2006 McNair was the by far the best thing we have ever had at QB. He was more solid than spectacular, but he got the job done in every game but the playoff heartbreaker. He had a good completion percentage, low turnover ratio, and did not take sacks. People were so worried about the O line going into that season, but they only allowed 17 sacks (14 of Steve) all season. Jamal was only getting 3.5, but Heap, Clayton and Williams were all involved.
Dilfer was good during the SB run, but he missed so many wide open WRs it was a shame. He got the job done in the post seaon though so there will always be some love there, but I was not sad to see him walk.

We only have one that made the pro bowl as a Raven as far as I remember... Vinny
Dilfer helped win it all for us, that is a plus.
McN had one decent season on the downside of his career
So we have had some small flashes, but we really haven't had a great QB yet.. we can ask who has been the best but I wouldn't use greatest in the same sentence with Raven QB yet ... the flashes were one year ... great to me implies there at least is some discussion for a ring of honor, and we aren't even close to doing that

FWIW, the greatest QB to play on the Ravens was unquestionably Cunningham; though he clearly wasn't the greatest Ravens QB which I assume is the intent of the question.
That logic has to have an impact on McNair. Yeah, he had a great '06 season. But his '07 season was absolutely dreadful, and that's GOT to have an impact on this.
Boller or GrBac even making this list is a testament to how terrible we've had it at this position.
Vinnie always had respectable stats, but he wasn't a winner. He actively lost games and almost never won them. Awful.
Dilfer played mediocre stats football but he did everything that was asked of him, competed like a champ (like Boller), and played mostly error free football whenever it counted. He even won a few games for us in there. He was spectacularly average, which is much better than we've had it with anyone else.

:iagree: 11-1 as a starter, 1 TO in 4 playoff games, a Super Bowl Championship - no one else came close to that achievement
Most exciting was Vinnie.
Most talented was Cunningham.
We've never had an overall outstanding performer for a full season -- but Tony Banks 2nd half of '99 thru Jax '00 was the next best thing. (How did Banks not make the list?).

If Vinny had the defense that Dilfer, McNair, Grbac, and Boller have had this question probably wouldn't have been asked.

If I had to pick the "best" of the list it would be Dilfer but I would agree with a few others that we have yet to see the "greatest" Raven's QB yet!

He Played 12 games and we won the title in spite of him... It may be him, becuase we at least won postseason games with him on the field, but to call it not even close is a bit far fetched. FWIW, I'd rank McNair and Vinny right there with him, but would probably abstain from voting becuase it would make me vomit.
Or I'd vote Flacco, cuz he at least hasn't played below average, yet.
Has to be the one with a ring. Dilfer.

The GREATEST QB (so far) has been DILFER ~ the RAVENS WON THE SUPER BOWL ~ No other RAVENS QB got us there!

I know I'm going to carch some crap for this but...
McNair... it is just the fact he was past his greatness time by the time he came to us. With all the QBs we've had he has easily had the best career. 13-3 wasn't too bad, it's been nice to have him earlier in his career but then the Titans wouldn't want to get rid of him.
If you are just talking about the time they were in Purple and Black... cricky... that is almost as bad as this years presidential options...

Trent didnt "get us there" either -- our Defense got us there and won it. He simply didnt get in the way.

How can you have MCNAIR AT 8 behind Boller, that is just crazy. Vinny has to be the best QB to play here yet, if he had anyof the teams since 1999 on he would have blown away the competition. Dilfer allowed us to go 5 weeks without a TD, if it was not for having the best D in the history of the NFL we do not make the playoffs and get a ring. Nothing against Dilfer but come on his play was not that great!

You have your opinion and I have mine:
- re: "How can you have MCNAIR AT 8 behind Boller, that is just crazy."
McNair was just average in 2006 and was the NFL's worst starting QB in 2007. Boller has been below average to average his entire career; but he never played an entire season as bad as McNair did last season. And there's not a lot of difference between #6 and #8. Basically: who was the more mediocre.
- re "Vinny has to be the best QB to play here yet, if he had anyof the teams since 1999 on he would have blown away the competition."
Vinnie was the best passer when he was completing passes to Alexander and Jackson, i.e. except when he would kneel down to toss picks in the end zone. Vinnie had a case of Boller-itis when making crucial last second decisions: bad decisions at the worst possible time.
re: "Dilfer allowed us to go 5 weeks without a TD."
:ref:
:liar:
Huh? :229031_confused2: Dilfer was on the bench for the first four games of the five game TD-less streak. How can he be blamed for that? btw: 2000 wasn't that long ago to confuse Dilfer with Banks, was it?
re: "if it was not for having the best D in the history of the NFL we do not make the playoffs and get a ring. Nothing against Dilfer but come on his play was not that great!"
Dilfer was a money ballplayer who was coachable. The Ravens formula for the Super Bowl run was to control the ball, no turnovers, have our fresh defense dominate. Dilfer responded with but one turover in four games. I will conjecture that Vinnie would have had 2 turnovers per game -- and we would not have made it past the first round of the playoffs.
Dilfer's record as a starter was 11-1. Of course our dominating Defense was the major factor during that streak. Dilfer did his job on offense. He wasn't our best passer (Grbac or Vinnie), most all-around talented (Cunningham), or had the most passing records (Banks). But his overall achievements as a Ravens QB have been the best we've seen. And I am talking specifically about the four game playoffs - the most important time in our history.
As to calling my opinions "crazy", and although many Boller haters will undoubtedly want to mock any opinion that has Boller other than our worst QB of all time, and Dilfer critics will diminish Trent's contributions, I suggest taking a look at how a larger sampling of Ravens sports fans view the best Ravens QB of all time, in the current Sun Poll (http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/football/bal-ravenspoll709,0,3816450,post.poll):

The thread title suggests we have had a great QB here (for the ravens)... after all, you can't be the "Greatest" without being great can you?.. So, this is a trick question, and the answer is "no one"!!:bag:
