I don't know if the board administrators had something planned to do for this, but for fun here, how do you see the AFC playoffs unfolding?

Here is my prediction:

Colts beat Chiefs 24-14

NE beat Jets 27-21

Ravens beat Colts 31-23

Pats beat Chargers 23-17 (Martyball and a young Phil Rivers do SD in).

Ravens beat Pats 27-16 (Ravens go to the SuperBowl).

I don't know if that's a likely scenario, but it is certainly a likable scenario.

Except for your scores: :iagree:

Provided, however, that they get the lead out of their asses during the bye. I just re-watched the Bills game: this is not a playoff quality passing or running attack, especialy in the Red Zone. The way the offense played yesterday: no way do we score 31 on the Colts or 27 on the Pats as predicted above unless the defense scores 3 or 4 times.

#6 KC Chiefs - 31
#3 Indi Colts - 35

#5 NY Jets - 17
#4 NE Pats - 13

Chiefs will keep it close, but their D just isn't good enough. LJ will run all day, so this could just as easily be a 21-17 score as a 35-31 score. The Jets match up really well with the Pats and have already beat them in NE.

------------------------------

#3 Indi Colts - 10
#2 Balt Ravens - 27

#5 NY Jets - 10
#1 SD Chargers - 21

Manning will throw at Rolle all day, but he'll have his classic Manning melt-down in the playoffs that he always has. One of their receivers will get behind Rolle for a fast, long score, but the rest of the day will be a nightmare for Manning. The 12th man shows up in force and the Colts go home with their ears ringing. The Jets give Rivers some fits, but LDT is too much for them and SD wins easily.

----------------------------

#2 Balt Ravens - 24
#1 SD Chargers - 10

Rivers gets mauled and can't handle the pressure. The Ravens score a defensive TD and hold LDT to 95 rushing yards and a TD. Merriman is the only guy with a sack and only has one, they control Jamal, but McNair leads an efficient offense. SD is in it as we get the ball back with 10 minutes to go and a 17-10 lead, until McNair leads us on one of his patented 7 minute TD scoring 4th quarter drives to seal the deal.

What you saw from the offense yesterday was the "Let's Pacify Derrick Mason Show." I watched the replay On Demand and our total offense centered around Mason, especially on that first drive.

Now that it is playoff time, I think we go back to playing our game. Let's just hope it does not rain.

I'm hardly an apologist for our offenses poor display, but if you actually WATCHED the game yesterday (i.e. read "between the lines" so to speak) you will know that we called a VERY...I mean VERY conservative offesnive game plan...ESPECIALLY for the second half of the second half once we got the double digit lead thanks to #21.

On the last 3 possessions, we ran nearly all of our offensive sets out of the 2 TE (Heap and Sypneiwski), FB (Mughelli), and 1 WR (Williams) package.

Billick wasn't going to show his hand for the playoffs, IMO. Play just well enough to beat a medicore team and keep it conservative. That was the game plan...even on D.

We were in a straight cover 2 a lot of the time on defense.

The passing attack is fine. I promise you won't see nearly as many sets with only Heap and Williams as the receiving options during the playoffs.

I agree with the predictions of tha author of this thead except I think it will be the Ravens versus SD for the AFC Championship. I think it goes into OT and the Ravens win on a FG.

I smell a Chargers upset coming before they reach the AFC Championship game. In the past ten years, the AFC team with the best conference recrd has gone to the SB only three times. I think the Chargers will get upset if they have to play the Patriots as I'd take Brady over Rivers everyday of the week. Plus, Rivers has looked shaky over the past three games. I have not watched the SD game from yesterday, but I will in a moment. I had to take down the decorations. :(

I just re-watched the Bills game: this is not a playoff quality passing or running attack, especialy in the Red Zone.

Gee, you needed to re-watch the game to figure out that the running game stunk it up again against another bottom-dwelling run D?

This is my chief concern going into the playoffs. With that said, the Ravens have a habit of playing to the level of their competition. That was in full display on Sunday. So I expect that (esp. with Ogden back) when the urgency rises so will the quality of play.

My guess is:

#6 KC over #3 Indianapolis:
The upset special, if you will. KC's running game will dominate Indy's horrible run D and control the clock. Tony G. creates mismatches against the Indy LB corps in play action and he will be a force. Manning & Co. will play well, but not have enough chances due to KC controlling the pace.

#4 New England over #5 NY Jets
New England's D will control this game and harrass Pennington, forcing multiple turnovers. Brady will use the running game and call an efficient game, needing to pass less than 25 times. This will be the most lopsided game of the weekend.

#1 San Diego over #6 KC
In a see-saw divisional rivalry game closer than what many will expect, the Darlings come from behind on - you guessed it - a LdT run in the 4th.

#2 Baltimore over #4 New England
I expect that this matchup will be a doozy. Defensive in nature, as hard-hitting as any game played this year, the Ravens D will prevail using the time-tested formula: Pressure, turnovers and stopping the run. I expect that the Ravens' offense will try to work underneath routes and utilize a more balanced Jamal/Anderson attack to keep the Pats off-balance. A see a 10-point Ravens win.

And, of course...
#2 Baltimore over #1 San Diego
San Diego peaked a few weeks ago, and Rivers is starting to show cracks. The Ravens will contain LdT/Turner enough to make Rivers throw more than he wants to, and the Ravens' pass rush will make him pay. The "Martyball" excuses for the 16-13 win earlier this year will disappear as the Ravens roll in this game. It won't be close.

I like the predictions of PurpleRulz. It's hard predicting scores, but I agree with all of the outcomes. San Diego is not a lock to win it's games, despite their record. Furthermore, I want the AFC Championship game here in our house.

I agree with PurpleRulz predictions as well. Just in case they're not, I've made plane reservations to San Diego already -- think the AFC championship will be a better game (and cheaper) than the SuperBowl.

I'll also predict that the Eagles will come out on top on a pathetic NFC field.
