Left on a sour note here, but he cracked the 10,000 yard mark for his career this weekend in the Browns 14-0 loss to the Bengals. 24th player in NFL history to reach that mark. Credit worthy I feel.
 Congrats Jamal

Most rushing yards by a convicted felon (next to OJ).

I am still a big Jamal fan. It is not his fault the Clowns were the most willing to give him the cash.
I would be willing to bring him back next year to be a backup, for vet min of course, but he still is a good tough runner, just going down with the Clowns.

He is under contract for 2 more years with Cleveland. Even if he were a free agent, I would not bring back an almost 30 year old running back. He is much slower than he was 5 years ago and I never liked the stutter step. I personally don't feel he would fit into our offense anymore. We have LeRon McClain who basically serves the same purpose.

In complete agreement with you Stinger. If Jamal had better work ethic he might still be wearing the purple.

Stinger I am with you on this one. I loved Jamal and had a Singed Jersey and Football on display. I understand the business sided of football, however when a player trash talks a team and city on his way to a new team I lose respect. I could understand if he felt like he was not used correctly and he wanted to just say that, however he had just come back from Jail and us fans and our team had to deal with all of the crap that went with it.
Sure he broke records and ran very well for us here in Baltimore ... but the lack of Respect he showed to Baltimore will never get him back on my good list. Is it great that he hit a very big mark in the NFL ... yes ... but cheer for him .. Hell NO!

Come on now. How can you hate Jamal Lewis? He was a beast here. The reason he wanted to leave was because he was tired of Brian Billick's piss poor offense and I certainly can't blame him.

Jamal was a great RB, but I don't have respect for anyone who leaves running his mouth about an organization who stood by him when he was going through one of the roughest experiences of his life. They could have just as easily cut him but they didn't. They stood up there and took a lot of heat, and in return he had zero class when he left here. He's an asshole and I'm glad he went to one of the worst organizations in the NFL. They deserve each other.

Does this answer your question afcnchamps?
Brian Billick and Steve Bisciotti had Jamal's back at Jamal's darkest hour, and his thanks to the team was to be a cancer and then leave running his mouth.
F^ck Jamal. I'd rather watch LeRon McClain bowl over guys than him right now.

Jamal Lewis was a tool, in pretty much every way it is possible to be a tool.
He was very lucky in Baltimore, to be with a great run blocking O-Line for a few years, and to be with a series of ineffective QBs/WRs who made him the only option, and with a HC who had the nerve - particularly in 03 - to say to the opposing team, yes all we can do is run, FU, we are now going to run the ball. Sack up and play defense.
Anyway he gets on my nerves, so no, no back flips from me, and my apologies UKRavenstockers for adding another post of griping to this well intentioned thread.

I've got no issue with people griping about Jamal, I too share the sentiment that he came off as extremely ungrateful to the organisation with how they stood by him in his darkest hour. I'd like to believe that he was just trying to get in with the fans of his new town by slagging off the rival team that he's just arrived from, but considering what this organisation and the people at the top did, he should have gone about getting "in" with the fans in a different manner.
As I say, this thread wasn't to comment on Jamal Lewis the person, this was merely a thread to point out a fantastic on the field achievement that Jamal has achieved is truly credit worthy. I don't see why anyone shouldn't congratulate him on that.

Well, speaking for myself, it's because I have come to the opinion that he's a horse's ass. But that's just me, and probably not a very gentlemanly attitude.

In his prime, Jamal was a BEAST of a running back - hard nosed, fast, a 'Jimmy Brown' type, in-your-face runner. He deserves his accolades. But I would not trade any of the Ravens runners for him right now.

Jamal gave me a lot more good memories than bad ones. I'm not gonna let some comments he made sully those good memories. I was frustrated with our offense too.
He carried our offense on his back during the time he was here. He played through numerous injuries to do it. 10,000 yards is a great accomplishment, and I say congradulations.

I'm a big believer in the Holiday Spirit and I know that Jamal contributed greatly to our SuperBowl run as a rookie, so I offer him my most sincere congratulations on reaching the 10K milestone:grbac: .
The rest of you cynical jerks need to get a grip and quit holding on to petty grudges that mean nothing.
For all his faults, the guy is the best RB in franchise history, regardless of what he said at a press conference.
Isn't playing for Cleveland punishment enough without Ravens fans piling on?:bag:

I don't see how not congratulating Jamal for getting yardage in a Browns uniform reflects any "petty grudges" or being a "cynical jerk". I'm sure most all Raven fans in this thread thank Jamal for his accomplishments as a Raven. There's no denying he had off the field issues that embarrassed the Ravens Organization, not to mention repeatedly tossed Coach Billick and the Raven Organization under a bus. Being truthful and holding Jamal accountable for his actions isn't a petty grudge , it's being honest and forthright about his tenure in Baltimore.
Too bad you have a hard time recognizing that.

I'm happy for him. I'm happy for any ex-Raven to do well. It may have been to our benefit for him to leave, as we 'had' to pick up McGahee/Rice/McClain, which is an upgrade. I suspect he felt dropped and might have been bitter about the whole thing. Hopefully he'll have a better attitude when he's put in the Ring of Honor.

I'm a fan. The players, coaches and others come and go. I root for the uniform and the city it represents.
Take off the uniform and I could not care less what you did on the field.
Jamal Lewis took off the uniform and never did anything off the field to make me give a crap about him as a man.
