Hi gang. Well, it seems that the NFL has noticed us and are not happy with the way that the site uses certain phrases and images. This is certainly no surprise to me since for the past year, the NFL has been threatening to take the Chamber of Ravens Nests to court over the Nest logo (you can see it on the Nest ad to the right) - never mind that the Chamber has donated over $150,000 to local worthy causes and does nothing but promote and support the Ravens in a multitude of ways. It sucks. Two middle fingers to the NFL from me.

Anyway, back on topic. We need a new name for this message board. Currently it is Ravens Talk 24x7. I assume that we will not be able to use the word 'Ravens' just in case people with three brain cells mistake this site for the official site.

Therefore we look to our esteemed membership for suggestions. Post them here. We will look at them all and possibly use the best one.

I am getting pretty fed up with how the NFL keeps screwing the fans.....they make Billions off of us and the network tv revenue....along with having their own network.

They are not even allowing fans to tailgate at the Super Bowl this year.....

My guess for the reason they are going after the Nest logo is they probably feel it looks like the old Philadelphia Eagles logo that they used to use in the 60's and 70's....http://encyclopedia.quickseek.com/images/PhilEagles.gif

Other than that, and the fact that is says "Ravens".......big deal......what a bunch of crap. It's not like the Eagles use that logo anymore anyway....not to mention that the colors are different and that the birds are not the same species.

Well, alot of the other teams boards have different names. The Stains is called the Watercooler and the Steelers is called Heinz Field.

Again, the recognition should be a great indication to TL of this board's popularity.

It seems some form of Purple and Black or the Baltimore Football Talk is picking up steam.

Other ideas from me are:

1. Purple and Black Smack 24x7
2. The Purple and Black Board 24x7 (like Blackboard from school)

As for the picture, why not come up with a cartoon Raven bird much like the Orioles used to do a long time ago when they mattered.

Don't worry, the MB on the official site is coming...believe me......it may be awhile, but it's been in the works for quite sometime.


The guy that was setting it up was Mike Preston(NOT that Mike Preston),
He contacted me about my interest in being a moderator and or for some input on the official site....however, Preston left the Ravens to become PR director of the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA. He left my contact info with the person that was to take over, but they haven't contacted me..nor do I know if they will.....but believe me...a MB on the official site is definitly in the works.

FYI, we don't have to change the names of the boards once we get beyond the front page. The NFL doesn't want us to call it Ravens Rap on the home page accompanied by the Ravens profile bird which is copyrighted.

I like the idea of the cartoon bird. Artistically, anything north of a stick person challenges me.

As for names on the home page, I've kicked this around:

A big X next to which reads: "Heard it on the X" and then below that, "The 24x7 Message Board" or;

picture of stadium next to which reads: "The 12th Man....and below Message Board 24x7.

If you want to do a cartoon bird, a good friend of mine is in art school and would probably love to do the work for that if you're willing. We get a cool bird, he gets some pub. My draft projections thread will have some work form him soon if you're interested.

And yeah, after the home page, you can do about whatever you want. If you bury the copyright or trademark in the URL you're going to be pretty solid. For example, famous case about this URL: http://webpages.charter.net/jazzn2day/ballysucks.htm and the guy won because no one is going to think that it's the real bally's site.
