman both looked for the Falcons that night? Redman looked good again last night.
Vick is gone, there is no need to talk about this guy ever again, and I mean ever. I don't want to see him on an NFL field again.
