From the Sun:
Ravens re-signed RB Cory Ross and K Rhys Lloyd and waived OLs Mike Kracalik and Ike Ndukwe.
This is a reversal of the move Baltimore made prior to its Week 6 win over the Rams. Ross and Lloyd are back on board to provide depth on special teams. Kracalik and Ndukwe will be re-signed to the practice squad.

Lloyd is a good kicker and I'm glad he is back, lets hope the injuries stop and we can keep him on the roster, it would be great to have him on kickoffs

Geez...I feel sorry for these guys.....they are like yo-yos. Have a job, don't have a job, have a job, etc. I waned to see what LLoyd can do too but I don't think it will happen unless Stover gets hurt....we have too many other areas with injuries that could use the slot.

I wonder how this affects their NFL pension

No you are right, but while we have him signed I think we should let him do thekickoffs, I would love to see one ball this year make it to the endzone

In all fairness, Stover has put a few in the endzone too, but not very many.
Lloyd seems to put them ALL - or very nearly - in it.
I still think Rhys is Matt's eventual successor.

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be able to keep Lloyd around long enough to be Stover's Successor. He looks ready to kick FGs in the Pros now, at least from the pre-season.
I guess we'll have to wait and see as far as consistency goes, but Stover looks like he could go another 4-5 years! I think he's put more kicks in the End Zone this year than his last three years combined! He just seems to get stronger as he gets older.

Stover has 5 touchbacks this year (tied for 5th best in the league)
His current avg kickoff yards is 65.6yds per kickoff.
That means it lands on avg at the 4yd line.
The number one kicker in the league avgs 70.1, then number 2 is 68.1. (only 3 yards better the stover)
If you look at kickers top to bottom, 90% of them are within 4 yards of each other, thats why you see LLoyd dropped/added/dropped/added, none stand out, they are a dime a dozen.

That's what I'm talking about! It seemed last year that most of his kicks landed between the 10 & 15 yard lines and it was driving me crazy. This year he's putting them all around the goal line and even getting some Touchbacks!!

More than how deep he's kicking it, what is the opposition's average start line from his kickoffs? Geting to the 4 on average is all well and good but if they're flate kickoffs then that's gonna set up field position around the 25-30 on every return.
I've not seen enough of the games to know how he's faring on kickoffs or how our kick coverage unit is getting downfield, but average startline from kickoff is a far more pertinent stat than where the kicker is getting the kick to for my money.
