Well earlier in the week I thought that the starters would play at least a half. At least this would keep me half awake after several brewskis. Now that it appears that a boatload of rain is expected, I guess I can give up watching it by 2 minutes into the second quarter.:jester:

Just sat and listened to some of the pre-game show on comcast over t'internet and turned off, v.quickly! Sage Steele and Jill Sorensen sounded like two women sitting having a gossip, that was abysmal!

I'll keep it brief tonight, probably only a quarter's worth of game thread. Here we go!

Sams takes the kick to the 22. Thank God this is Stockton's last game (for another year..)

1st, Anderson gets 6-7.
2nd and 4, Anderson gets maybe 1.
3rd and 3, pass thrown behind Darling, incomplete.

Punt return stopped around the 15.

StingerNLG

Well there's a good sign.

1st from the 19, Betts grabs around 3-4.
2nd and long, Betts for no gain. Nice stop!
3rd and long, Brunell majorly pressured by 3 Ravens, ball downed incomplete. Great defense!

Sams dances and gets no positive yardage.

Brandon
08-31-2006, 07:08 PM
I am guessing Mason is getting the night off tonight, as well as Cmac

StingerNLG
08-31-2006, 07:13 PM
Nice heads up play by Darling to stop the route and come back to the ball.

Maybe, just maybe, Darling is the real deal and they've just wanted to take their time with him?

Erg. Another stalled drive,.

Brandon

Pashos getting beat again, so what else is new?

Admin Steve
08-31-2006, 07:14 PM
Stover gets a reprieve.

Sephy
08-31-2006, 07:14 PM
1st down Ravens from the 30, McNair looks like he wanted to scramble, but chucks it downfield to an open Darling who gets 35 yards! MUCH BETTER ALREADY. Nice looking out for his QB by Darling.
1st from the Skins 35, Anderon gets it and amazingly gets 1. No hole there.
2nd and 9, fake reverse to Clayton, Anderson carries for a couple.
3rd and 6, McNair seemingly locks on to Moore, overthrows him (how do you do that?). Protection is weak, but OK.

Stover puts up a terrible kick, line drive and wide right, but the defense get a 12 men call. 4th and 1 and the offense is coming back on.
4th and 1, give to Anderson who pushes forward for 1-2 after the initial hit, first down!

RavenFanatic2k6
08-31-2006, 07:15 PM
Darling has looked very good.

Offensive line has looked pretty good thus far. Alot better than last week for sure.

Sephy
08-31-2006, 07:18 PM
1st from the 24, give to Anderson for 2-3. He's a real 2 yards and a cloud of dust type back.
2nd and 8, Anderon picks up the blitz beautifully, McNair goes for the split wide Heap, and was overthrown thanks to illegal contact. 5 yards and a first. Heap really faked out Rogers.
1st, Anderson for 3. Holding on Vincent. God our right side sucks.
1st and 20 from the 27, PA, caught by Green for a small gain, and gets whacked, and is hurt. Hopefully not bad.

Brandon
08-31-2006, 07:18 PM
That hit didn't look good on Justin Green at all.

OK, I missed it again, but TOUCHDOWN MARK CLAYTON!

Brandon
08-31-2006, 07:25 PM
Well at least the first string offense scored a touchdown. Not sure how excited I am about it given the Redskins defense has looked like crap the whole preseason. Nonetheless, hopefully, it builds some confidence in them.

Koch with a GREAT punt from the endzone!

Kaven
08-31-2006, 07:40 PM
The Buc's defensive line will eat him alive.

Merlin
08-31-2006, 07:41 PM
With Chester playing center, it looks as if the coaching staff has no vision of Jason Brown being a legitimate backup at that position. Do they want him to be a guard instead??

Sam Koch is getting good lengths on his punts this game

Kaven
08-31-2006, 07:41 PM
Koch is coming through with the pressure on.

Brandon
08-31-2006, 07:41 PM
The Buc's defensive line will eat him alive.

I know, sad to say! I mean just think, Joe Salavae' (whatever his name is) was a scrap heap defensive lineman for us a couple years ago who didn't make the final cut, and is going up against Vincent.

BTW, it's great to see Sam Koch coming along now. Guess he really wants to feed his kids.

Merlin
08-31-2006, 07:42 PM
Since Koch is stepping up, it will free an extra spot for someone on the 53 man squad -- Rod Green?

Read Mike Preston's latest blog posted about 8:15 this evening. It was regarding Flynn and how he might be replaced by Brown if he struggles. I think they are just working them at each position. Afterall, Vincent and Flynn could be replaced by both Chester and Brown.

Kaven
08-31-2006, 07:44 PM
Koch looks to be a punter, only.

Sephy
08-31-2006, 07:45 PM

Sephy
08-31-2006, 07:47 PM
Good lord, they're sitting there ranting about Heap being in and he ISN'T EVEN IN.

This broadcast team sucks so much.

Merlin
08-31-2006, 07:47 PM
It makes sense to get both Chester / Brown playing time. However, it seems that Jason Brown is more of a pure center than Chester, who might be better suited to play guard.

They have got to get more youth on the line this year -- I'd be looking for increased rotation on the o-line even from the first game to get the young guys some time.

RavenFanatic2k6
08-31-2006, 07:49 PM
Boy, haven't seen that before. Clarence open as a WR will ever get and Boller overthrows.

Kaven
08-31-2006, 07:50 PM
Can't be banging those punts through the endzone.

Kaven
08-31-2006, 07:51 PM
I really hate to say this, but Brown and Chester are not ready for primetime.

LBoogy
08-31-2006, 08:02 PM
And Vincent and Flynn are ready for prime time? Chester looks good.

Clarence was open and should have caught that ball. Boller's pass wasn't exactly on the money but it was catchable for a guy who is 6'6''.

Kaven
08-31-2006, 08:05 PM
Chester is unfortunately, too small. I agree about Vincent and Flynn. The offensive line has been an issue for years.

RavenFanatic2k6
08-31-2006, 08:07 PM
Chester isn't too small. The Ravens didn't think so when they drafted him, and he has looked good.

Kaven
08-31-2006, 08:08 PM
Obviously down.

Kaven
08-31-2006, 08:11 PM
I am not happy about it, but Chester as of right now, is too small. Super quick, but too small.

RavenFanatic2k6
08-31-2006, 08:14 PM
Well according to the Ravens website he's the same size as Flynn. He also weighs more than first round pick Nick Mangold.

I don't think small is a bad thing. For years we've gone with huge OL that are good run blockers but extremely weak in pass pro. Chester is a refreshing change. I do agree he could probably use a year in an NFL training program though.

We have come a long way with our WRs haven't we? Looking at it now I see 4 good WRs, with one that has the potential to be good if we use him right.

Merlin
08-31-2006, 08:17 PM
As good a drive by Boller as we've seen . .

LBoogy
08-31-2006, 08:34 PM
How 'bout KB? Certainly encouraging how well he's been playing the last few weeks.

I'd love to see us resign him cheap and keep him around for awhile.

Great game so far, nothing like beating up on the foreskins.

RavenFanatic2k6
08-31-2006, 08:36 PM
Looks like Koch will be the KO man as well. He's getting it inside the 5 on his kickoffs.

LBoogy
08-31-2006, 08:38 PM
That's GREAT about Koch. Hopefully he'll free up that extra roster spot and we can carry Martin or Ross/Daniels.

RavenFanatic2k6
08-31-2006, 08:48 PM
St. Pierre is pretty bad.

Kaven
08-31-2006, 08:49 PM
That's how you drop a punt inside the five.

Brandon

The Redskins are freaking horrendous. It almost makes me wonder whether we are really better than last weeks showing or not.

FellsPointRaven
08-31-2006, 09:58 PM
The Redskins are freaking horrendous. It almost makes me wonder whether we are really better than last weeks showing or not.

We certainly have been. Yes, the Vikes were a better team who can perhaps exert more pressure, but we have not made the same mental mistakes, and have executed FAR better in all facets of our game than last week.

Right side of the line is still sucking, but on the whole a vast improvement over last week.

RavenFanatic2k6
08-31-2006, 10:00 PM
Demetrius Williams is a beast. I have to believe he's the #3 after tonight. He's SO fast. That 77 yard TD was great, even if it got called back.

Great final preseason game, plenty of MO going into Tampa.

StingerNLG
08-31-2006, 11:38 PM
Damn it!!! About 8:30 my internet went right out. it's 12:40 and I'm at my OFFICE because I had actual work to do tonight. Sorry I missed out on the rest of the game thread.

I think it's nice to see we finally have a 1-2 punch at QB that might just carry us into the playoffs this year. I think the most encouraging thing I saw after KB's touchdown was him and McNair together smiling and having fun. Say what you want, but that is damn encouraging.

McNair: 4-6, 1 TD
Boller: 6-9, 1 TD

I'll take that!
