What's up everyone...new user here...
I feel we should trade down in the first round. We don't have a 3rd or 5th rounder, and some rebuilding needs to be done in key areas (secondary, WR, LB, etc.). Unless Ogden leaves, which it sounds like he is, there may not be any one really worth taking at 8. I have faith in Ozzie as I'm sure all of you do as well. Thoughts?

Agree ... unless Chris Long were to last to #8. Otherwise (particularly if we can pick up a late 1st or high 2nd and a 3rd): start stocking up to fill the many holes with young athletes.
We don't have a 3rd or 5th rounder, and some
I believe we will pick up a 3rd & 5th or more from compensatory picks.

Welcome new dude!
I'm in agreement with you regarding trading down.
Unless the top rated QB is sitting there, I'm all for trading down and trying to get more value hopefully acquireing a later 1st round pick an additional 2nd round pick + if possible.
We got alot of needs to fill IMO, and I think #1 on the priority list should be a true pass rushing DE.
All you had to do was watch tonights Superbowl to see just what having two top tier rushers from the end can provide.

Hi all, I'm new to the site, but have been a Raven Fan since the day they were born. As to the upcoming draft, I am afraid that they will follow the mock drafts that I've seen and get Brohm from Louisville. I see failure written all over that. At least that kid from Kentucky has played in a pro-style offense, and seems to have command of the game. Brohm reminds me of a fellow alum of his, and do we really need Chris Redman pt.2?? I say work on the O line. or trade down and get more picks.

Agree. I haven't see a QB in this draft who would remind me of Brady, Manning or Palmer. If a top notch DE or CB is not there, I would rather see a trade down to stock up premium rookies.

You mean Andre' Woodson? If so, I think there's a decent chance that he falls into the 2nd round after a mediocre Senior Bowl practice appearance. He could become a good target.

Just adjusting what you say. Compensatory picks. Last year we got 2 #4, a 5 and a 6, and we can expect to get something similar this year. So there is a chance we will have a 3 and a 5.
That said, I don't disagree with the idea of trading down for the right package and a quality target in the slot we move down to.

Would love to trade down in the 1st but I don't know if we'll be able to do it.
Talib is the guy I want, with one of Woodson, Flacco, Henne, or Ainge in the second. If we can trade down in the first we should pick up at least a second and another pick, probably one next year.
Dallas' two first rounders may also be a possibility.

I would love to trade down but it's not likely. Remember the other team's FO's get paid too, and with the shallowness of this upcoming draft at the very top, I don't expect our #8 to fetch very much in trade value.

if there is a top flight cb available take him, ravens usually stick with there # where it is, I just hope they don't jump on the qb angle, pick one up in the 2nd or later, cb and oline are more a need

I think we could trade down if we wanted...the other team might just offer something not as sweetened...There's still some talent available in the top 10 that teams would want to jump ahead to get, just because they draft by need. But we definitley won't be able to play other offers off that team's offer as much.

I would love to trade down, the mid-late first round has a lot of value in this draft, unfortunately I doubt we get any takers.
Because of that I say go for the big splash and take either top QB early if available.

#1 - Chris Long won't drop to us and neither will Jake, so forget it.
#2 - There's not a QB in the draft worthy of a #1 including Matt Ryan who could be taken by Dolphins but that's just a guess.
#3 - Ravens spent some time with Flacco during Sr Bowl week. They could get him in later rounds.
#4 - We don't have a 3rd because of McGinnis trade but should pick up a 4th as compensation for AD.
#5 - The last guy we got from Louisville was a disaster.
#6 - Sedrick Ellis, one of the top rushers in the country could be there @ #8 unless he posts super numbers at the combine in which case he won't be.
#7 - If he's gone, the CBs from South Fla, Kansas and Arizona will be there and we need secondary help too.
#8 - This is a great year to trade down because we could still get one of those 3 plus someone else to make up for the lack of and still get a Brohm type like Flacco later on.
1. At least we agree on something.
2. Both Ryan and Brohm are top 10 ish prospects to me, when you consider the importance of the QB position and the impotence of the QBN's in the league.
3. I hope by later you eman early second, otherwise I disagreee.
4. McGahee, and I believe we will get a 3rd for AD. His contract was right on the borderline.
5. Agreed, what's that have to do with anything?
6. Doubt he will be...
7. And they all should be. 8 is far too early for one (Cason) quite a bit too early for another(Talib), and a bit early for Mike Jenkins. The one I actually like better is from Troy. Leodis McKelvin.
8. I agree that if we can trade down, IF, we could acquire a Top Corner, a 2nd tier QB and another player on day 1, or have an extra pick next year.
First, I doubt we can trade. Second, if we could, I don't thik that's better then a top tier QB and a nearly top tier CB in the 2nd.

I agree with all this except the top tier QB in the first round piece. I think if we can't trade out of our first that we'll get more value out of an edge rusher like Gholston or DB like McKelvin/Talib/Jenkins and a QB in the second round like Flacco or Henne. Honestly, Woodson may even fall into our laps in the second round.
There's basically no chance Matt Ryan is around at our pick, and I don't think Brohm is worth a #8 overall. I think he's a lot like Quinn from last year...he's about as polished as he'll get, so he'll come in as a 75 - 80 rated passer and never be better than an 80 - 85 rated passer. Meh...

Leodis McKelvin. He's a corner from Troy, there a chance he may not even be there by our pick but I'm hoping he is.
I like the idea of trading down but the problem is, you need to find a partner. And if there isn't someone worth taking at 8 then who's going to want to move up?
