I would want the history back, but the Ravens are our legacy now. I wasn't alive to know the Baltimore Colts, but I sure as hell would want that history back.

An emphatic NO. We are the Ravens. In fact, I don't even care if they stay the Colts at this point. But how easy would it be to simply separate Indy and Balt when it comes to pre/post '83 history and records?
But the fucker will never do it because he gets off claiming it as part of his legacy. Manning should be setting Indy records right now- Not breaking Unitas records.

No way.
It would be nice if Irsay did the right thing and retire all Baltimore Colt records and history but I wouldn't want the Ravens to change their name and colors for the sake of nostalgia.

All I care about is the records. The "history" IS ours. None of those cornfarmers were on 33rd Street.

No we are the Ravens.

No Way. What's done is done. The Ravens are truly a Baltimore name and again it dates back to Edgar Allen Poe, a Baltimorian.
I would like Indy to change their name and colors and have it retroactive back to 1984. The Colts were named for Baltimore's Horse Racing Industry. They should be the Indy Hoosiers or Indy Cars or something koshier to that city.

They can keep the name at this point. It would be great to have our history back though. The Indianapolis Colts have no history or records prior to 1984. They're misrepresenting themselves every time they refer to anything prior.
The Ravens are Baltimore's team now - the city that bleeds PURPLE!

I would take the Lombardis, all the BALTIMORE Colt memorabilia from when they were here, and retire the logo, the name, and the colors. Heck...the Washington Wizards renamed themselves without that much hoopla. They simply decided that the name "Bullets" was too violent, or whatever -- and now they're the Wizards.
I think INDY should do something similar. Just say: We need a new name and identity. That would be perfect. NO MORE Indy Colts. (And I mean, it's not like the Indy Colts have any Lombardy trophies to worry about. And they're not going to get any this year, either, so the sooner the better, IMO). Maybe they could end up choosing something fierce, like the Indianapolis Badgers. Whatever they want. Enough with the hosses already. Send that tired old 50's stuff to the glue factory. Go for something more modern and hip. (Maybe we could even start a thread called: "Let's Rename The Colts".
GO RAVENS!!! (41-0 when +2 in turnovers)

If Jimmy Irsay said he'd sell the rights to the name of the Colts....I'd say, "Son, you never owned them in the first place".

I would love for them to just retire the name, and split the history to 84 and before and post 84 at the HOF and record book (which is what is the RIGHT thing anyway). The Ravens now have too much history to change the name, and we finally have national play by play and reporters calling us by the right name (Instead of slip ups as Colts). Maybe if the Indy Hoosiers gave up the name, the Ravens could wear the Colts gear as throwbacks.

The Colts is a Maryland name considering we are famous for the Preakness. I actually find it kind of amusing how The Colts name has absolutely no resemblance to Indy whatsoever. They should be named The Racers, Indy Corn F***ers, or the Inbreds.
Seriously, how would you feel if the New Orleans Saints moved to Baltimore and were called Baltimore Saints. I would prefer to change the name since the Saints name means absolutely nothing to Baltimore.
As for having the Colts name back I say no way. The Colts name died a long time ago and I am a Ravens fan now.

No way, no how. If that happend the name, colors, logo and records should immediatly be retired.
We are now, and always will be, YOUR BALTIMORE RAVENS!
The Ravens are our team now. But the name Colts should be retired and the history separated. The Indy records should move to the newly named team and the Baltimore Colts records should be just that.
It would end this whole thing once and for all.

No doubt, Greg. But the likelihood of Indy doing that is....?
