Why don't the Ravens sign RB Marcus Mason to the roster?

McGahee was on crutches just a few weeks ago. Isn't that a little troubling? I know McClain can take some carries, but I don't know if McClain and Rice can carry the load.

I think Ray Rice can more than carry the load, I think he would be just fine as the opening day starter. Still, they don't have a roster spot free to bring in another running back. Even if McGahee isn't 100 percent week one he will probably still be there, maybe not on the active game day roster but he will be with the team and should be active week 2.

McGahee practiced yesterday, he just had his knee scoped, so he had to rest it to make sure it stayed clear.

Besides, the Ravens plan is to use Le'Ron McClain as a RB and Lorenzo Neal as a FB in certain situations, making McClain our 3rd string RB. So the roster spot is currently best used on another position where we have depth issues.
