View Full Version : Suggs running his gums about a Ward 'bounty'
http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/10/21/suggs-says-the-ravens-have-a-bounty-on-ward/
:ref:
I really don't have a problem with a bounty on Ward, but why mention it publicly? It only brings undo stress upon the team from the NFL as they'll be watching this game with a fine-tooth comb!!
My guess is its a ploy to get off the team and make a trade that much more likely. He's been running his mouth a LOT lately and its getting old IMO!!!

Sounds like Harbaugh needs to have a little sit down chat with Suggs as well.
I personally got no problem with what he's saying, I just got a problem that he's actually saying it.
Dumb ass!!!

Suggs has been all over the airwaves talking.
I've always said that nothing good comes of players doing radio shows. Whether they are the hosts or the guests.

I'm with PP on this. Ray did more harm than good with his radio appearances last season. I'd rather hear from the borderline players than the stars in those situations.
And Suggs is an idiot for mentioning a bounty publically. :grbac:

I thought Harbaugh put and end to all these radio shows and stuff when he got here.
I agree with PP as well, too much info. can come out during these interviews and sessions on the airwaves.
Particurally if it's from a source that has more of their own personal agenda in mind rather then the best interest of the team.

Suggs is on the air promoting his charity, so he's not "doing radio" per se. He is promoting his charity and then throwing in these dumb ass "oh by the way ..." comments.
I agree with everyone here. He needs to stop flapping his gums.

I was so pissed when I read this on PFT. What a great way to bring negative attention to the team, and give the league and refs another reason to be quick to the draw with the flags. I've had it with Suggs' mouth at this point. JUST SHUT THE F*** UP.

Let's be clear, these guys aren't on the team because they are brain surgeons or astrophysicists.
By and large, they are not very smart. Some of them less than others.

He is just a kid, 26 I think. How bright were you at 26.
Personally I don't care what he says, as long as he keeps ballin like he does.

I do have a problem with what he says. Football is to be played hard and tough, but without malice toward the opposing player(s) - to do so invites unnecessary injury to the opposing team, and gives the refs an excuse to further penalize this team, something we do NOT need. So, just play ball Suggs, and keep your feelings to yourself!

Have you ever played tackle football?:insane: Of course people play the game to hit and try and hurt the other player, ask any college, pro player if they are trying to put the other guy out and the resounding answer will be yes. Are they trying to cheap shot to get that done, mostly no, because there is a level of respect to some extent.
Bottom line is words hurt only as much as you let them, unfortunately in today's society people put way too much into what is said and written. (here I am preaching on a message board about peoples opinion, wow)

[QUOTE=yeahravens;104152]Have you ever played tackle football?QUOTE]
Played middle linebacker both in high school, and college! Recall an incident where one player on the opposing team took out a bounty on one of our players, which put our guy in the hospital for several weeks. Almost cost him his life; so, yea, I know what I'm talking about!! Play hard, hit hard, but don't take it beyond that!!

I agree with PP. First he wants Troy Smith as QB; now its Hines Ward. Maybe he needs to be benched as well.

Looks like he got the NFL's attention.

To quote the article
"Anderson also mentioned that the NFL is looking into recent comments made by Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs against Ward and Pittsburgh rookie tailback Rashard Mendenhall. Suggs mentioned on a recent radio interview that the team has a "bounty" on those two players.
"That 'bounty' notion is completely against the rules," Anderson said. "To the extent that someone is engaged in that activity, we will look into it and address it. Yes, we've seen the comments and we're trying to determine the completeness of the circumstances.""

They were just talking about this on the NFl network including an interview with Ward regarding the subject.
Ward pretty much responded that he's not worriee about it and that he thinks just about everbody in the whole division has some type of bounty on him, and want tro knock the smile off of his face.
Ward is right, and he knows it.
Suggs would be better served to actually be the one to carry out the bounty rather then talk about it.

I agree, let your actions speak louder then your words as the saying goes.

Oh this is awesome. This became a topic of conversation on Sportscenter last night. And they even had Hines Ward on to respond to it.
Way to go Terrell. That's just the attention the Ravens needed.

Check out Suggs lame ass excuse on the thread TL just posted.
Just man up, say you made a mistake, and take responsibility for what you said.
Instead of talking about the teams' first road win in over a year, we're talking about 2 idiots (Suggs and Cmac) who have been a complete distraction from the Oakland game.

We have 3 winnable games ahead (Oak, @Cle, @Hous). If we perform well, stay focused, don't sh*t the bed we could be 6-3.
Then its a matter of winning 3 or 4 down the stretch in some very tough games (@NYG, Philly, @Cincy, Wash, Pit, @Dal, Jack).
These 3 weeks are when we are supposed to be getting focused, growing as a team, working out the kinks, and getting this thing firing on all cylinders!!
Instead we are focused on bounties, backup Quarterbacks, dress codes, benchings, and national publicity campaigns. Does that sound like a team poised to join the NFL elite?
Playing lights out Defense with a good running game and efficient passing- we could actually be in position to knock off a few wins against end of our schedule.
The Steeler have a difficult schedule ahead too, and they're bound to lose some games. Come Dec. 14, we could have the opportunity to be playing them with the division title at stake. It is very frustrating to watch us start squandering that opportunity 7 weeks early with stupid distractions.
