View Full Version : We Could Use An Upgrade At KR/PR

Don't get me wrong that BJ Sams is doing an okay job, but I don't view Sams as a threat to take one to the house on neither PR nor KR. He just does not have that break away speed.

I would not mind seeing Cory Ross or someone else eventually get a look, because while Sams is okay, I think we could do better.

Part of the danger of that 2000 Ravens team was Jermaine Lewis's ability to take it to the house at a moment's notice. Sams can get some good yardage on returns, but I don't see him having the talent nor speed to score 7 on a return.

There aren't too many KR/PR out there, if any, that are available AND better than Sams. I've been happy with Sams. Remember the Brightfull days?

Very true and I don't suggest for Sams to be replaced right now. Next season, I would hold an open competition amongst Sams, Ross, and someone picked up via the draft. I would even give Demetrius Williams a look at KR/PR.

I dunno. I'm not unhappy with Sams. He's certainly learned to hold onto the ball much better than before. And he's #6 in KR.

What about one of our more elusive DB's back there?

it'd be nice to have some returns for TDs. But need I remind you of one name...

Lamont Brightful.

That there is reason enough to stick with BJ Sams.

I just wonder of Sams has the speed to take it to the house. He has enough speed to get good yards on returns, but can he score 7? That was the threat Jermaine Lewis gave us for many years.

Appreciate the sentiment -- I'm still waiting for BJ Sams to take it to the house again

BUT -- we are overall much improved in special teams this year -- # 6 in the league overall which is significantly better than last year

The key issue on our team is the RUN -- with the improvement in the play calling and McNair getting into the groove, if we improve there look out!!

We tried that once, remember? Twice, actually. If I'm not mistaken, I think both Reed and C-Mac both got hurt doing it. I doubt the coaching staff would try it again.

I wouldn't mind seeing Mark Clayton back there doing his thing in the open...
