The Ravens have signed the following players:
Todd Bouman (QB, 6-2, 226, 10th-year, St. Cloud State)
Daren Stone (S, 6-3, 215, 2nd-year, Maine) – Stone’s bio is on page 247 of the 2008 Atlanta Falcons media guide
Baltimore also signed the following player its practice squad:
Anwar Phillips (CB, 6-0, 187, 1st-year, Penn State) – Phillips was waived off the Ravens’ active roster on 11/3
The Ravens waived the following player:
Ernie Wheelright (WR, 6-5, 220, Rookie, Minnesota)

Re-signing Boumann makes sense: Smith's running plays increases the risk that the 3rd QB would be needed.

Not that this really matters, but Stone was a MONSTER at Maine... Not exactly an elite school... But it's my school damnit....

Stones rated pretty good on madden... plus 6-3 215 sounds like some good measurements...

You may have noticed the poor coverage on Special Teams. I do not know anything about Stone but I wopuld bet that terrance Cooper and Stone make their debut covering kicks.

So, is Ernie Wheelright just not a good receiver? Or are we hoping Terrance Copper is that good?

I think that the coaches feel that Wheelwright is decent but since he was an UDFA and has no NFL experience, they are more confident making roster moves with him in terms of his release and re-signing to practice squads and active rosters. There isn't much risk of losing him.
As for Copper, transitioning to a new offensive system is often difficult for a receiver. Many routes are adjusted based on pre-snap reads and there needs to be some synchronicity between WR and QB, particularly when you are more of a slot/possession receiver and not a burner.
Copper will contribute on special teams and he'll be a decent slot option. My guess is you could see him on the field this week depending upon the game plan but don't be surprised or dismayed if he is inactive. It takes some time with receivers.
I heard Wheelright looked good in practices, but as TL said, we could get him back if needed....

And since Wheelright wasn't here while Savage was, clowns prolly will not snap him up
Stone seems to have the size... are we looking at a S/LB hybrid?

The acquisition of Stone may be the precursor to Landry going on IR.
Didn't Stone have a DUI during the summer?

Yes, few articles here and there about it, not much detail.
