"I would not be shocked to see Joe Flacco as the starter with spot play from Smith to keep defenses off balance and take some of the pressure off Flacco. Clearly there’s a long way to go before then, but don't be shocked if it shakes out that way."
I honestly believe that this gives us the best shot at the playoffs. Not a guarantee of a run, but our best shot.

I agree. Since Smith was drafted, I thought that he would be an excellent addition to the backfield or as a flanker for trick plays. I could see Smith and Boller or Flacco both lined up behind Center in a shotgun.

I am totally sold on what I heard about Flacco. I just want to see how our OL will function before putting him behind center. I like the potential of a Gaither, Grubbs, Brown, Yanda and Cousins OL. It would be neat to add a vet to that group.
As for Cousins, he has to dial it down a little or he could be a penalty magnet. The refs are already quickdraw with the yellow flags as it pertains to us. It is one thing to have nastiness and intensity on the OL, but it must be accompanied with discipline and intelligence. Besides, we can't have our own guys injuring each other. I don't blame Cody for being upset.
Troy Smith is a part of our future. He is a decent stopgap starter until Flacco is ready. Afterwards, Smith can enjoy a long career here as our Seneca Wallace/Charlie Batch.

It's obviously too early to draw any conclusions or get too excited, but the early reports on Flacco really sound very promising. It looks like the guy can really bring it.
It's also a pleasant surprise to read anything at all about Dan Cody being on the field. He can be a big contributor if he can just stay healthy (of course, I said the same thing about Musa Smith for years).

I dont think Cousins needs to dial it down I hope we have another ornery sob to play on the right side with Yanda. Its about time this line showed some attitude. Maybe some of it will rub off on Gaither and his migraine.

DITTO! Although, I do remember a certain Orlando Brown (and his 'attitude') costing us a chance to advance in the playoffs against the Titans a few years back.

Well then enjoy the many penalties that come with such reckless play. It is fine to be "ornery" but if they are not smart and controlled, it will cost the offense yards.
