HORRRAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Bengals loss could be a blessing in disguise. Our guys really want that bye in the 1st round, and now we will have to win all of our games from here on out. Our guys need that motivation.

Either way tonight was going to be good for the Ravens.
It will be even better if we're the only team from the AFC North in the playoffs. Don't put the Bengals in the playoffs JUST YET. :)
AFC North champs yet again!

Not too shabby coming from a division with the defending Super Bowl Champs and the pre-season consensus to win it looking up at us...I have to say, I really hope this loss knocks the Bengals off their recent streak of playing near perfect football- they scare me more than any other AFC teams...I hope the Jets can sneak in....that would be a pounding. Also, I can see a very tough game coming up in Pitt. on Sunday- they are playing pretty good football right now....we need to win out

Bittersweet. Happy to be division champs, but this team really needed a bye. Hope the rest vs. Cleveland will be enough for Steve.

I agree with JBecks; the Bengalis were looking awful good for a few weeks, and I worried about them in the Festivus.

I really would have prefered a first week bye this week than the Division title at the moment.
Hopefully, San Diego loses against the Seahawks.

Hey, if we deserve a bye, we'll get it.
If 11-13 wins doesn't earn us a bye, so be it.
I still believe we have a team that's good enough and smart enough to beat any team in the NFL in any environment with or without a bye.

At the moment we ARE the #2 seed. All we have to do is win out. We need no help from anyone!@!!!! GO RAVENS!!!!!!:hammer:

It is what it is. Cincinnatti played lousy last night. I know we can beat the Colts. Furthermore, something freaky may happen, like the Colts losing one of their next two games. Never lose hope. Furthermore, we have enough depth on our team that Coach Billick may still be able to rest some of the starters during the game.
If it really looks like we can't have the bye, why not rest the starters in the Bills game. That would be like a bye week, even if we lose.

If 24x7's posting is correct, we are all worrying about nothing. All we need to do is win out, and the BYE is OURS!!!!:p
I was wrong, sorry, looking at the tiebreaker w/in the division

The problem is that that is not correct. We are behind BOTH SD and IND. We need to win out and have some help. The most likely spot is to have SD lose just one game because we have the tie breaker with them. It is possible they could lose to SEA, or with some luck maybe Lienart has a good day against them in the last week.
But.. anyways. GREAT JOB by the boys. Another div. title. Another great and fun year with a bunch of W's on my sunday's. It is much better then last year, or being a browns fan.
We are blessed.

SD losing doesn't help us unless the Colts lose too. If it's a 3 way tie we still finish 3rd due to the same tiebreaker that we would lose to the Colts. We may have lost the Super Bowl last night. Damn Bungals!

To get the #1 seed, we need the Colts to lose one and the Chargers to lose one, and we need to win out. That way the Colts finish with 4 losses, and the Ravens and Chargers both finish with 3, creating a two-way tie between us and the Chargers that we win head-to-head.
To get the #2 seed, we need the Colts to lose one AND the Chargers to win out and we need to win out. That way the Colts finish with 4 losses, we finish with 3 and the Chargers finish with 2, putting us in the #2 slot with no tiebreakers. We don't want a 3-way tie, so a Chargers loss by itself does nothing for us.
Oh and yes - ALL HAIL THE 2006 AFC NORTH DIVISION CHAMPIONS!!!!
Although our sights are set much higher than that, it's still a great accomplishment to clinch our division - a division with two other potential playoff teams - on December 18.

If you were to say at the beginning of the season to any fan, player, coach, owner that entering Week 15, your team can be 11-3 and have the division title wrapped up, but not necessarily a BYE in the playoffs....absolutley EVERY SINGLE ONE would be jumping for joy......as am I!

In the preseason, I had no firm idea what to expect - somewhere between 8-8 and 11-5. I thought the division would be tight, with us and the Steelers chasing closely behind the Bengals most of the season. Coming off of a 6-10 season, I knew I would be quite happy with 10 or 11 wins and a playoff berth.
And I am, because we've surpassed that goal in mid-December!
Our best football is yet to come.

I don't think you are correct in that assumption. According to the tie-break procedures for three or more clubs the first tie-breaker is to go to Division tie-break rules. There is no Head-to-Head since Indy hasn't played either SanDi or the Ravens. The second Tie-break is Division Record. Bye Bye Indy's - they have 2 division losses which makes them the third seed! That leaves us and SanDi, time for Head-to-Head and we win Top Seed!
I think all we have to do is win out to make sure we still only have 1 division loss and 2 conference losses, and root for Seattle to beat SanDi and we could get the Top Seed!
Someone please check my Logic to see if this is correct!

No, division record does not come into a three-way tiebreaker at all if all 3 teams are from different divisions. It's head-to-head, if one team has beaten or lost to both; then conference record; then common games. The Colts get us on common games.

Regardless of the seeding, we're the AFC North champs yet again. And teams have every need to fear us in the playoffs.
Some of these other teams getting in need to realize our #1 defense handled then just fine. San Diego wants another shot? Bring it on!

If we win out and SD loses 1 game, we win the head to head tie breaker with SD since we beat them in the regular season, thus giving us the number 2 seed.

The head to head doesn't apply if the colts also win out making it a 3 way tie. We'd lose on common opponents.
We need to win out and have:
Colts loss (#2 seed)
Colts loss and SD loss (#1 seed)
SD 2 losses (#2 seed)
