View Full Version : Should McNair Had Just Taken The Delay Of Game?

In the second half, we were at a point where the Colts had one timeout left and we had all three of ours.

We had already lost one timeout on Billick's sill challenge.

Shouldn't McNair had a just taken the delay of game instead of wasting a TO? We had just gotten the first down, and we would have been pushed back five yards, but still had that extra TO that could have served us well late in the game.

Your thoughts?

Actually, I don't think it would have been a delay...it was hiked before time expired, but the Refs blew the play dead since Billick called the TO.

With the way McNair performed under pressure last year, I don't think you'd want to back yourself up to first and 15. Let 'em play. Of course, hindsight is 20-20.

Also, I bet over the years our percentages for converting first and 15s into subsequent first downs are pretty low. I'd be surprised if we were even close to the league average. I don't have any stats to back that up, but maybe someone else does?

Wow- a response to a thread from a game on the other side of a half year ago... Brings back memories, and just reminds me of how excited I am for training camp to begin. I was having flashbacks of Hard Knocks the other day- I wish that show would come back!

As far as that timeout, I remember wishing they'd have saved it. It defintely coul dhave come in handy... but on the same note, I remember thinking- well, if they run the play and something bad happens, I'd be just as pissed... bottom line, we can't have interceptions in the end zone this year. We lost to Denver and Indy because of poor decisions with the ball... We got lucky on one in New Orleans too...
