I can't believe we are going to lose twice to this asshole school.

We don't deserve to make the tournament

Yeah, pretty sad. They couldn't put them away after jumping out to big leads twice.

now the rest of their games are mega important...they can't cruise into the ACC tourney. They need 20 wins b/c of such a bad RPI rating.

The only guy they can count on to score in at least 10 pts a game is Vasquez. Hayes is just awful....needs to be benched.

How about the choke-job by Gist and Vasquez at the end of the game?...:ralph:

No wonder they didn't show highlights on SportsCenter!

As someone else stated, Hayes was just horrendous.

He brings NOTHING to the table.

This team got exactly ZERO points from the bench.

That's scary.

Vasquez pisses me off. He's a ball hog, and he makes terrible decisions with the shot selections. He's been doing that all season. Even in the waning seconds of the VT game, he had the ball and drove it right down for a layup. He made the shot, but that did us absolutely no good, as we needed a 3 pointer at that time. A 2-point layup still made it a 2 possession game with only a few seconds left.

Meh, the Lady Terps are a more exciting team to watch anyway - and not too bad on the eyes either. (Kristi Toliver....... :p )

I must be honest about Vasquez...I could see myself liking him more if he was more fundamentally sound...

As it stands though, I'm really not feeling him, especially after games like the Vtech and Gtech games...

His bone-headed play in the clutch gives me vomit-inducing flashbacks of Bitch Caner-Medley...And what the fuck is up with Gist?

You need whatever basket u can get. He forces things wehn it's obvious that he's our only hope, and it hurts us sometimes.

But we lost this game b/c of a long stretch with Walker, dupree, hayes, mcalpin in teh game.

We lost that game at the free throw line 6-14

Only getting there 14 times & than only making 6 - that's horrible

I mean we just put ourselves in a pressure cooker for the rest of the season. What I really don't get is why the Terps seem to have so much trouble playing at home. I know the student section is getting criticized for not showing up at games but from what I can tell the Wall is always filled. Maybe not the very top...but as i sit in the lower bowl with the Rock And Roll Pt. 2 signs I cant see that.

I agree that Vazquez can be a ball hog at times but he does consistently put up at least 15. The key to our team is Gist though. If you hold gist to 14 or less u will likely win. Another issue is people thing Hayes is hurt again, as his 3 point shooting has been off. No official word on that though. Finally the bench is a major factor. The starters need to be able to come off the floor but if our bench cant score any points we are screwed. Tucker will be back this weekend so we will see if that helps.

What we really need is for Gary to bring in Buck Williams to coach defense and smart shot taking to our big men.

That cat was one of the greatest Terps ever and he's still young enough to connect with the youngins...

The reason people freak out that Vasquez is a ball hog is because nobody else on this damn team will step up and score.

By the way, he tied the single game record for assists 2 weeks ago. He's not a ball hog. He will absolutely dish and give it up whenever he can. This team lacks scorers. Period.

Look what happened when he went out with foul trouble.

Yea, he forces the ball but he also is the only true playmaker on this team.

Where's Milbourne when Vasquez is on the bench? I see ZERO aggressiveness from guys like him and that's a major problem.

Once again, Hayes is playing horribly right now. There's no other way to describe it.

Ravenous.... I agree with you 100%. Buck would be a great addition to this team.

By the way, I'm surprised you didn't chime in with my last remark about the Lady Terps being good on the eyes..... Toliver, Coleman, Strickland... :p

heh!

Vasquez.
He shouldn't be the point guard. He is a scorer and that is something that the team lacks. It would make sense to have him with the ball to lead some sets to maximize his ability to score. But, too often he goes one on one. His assist to turnover ratio is 6 to 4. Yes, Grevis can dish the rock and he can also not run offense. It's much easier for him to hoist it and Gist not to when he holds the ball.
For a team that lacks scorers they have 4 players averaging in double digits.
Vasquez (17) Gist (15) Osby (11) Hayes (10) Milbourne (8). I think the better way to say it is that you only have a few players who can create their own shot.
Ball movement is key as well as the play of Landon. He is the "X" factor for the Terps.
The true concern is bench play. They just aren't very deep. I would hope that Tucker, Bowie, or Walker might step up a bit.

Their still is plenty to play for and they can still end up #rd in the ACC, which considering the roster is tremendous.

I still have hope for the Terps, but the other school I went to after Maryland made the tournament the last two years. Unfortunately we got crushed by UCLA the first year and Georgetown last year but I am holding out hope to be a first round spoiler this year... Go Belmont University!!!

On the lighter side, one of my co-workers met John Harbaugh and Rex Ryan at a bar before the game. My coworker said John was pretty friendly and talktaive to him, and even chest bumped one of his friends on the way out after he made a crack on John for something. Once again, our new coach = AWESOME.

Yeah, the Lady Terps, in addition to being a fantastic basketball team, has more than its fair share of cuties, don't they Beer?

Very unusual for a women's b-ball team...:beer1:
