Peter Boulware will be inducted into the Ravens Ring of Honor on Sunday November 5th before the game versus the Bengals. Now if they just remove Byner from this ring, all will be well.

This is outstanding. Boulware belongs there. He was a great pass rusher when he was completely well.

Here's the official announcement:

The Baltimore Ravens will hold a press conference this Thursday, Oct. 19, at 2:00 PM to announce the induction of Peter Boulware into the team’s Ring of Honor. Boulware will be at the announcement.

Boulware, who was originally drafted by the Ravens as the fourth-overall player in the 1997 NFL Draft, had an exceptional career in Baltimore. The tenacious linebacker is the franchise’s all-time leader in sacks with 70. Boulware constantly provided pressure on the quarterback, earning an AFC-best 15 sacks in 2001. The four-time Pro Bowler (1998-99, 2002-03) was also named the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year (1997).

The team will honor Boulware and his family at halftime of the Ravens-Bengals game on Nov. 5.

Boulware joins Earnest Byner, Art Modell, Michael McCrary and the Hall of Fame Baltimore Colts in the Ravens Ring of Honor.

I was for McCrary, I was undecided on Boulware. Who's Earnest Byner? I never saw his name up there <I know it's there but in my mind I have removed it>.

Byner is up there because of Modell. I think once Modell passes on and the involvement of his family lessens, they will quietly remove Byner from the ring.

 for Boulware!

I hope you are right. Our stadium has two embarassments: no escalators to the upper deck, and Byner's name in the ring.

Way to go Pete! Boulware is a classic Ring of Honor guy: lifetime Raven, has the teams sack record, and went to multiple pro-bowls. I'm glad they didn't wait too long to put him up there.

Am I the only one ticked off that they've already got another player wearing No. 58? I can understand that you don't to have retire the number, but at least keep it out of circulation for a few seasons.

No you're not! I felt the same way about it.

Well, you figure 52 and 75 will probably be retired once Ray and JO leave. If they retire 58, that takes two LB numbers away. I mean, I think Boulware was something great here, and I would've hoped we would temporarily retire his number, but we wouldn't do it permanently. We're only going to do that for the LEGACY guys like Ray and JO.

Congrats to Pete. A classy guy on and off the field. No doubt one of my top 5 all-time Ravens.

I wonder how Pete will respond at his induction. Last I heard, he was still dying to be an active player in the league.

There are only so many numbers. He was a very good player but even semi-retiring his number is a bit much.

Boulware was a beast in his prime...I still remember the season he recorded 15 sacks with a bum shoulder...

He deserves to be inducted... along with a free hot tub, complete with Carrier Heat Pump to boot...http://lounge.cwtv.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
