This offensive line is NOT getting the job done! Period:thumbdown: Troy Smith had no pocket to step up in most of the game, much like ALL our quartebacks this year:eyes: I really don't think we need to pick up a QB with our first or second round draft choices:insane: ...We need to solidify this O-line with a left tackle and or a center....I've seen our QB's run around like chickens with their heads chopped off all year long!!!:nerd: Can I get an AMEN??:eyes:
I am so tired of everyone knocking on our QB's this year..It's not ALL the QB's play that is bad. This is getting so old:grbac: ,it's making me nauseous :ralph: How many QB's have we had injured this year...I really thought Troy was going to get killed out there today:eek: Maybe we should think about another O-line coach??:eyes: Wasn't Chris Foerester the O-line coach for the Dolphin's a few years ago? The year they had the WORST O-line in the league??:229031_confused2:

Then why can Tom Brady and Peyton Manning hold the ball all day long and still get a play off?? I'm sorry, but your arguement doesn't hold up :eyes: To have a QB make all his reads, he need to have enough time...Not 2-3 seconds almost everytime:grbac: .....I do not agree with you..

In some cases yes.
That can be attributed to being in his first NFL start and the receivers not getting enough seperation to make him feel confortable enough to throw it.
Couple that with the shitty offensive line play and you get what we've been seeing for years.
It ain't just the QB position that's broken here.

Offensive line has two rookies, a C well over the hill, a LT well past his prime, and one really good player in Jason Brown. They are experiencing some growing pains right now, especially along the right side.

I don't care how you do it, you HAVE to protect your QB, especially his blind side! I know blocking coverage breaks down and our receivers don't get separation, but that left side has got to be almost flaw free...I know the line is young, but we need to draft a left tackle that can start right away or pick up one in free agency...I watch the O-line almost all game and it gets pushed back and blown off the ball as soon as the ball is snapped:grbac: ....This is our major problem:nerd: and Chris Chester is not our star center either...

Keep in mind we have rookies on the line and poor play calling.

I realize we have 2 rookies on the RIGHT side of the O-line, but the problem is mostly coming from the middle...The center position is being pushed back right from the get go and the tackles are collapsing in a New York second, thus flushing our QB's out of NO pocket...I am sorry, there is NO excuse for it! PERIOD! I will not bend on my analysis of our OFFENSIVE offensive line play:grbac: ..I call it like I see it sir:nerd:

This team has so many problems, it is simply impossible to isolate it to one or two things.
Personally, I am not optimistic about this team until I see a total reorganization of the top management from the GM down to the coaches and players. I don't think our owner has the wherewithall to make drastic, but necessary decisions.
The positive is that we will have good position in the draft. I just hope we don't goof it up.

We have problems at a lot of positions going into next year. On the OL, at CB (depending on Rolle), WR, QB, DE; we lack depth at LB and safety. Really the only positions at which we are 100% set are TE and RB, and at TE we exhausted all the depth anyway this year.
I hope one year is enough to get us afloat again.
It boggles my mind that we are fielding more or less the team from the 2d - 3d quarters of preseason game 4 and people insist on blaming the head coach for our failure to compete.
No matter how fancy the uniforms and how much practice for the JV team, they will get whipped by the varsity team, 99% of the time.

if there are this many injuries this time of year that usually falls upon the coach and coaching staf, more so on strengh and conditioning people. Usually Billick doesn't break balls at the start of camp so that he has a fresh group of guys come December and January. its his strategy and For the most part it seemed to work in his favor, this year, for whatever reason, it didnt work out the way it usually does, this team is usually relatively health at the end of a season.

Yup. We were snakebit this year, in my humble opinion.
We were just meant by the Greater Power to be broken and stinky this year. Anyone who does not believe in DFI (Divine Football Intervention) need only look at the freakish ends to the home games against Cleveland and New England to see the evidence.

All three QBs this season have put up similar (bad) numbers. What do the three have in common? They each played behind an offensive line that may well be the worst in the league at pass blocking. That is the root of the Ravens' offensive woes. Not McNair no longer being able to throw deep, not Boller's alleged lack of pocket presence, and not Smith's inexperience. Put any of these quarterbacks behind New England's or Indianapolis' offensive lines, and they'd put up points. Put Tom Brady or Peyton Manning behind our line, and they'd be running for their lives and struggling. Offense starts with the offensive line, and the Ravens desperately need an offensive line (and two quality cornerbacks, and a defensive lineman who pressures quarterbacks.) They don't need to draft a quarterback, as any quarterback would be road kill behind our line, as three have proven this season.

:iagree: :iagree:
Sometimes, you watch Brady have enough time to make tea back there. Give our QBs that much time, and I'm pretty sure there'd be a big difference in the output of the offense. The plays that were called would be executed better and the hullabaloo about the play-calling would diminish. The offensive line is a big part of the problem. They're young, and maybe they'll improve next year after having had this season to mature together. But I think we need a stud center. A big mauler with intelligence. From what I have seen, I don't think Chris Chester is the center of the future. He was getting run over a lot when he played.

I am hoping the line improve to be the future. But alot of good points here. yes young and can't pass block. I would love to get a true center with the second pick, DB first.
I said before, i like Jonathan Luigs from arkansas. 6-4 305. very smart and a mauler. But only a jr. A senior player Adam Spieker from missouri. 6-3 305.
Point being, a rookie who can beat out chester at camp. And smart enough to make the calls. But we are banking on Flynn not coming back.
Getting a tackle in free agency cost money. Money we don't have. With us picking high in the draft and t sizzle, i don't know if we can afford it.
Yes alot of problems for us. And i hope we get the draft right. I for one has faith in ozzie. Maybe contender next year, maybe not. But 2009, will look good with brain really on the hot seat.
