Bengals need D help and we need a legit WR ...

Bad feelings aside, this is a possibility. I can see this going down as a straight up one for one trade, without having to sacrifice a draft pick for a WR like Williams or Bouldin.

FWIW, I am not for or against it. Just thought spit balling it would be interesting.

ESPN just teased it.

Thoughts?

no no no
This Defense will need a face after Ray retires, and Reed's days may be numbered. We need to sign Suggs this year.

We should make a play for williams, even for a first.

Do we need a complimentary wide receiver to actually give us a second option in the passing game? Yes.

Do we need to sacrifice an absolutely fundamental part of this defence who has an extremely bright future ahead of him, for a very good but not elite wide receiver? No.

There's no doubt we need an upgrade on Clayton and Williams as the #2 and #3 WRs, but we don't need to take away from the dominance of this defence to achieve it. I'll be pissed if we trade a starter or a 1st or 2nd round draft pick for anything. This team isn't going to win it all this year, so I absolutely hate the idea of pensioning the future away for something that ain't gonna happen.

I'm at a complete loss as to why the media are insistent on turning this trade deadline into something big, that there will be a big trade go down. Chris Chambers is the biggest trade we've seen in the last decade or more and that was hardly ground breaking, why are things suddenly going to change this year? I guess the rumour mongers like Schefter, Mortensen, Clayton et al. all need something to talk about during the season.

Yet another example of the current media climate of trying to turn news into entertainment.

So true.

ESPN has become unwatchable.

Stockers, you're spot on about ESPN.

That E:60 show is the perfect example of your sentiments. When reporters become the story, no matter if its sports, news, etc, they lose a lot of cred.

Don't understand how guys in the media that get paid for this stuff think two teams in the same division would trade players with each other to help improve each others weak areas.

Yup, let's send a team we play twice a year one of the better pass rushers in the league so he can harrass our franchise QB for the next decade or so.

Let's send a team one of the better receivers in the league so he can torch our crappy secondary for the next several years twice a year.

I would give up a first or second rounder for Boldin. T.J. is the product of being on a team with 3 wide receivers that are vetter than any of ours. The way I see it, we should be looking at a wideout with our first round pick anyway. Ozzie doesn't have a great track record in that department. I'd trade the pick for a sure thing.

given that "Tsizzles" has been pretty cold of late, I could possisbly support a trade with him involved...but I do think that Houshmanzadeh is the bookend of a similarly egotistical "OchoSinco"...so Boldin or Williams is probably the better bet.

Not for T.J.

The trade idea that popped into my head this afternoon was Heap for Williams. The Lions don't have a TE, we don't have a WR. Toss in a fourth or third for good measure and let's get this thing done.

No way this trade happens IMO, and I would not want this trade. I feel that we should do whatever it takes to get Roy here even for a first rounder

Folks, people won't want to trade for Suggs right now. He's in a francise year. No one will want to consider him without being sure he'd sign a long term deal there.

I think we're talking draft picks.
