I watched Carolina's offense go against Cleveland last Sunday and it struggled, sort of like ours. Steve Smith and Delhomme aren't really clicking yet and Cleveland had a chance to win this game in the 4th if it could mount some momentum, and keep in mind this was a home game for the Panthers. Carolina did shut the Cleveland running game down so if we start Jamal, expect 40 to 50 yards rushing because they're pretty stout in the middle.

Yes, we can & should take them. After 15 punts and a combined 200 yards total offense. Something like 9-3.

Yeah if the defense allows fewer than 15 points. More than that and we're totally boned.
Carolina has a good defense. This isn't the week we'll see the the Ravens going down field and actually attacking on offense.

Actually if you go by stats, Carolina is 18th overall on total defense giving up 322 yds a game. They are 21st in the league in rushing D giving up 122 rushing yds a game and they are 16th is passing D giving up 200 yds a game.
So on average their D is so so. We are very tough at home no matter who we play. I see this as a win, may not be easy.....but the team this year is all about the early lead. Get a TD in the 1st quarter and we will win the game.

I think it will be a battle of field position with a low score. Whoever makes the first mistake on offense loses.

a win will be huge for this team going into the bye week
i really see us winning this game, along with a combo of smith and anderson for a 100 yd rushing day. Jamal will pitter patter for the 1st quater then look for them to come in and get the job done.

The Ravens are susceptible to the long ball - and I think we are in trouble if we leave Smith and MeShawn on an island with our corners. Expect a lot of zone blitzes... it's going to be fun to watch.
For some reason - I see a high scoring game.

The Panthers gave up a lot of running yardage in their first couple of games, but have been better since then, so I think McNair will have to have a good game for us to win. He was terrible on Monday night but I think he'll have a good game against Carolina. Good enough to win, anyway. I see a low scoring game like the MNF game, except that we win this one.
This is a very important game -- if we go into the bye week on a two game losing streak, that would be very bad.

That's because this league is pretty damn unpredictable. I would not be shocked if you're right. Conventional wisdom says it's a low scoring defensive struggle with offenses being out of sync, but Billick said something about conventional wisdom once, and he had a point. It isn't always right.
I think if the Ravens give up fast and long touchdowns to Smith and Key, we'll suddenly see McNair in "score mode" and it may very well be a shootout.

Our Defense at home and a pissed off McNair equal victory by a touchdown or less.

Julius Peppers is going to be lined up against Pashos on Sunday. Who's laying odds on who's going to win that battle all day long.
Let's not forget that the defensive line of the Panthers is VERY good. Those of us OL haters aren't going to be very happy Sunday.

I wonder who wipes the drool off the film room floor when elite DE's/DT's look at film of the Ravens O'line?

LOL, I can see it now. They're in the meeting room FIGHTING to see who gets to line up against Pashos and Vincent. Peppers is over talking to Kimo and Jenkins asking if he can line up on Flynn a couple times in the game.
No doubt we will have Heap and Wilcox over there chipping on Peppers. We need to start Anderson and run him right at Peppers a bunch.

Oh no doubt. So then you may as well pencil out Heap and Wilcox for making many catches Sunday. You can't double team someone without it impacting the line somewhere.

So McNair will have Clayton and Mason blanket covered, leaving Steve to dump off to Jamal for a 2yd loss on 3rd & 8.:grbac:
Nothing like a defense dictating to our offense how it should run.
I know it has to be done for the sake of our O'line. But it still feels like waving a white flag to the enemy from the get go.
The offense needs to shock that Panther D onto their heels.[And put a smile back on the fans faces].

I have a bad feeling about this game. I'm going to predict 17 - 6, Carolina. Please God let me wrong!

So who is the better blocking tightend . . . Wilcox or Heap? Whichever should be put on "body guard" duty like Coates did for Dilfer. Look . . . if one of our tightends can help that right side protect, we might have a shot. Anyone remember Swayne? Can the right side be any worse then that (excluding of course Vickers who was just doo doo and should not ever be considered a lineman of any sort).
They need to run at Peppers until they run him into the ground :hammer: But that of course, would call for a running game which we seem to have a serious lack of. :nerd:

The problem LR is that if you have to use Heap that way all game, you've effectively taken him out of the game as an offensive weapon. I believe Carolina is gameplanning it this way for exactly that reason. Which then means you have to run a lot of 2 TE sets if you want to get Heap out there, so that takes you out of the I formation; which we know is the only way Jamal could run if he was running at all.
I am really having a hard time getting fired up for this game. Thankfully I know that will change once I'm in my seat and they're playing "God Bless the USA". But today I am just not feeling it. :(

Q-tip might be the best blocker of the three.

Pashos needs a little more slack to be cut. This is only hs second year as a starter, and he seems to be progressing.
He must have heard the wrath of the gods about lining up onsides. Also, he has not given up a sack in four games. He's getting better as time goes on.
