that our punt coverage is PATHETIC  Besides that ten yard shank against Denver(and he gets a mulligan for that), Koch is doing a great job of booming the ball down field, but we SUCK at getting to the returner:grbac: Teams are getting WAY too much yardage on returns:thumbdown:

Just one of the areas of pathetic performance. The miracle is that we are 4-1

I just don't here too much about this issue from anybody! Maybe I'm just nit-picking, but I am HAPPY we are 4-1

No, you're Not the only one that thinks are Coverage teams Suck! They most certainly do, and they must get better. One of the elements of our 2000 championship team that bode well for the Ravens was their ability to Control field position. We're not anywhere close to that performance, as of date.

I actually have not noticed our punt coverage being bad, but I have noticed that our kickoff coverage has been terrible. I haven't exactly been taking notes on it, so I could be wrong, but it seems like teams are routinely bringing our kickoffs back to at least the 30 yard line.

I wouldn't say it's been terrible. But how many times have you seen the opponent call a fair catch on one of our punts? Now, don't forget too Koch is BOOMING punts downfield. It's likely we're simply not getting down there fast enough to cover the ball speed. I don't know that there's any merit to that at all. But we haven't really had someone who could blast the ball like that. He does keep backing returners up.

Yes, i have thought the same thing.
Plus i had heard a bunch of preseason buzz about how great out ST was sopposed to be...
They had a bunch of hype coming into the season and i dont think we have had one runback, and they have given up a bunch of yardage.

Pessimism aside...(:D)
I had a lump in my throat the size of Lionel Dalton's cranium after Koch's botched punt ... I looked over at MistaT:mrt: and just sighed...:grbac:
That punt more than anything got the Broncos the final momentum they needed to finish us off...It gave Jake the Flake the confidence he needed to march his team into field goal position and later to hit Rod Smith in the corner of the endzone to complete the 10-point victory...

win as a team, lose as a team. I think if the offense were even average--say, 20th ranked instead of 29th--spec teams would not be an issue. the D is certainly doing its job.
