The Good:

1. BJ Sams. I was about to start a thread stating that BJ Sams must be replaced. Don't get me wrong, but I still think we can do better at KR/PR than Sams. That said, Sams was huge in this win for us. Field position was huge for us and big ups should go to BJ Sams for his returns. If he had more burst of speed, he could have ran back three for TDs.

2. Jamal Lewis. Another player that has had my ire, but today with his 3 TDs, Jamal showed flashes of his old self. I am not ready to kiss and makeup with Jamal, either, but today I will give him his flowers. Actually, Jamal should take his OL (especially Chris Chester) out to dinner tonight.

3. Chris Chester and Jason Brown. Two of Jamal's TDs were ran right behind Chester. There is no way Vincent should be brought back to start at RG. Chester showed the athleticism that Eric Decosta was raving about. Once Chester puts on some more weight, he is going to be something on the line. In my opinion, Chester's future is at guard as is Jason Brown. Jason Brown opened up a huge hole on Jamal's first TD run. This offseason, we should look for a tackle and a true center of the future, but we can talk about that after the season.

4. Defense. Overall, these guys came out in the second half and put the mash on Michael Vick. I don't think there is a defense that plays against Michael Vick better than us. One of the announcers lauded us as the "fastest defense in the NFL." I agree.

5. Dan Cody. Not because he did anything special. Just simply because he was on the field and on special teams. He does flash talent, though. Hopefully this will follow more appearances by Cody.

6. Mark Clayton. He is about to ascend into elite WR status. His 42 yard catch is a sample of what is to come from Clayton. (Just scrap that end-around forever).:grbac:

7. Steve McNair. 225 yards passing. Another good game and once again, McNair provides leadership on the offensive side of the ball.

8. Trevor Pryce. Anthony Who?

9. WE ARE FREAKIN 8-2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am about to lose my mind!!!!!!!!!!

The Bad:

1. The way we start off games. Two weeks in a row, we are starting off games flat. We can't continue this if we have hopes of being anything more than a "one and done" in the playoffs.

2. The fumbled snaps. Okay. Something needs to be done, because it happens way too much with our QBs. We were thinking it was a Boller thing, but this problem has been around since the Jeff Blake days and it must end.

3. OL Penalties. If Pashos gets called for one more illegal formation, I am going to go postal. While I appreciate some of what Pashos does, RT is another position that if we have a chance to upgrade, let's go for it.

4. BJ Sams. Only because he still lacks that burst of speed to take one to the house. (I know yall gonna flame me big time for that).

5. Jamal. Let's be real here. Jamal ran those TDs against a tired Flacons defense that quit and also on the talent of Chester and Brown opening up huge holes on the goal line.

I think that when we get Ray back we will see the end of the flat starts.

A quick comment on BJ today. He had those great returns but one of them he cut back to the center of the field, when had he stayed along the sideline he would have gotten us a TD. Did anyone else notice this

I dont see Jamal as a bad aspect today, the guy had 3 TDs. I dont care who it was against. You play who you play. Lets see what he can do now against Pitt. I still believe that Jamal is done after this year, but he deserves credit when it is due.

Ocho y dos!! Ocho y dos!!

Hold your heads up high today fellas!

Sure did. It looked like BJ Sams just quit on that run. He was terribly winded after that run. That is not something you want to see from your KR/PR specialist. It is another reason that I say we can still do better than Sams.

As for Jamal, I agree that you play who you play. That said, I just hope that we don't get any crazy thoughts that this is the rebirth of Jamal 2003-style.

Jamal had one of his games of old today. If we use ball control offense, don't get behind early, and control the tempo.........we can dominate! That is the only way Jamal can be himself.

I still think the refs haven't given us a fair shake yet....another day of bad spots and missed calls. But then again, the refs control parity also...don't they?

Credit due to the offensive line (still sounds weird to say that) for opening up more and bigger holes for Jamal today than usual, against a decent (16th ranked coming in today?) run defense, BUT also credit to Jamal for taking advantage of them, showing burst and toughness and actually breaking some tackles.

If the o-line, perhaps because of the new personnel, can continue what it's been doing in pass and - after today - run blocking, and Jamal can keep running for his job like he was today, the running game can maybe get to the point where it's halfway decent. And that - at the very least - is what we need if we want to succeed if we make the playoffs.

Jamal's cut on that 4th and 1 reception is the difference between our scoring a TD and our giving them the ball back.

I don't understand the criticism of Sams. He was winded on that play cause he ran across the field twice before cutting up the field and getting hit a few times. What exactly makes anyone think it'd just be easy to find someone better for his job? Dante Halls don't just grow on trees...

You can't have perfection at every position. Sams is a solid returner, and it's one of the last positions we should be thinking about right now. Secondary, OL, DL, QB, and RB should be far more of a focus after this season's over. Sams is fine.

You've got to some credence to Kelly Gregg -- his tackle of Michael Vick is one for the ages -- it will be replayed again on highlights but also on the world wrestling federation -- what a move!!

Yeah, Gregg makes Jacked Up with that tackle I'd bet...

Bad:

Rolle is just toast out there, good for at least 1 PI call a game (although the one Sunday was a bad call) & giving up big plays & TD's every game. While I realize we can't have Pro Bowlers at every position, some good consistant play would be nice, especially the kind of coin he's collecting. We better be making plans for his replacement next year. He is our weak spot on D, & if we play the Colts in the playoffs, Manning will pick on him the whole game. He might make a decent Safety somewhere, but we don't need 1 of them now.

rolle didnt have the speed to keep up with the reciever and never really looked back for the ball until it was way too late.it was a busted play and the safety did bite up when vick scrambled. he did have a sack and made an open field tackle on dunn.
i like the composure of the team a couple missed scoring opportunities no sweat stick to the game plan and run the falcons defense to submission
