View Full Version : Boller Should Start Sunday

I am not suggesting that we chalk this game for a loss. I think we could win this game even with Boller starting, and it gives McNair an extra week to get his hand ready.
It also gives Boller a chance to show his ability to win a game from the start of the game, and not in relief of what McNair had already started.

Nah... no point if winning guarantees a bye week. Though, Boller would beat the Bills, why do anything to risk LOSING that bye week.
What if Boller plays and the bad boller shows up. And the Ravens lose, and the Colts and Patriots win and everyone is 12-4...what if we lose the bye week?
McNair will still get his week of rest.

Stop with this Boller crap. McNair will start. We win and we get the bye and then everyone gets a rest. McNair's hand looked fine on Sunday, so why would he need another week for it to heal?

No. Not a good idea.
McNair and the other old guys will have plenty of time to rest during the wildcard weekend.

I'm all for the starters actually starting the game, and depending on how things are going (if we're up by 14) I'd put in some of the back-ups to give them some reps.

We need to win this game to secure the bye week. No way we risk sticking our backup quarterback out there.

Agree with Darb72.:iagree:
If we have at least a 2 TD lead in the 2nd half, why not go with reserves.
Billick is gonna go conservative anyway is that situation.

The Bills are better than the Steelers and better than the Browns. I appreciate the advantage we have with Boller as an effective backup but there's no reason to sit the starters unless it gets out of hand.

The importance of the second seed should not be underestimated
In addition, don't count Arizona with a Kurt Warner gunslinging for one last time out. You never know . . .

Start McNair and pull him after a quarter or a half, after we've already secured a good lead.

Start McNair and only pull him if we have a good lead. There is too much at stake getting that 1st round bye.

The Bills are a better team than what you think. They may come in here and try to be a spoiler. We must approach this game with the same intensity and preparation as any other. This is no time to rest on our laurels.

I agree with this point. Right now, the Bills are playing good football. Unless we are up 21 points at the half, there is NO reason to play bumbling, stumbling Boller. I love the kid, but his Happy Feet and lack of composure at times in the pocket could kill us.

I wonder about some people, to even suggest something like the thread title with what's on the line.

The bigger question is do we start Ogden? If he's 100% then it's a no-brainer. But what if he's 80%? Terry looked great but what if he starts and stinks it up? This board would explode Sun Night!

Terry looked great but what if he starts and stinks it up?
Is there any reason Terry would suddenly stark stinking it up?
To me, he has so far looked solid so a statement like that looks...well...out there.

yeah and while we're at it, lets sit all our Defensive starters, all the Offensive starters and bring in all the back-ups and give them time, seeing we have nothing to play for against a very good Bills team......
if we are up in the 4th quarter by alot, then fine, as the Self stated "Genius Professor" Darb72 said in an above thread, but not unless that happens.

You start your starters. You don't want to give McNair 2 weeks of rest going into the playoffs. That's too much time to get soft and out of sync.
We need this offense to be firing on all cylinders going into the playoffs. You play McNair.

What is the obsession with resting the starters when there is still seeding yet to be determined???Would you rather have the AFCC game here or in SD?? It still could happen,so just relax. They will have plenty of time to rest during the bye week.
Hopefully we willl get up by 14-17 against the Bills THEN we can start getting the subs some time and the starters some rest.

No. I love Kyle, but why risk anything at this point? The bye is the most important goal facing this team. The players will get some rest then. The Bills are not going to be a gimme at all. They are a hot team and are playing really good football. I'm just glad we have them in the Purple Palace and not in their stadium, where they seem to have been really hard to beat. Our secondary is going to have to be extra vigilant, because they seem to love the long ball.
We should put our best team out there. If JO's toe is still sore, Adam Terry should start for him so that he's good to go in our first playoff game.
There is a real problem in football season, isn't there? It's so short that you don't want it to be over, yet as soon as you've watched your team play on Sunday, you can't wait until Sunday comes around again. At least that's the way it is for me!

Adam did great against Joey Porter, but the Bills' Aaron Schobel is a much better pass-rusher these days than Porter. Adam may need help via chip-blocking. Having said that, I don't expect us to pass that much against the Bills, given their awful run defense.

I don't want Kyle to start this game, no sir. However if we are pouring it on the Bills, maybe we let Boller play the final quarter. That goes for other key players.
