Mike Vick....while talking about Farve's retirement, Steve Maruchi tells what a QB can have to help his team win. The first thing names whats with your legs, i think that just maybe a hint of to who may take Mike Vick once he gets out the pen. lol

Pretty sure they will make a run at Kerry Collins if the Titans don't resign him or Jeff Garcia.

I have heard Kurt Warner, Marc Bulger, and Kerry Collins.

Mike Vick? I just dont see that happening...if Vick ever gets re-instated to the NFL I think he is going to have to switch to being a RB if he wants to play.

it'd be funny if Rex Ryan decides to bring in Kyle Boller...

Mike and Mike were talking about this yesterday morning, and as we all know Greenberg is a Jets fan. Golic named all the free agent QB's and when they got to Boller he was like "well this one I don't know about, if Rex brings him in that means Rex thinks he is a good enough QB to start" or something to that effect. Behind Boller he said maybe Garcia, but he was quick to shoot down Warner and Collins as possibilities.

I think Titans and Cards want to keep their respective QBs, but Garcia is definitley on the way out, and I can't see Boller returning unless Troy Smith goes (hmmm, wonder if Rex would want to trade for Troy?...I'd be ok with letting him go for a 3rd or 4th and keeping Kyle on as Joe's backup).

Agreed, there is no way that Tenn or Arizona let QB's go who took them so far last year especially with the 2 stooges in Young and Leinart behind them.

As far as the Jets Garcia would be a logical choice, but Minnesota would be a much better fit for Jeff.Childress runs the west coast offense in a dome, and in NY Garcia would have to fight the elements with his weak arm,and not be in a west coast system.

A veteran Qb is still needed in NY,Rex doesnt want to go down that road with 3 young guys next year. There are some people who believe that the Jets will take aSanchez out of USC,but who knows. This years QB class is very weak, and the FA market isnt much better.

Glad we got Joe!!!!!

Not The Year To Find A QB

If your team is in desperate need of a quarterback, it could be a long wait for the 2009 season. I’m trying to figure out the best options in free agency and the draft, and I still can’t find anything to write home about.

Last week, the National Football Post’s Michael Lombardi detailed the top free-agent quarterbacks in the NFL. As I sit here scouring the list, I’m pretty worried that Chiefs fans who have a Tyler Thigpen jersey hanging in the closet might want to get it dry-cleaned and ready to go next season — because the options available with NFL experience are pretty slim.

JETS CONSIDERING VETERANS TO TAKE FAVRE’S PLACE

Posted by Aaron Wilson on February 13, 2009, 1:16 p.m.

As the New York Jets try to address the hole at quarterback created by Brett Favre’s retirement, they’re expected to explore the veteran route to fill the vacancy, according to the New York Post.

Noting that Kellen Clemens, Brett Ratliff and Erik Ainge have a combined eight starts with Clemons making all eight back in 2007, Post beat writer Mark Cannizarro speculates that the salary-cap strapped Jets might look at Pittsburgh Steelers backup Byron Leftwich and former Baltimore Ravens starter Kyle Boller as well as St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger if he’s released.

Another possibility mentioned by NFL Network’s Adam Schefter would be attempting to work a trade for Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson. Kerry Collins’ name has been thrown around, too, in various reports.

The Jets could also go with a rookie quarterback, but the top guys (Georgia’s Matt Stafford, Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford, and USC’s Mark Sanchez) will be gone by the Jets’ 17th overall selection.

New Jets head coach Rex Ryan isn’t averse to a young quarterback after going to the AFC title game last year in Baltimore with Joe Flacco.

“That shows that it’s possible to win with young quarterbacks,” Ryan said. “In Baltimore, we were faced with a similar situation. Troy Smith was going to be our starter. He had one or two games of experience and he had a sickness and then we turn it over to a rookie quarterback [Flacco] and he takes us to the AFC Championship Game.”

I think Rex should bring in a vet like Garcia or Collins to compete with Ratliff, Clemens, and Ainge for the starting spot. In pre-season last year Ratliff looked pretty darn good.
