NBC half-time...

Showing the Suggs hit and Brady turning around and calling for the flag and the ref giving it to him...

Harrison talks about how terrible the call was. Then he turns to the camera and says "And Tom, if you're listening to this, take off the skirt and play football."

I think it was, "...trade in the skirt for some slacks" but yeah that was AWESOME.

And Dungy backed him up on it.

I guess they just have "sour grapes" as well.

I hate what the NFL has become in regards to this bullcrap. They want to protect their star quarterbacks to protect their financial interests? I think the NFL did just fine last year when Brady went down in week 1.

Matter of fact it was another record setting year. The games were still played. And a Champion was crowned. Interest still at am all time high. The NFL world kept on moving. Without one of its golden boys.

After the Harbaugh eppisode is when I blew up.
I was like screw it, the game is over, get your moneys worth.
As long as you're going to get flagged for roughing the passer.....

ROUGH THE PASSER!!!

If you're getting 15 yards for accidently having your hand graze the side of the QBs helmet, haul off and slug the crap out of it.

If you're going to get flagged for roughing the passer because you went down during your match up with an offensive lineman and fell into the QBs leg in the process, grab his legs and twist the crap out of him while you're down there.

I'm not saying deliberately go out and hurt the guy, but get your moneys worth.

I like the way you think.

If they want to throw the 15 yarders you might as well try to clean someone's clock in the process. Club them to the head like in the old days, they can't penalize you any more. Drive them into the ground and make them feel every bit of that 15 yards.

I was trying to explain to my buddy (Titans fan) how bad the Roughing the Passer calls were, and he wasn't understanding and was calling me a homer. I told him that the call on Ngata was eerily similar to the call on Suggs to prolong Kerry Collins' drive last year against the Titans. After a two minute rant about how bad both calls were, I think I got the point across. He hung up on me, but knew what I was talking about (I'm assuming).

That's exactly what I'm saying!!

Until they set a standard or degree of roughing the passer like they do with kickers, get your 15 yards worth.

Wouldn't shock me in the least to see something like this happen.

A differential between running into the QB, and roughing the QB.

There's a clearly defined difference with kickers to protect them.

If you're going to protect QBS like kickers, then there should be degrees of infraction.
Until that time, get your 15 yards worth.

Getting your 15 yards worth might make them think twice about holding that ball an extra second, etc.

what gets me more is that on the replay of the Gaither injury, it looks like the DL drives his helmet into Joe's chest a good second or so after the pass was thrown. But NO CALL FOR ROUGHING THE PASSER?! Seems to me JJ got flagged for it two weeks ago for hitting Rivers less than a second after the pass was thrown...Maybe I don't understand the rule right, can anyone comment on that?

So the rule isn;t so much protecting QBs, but more protecting QBs named BRADY.

Defender made 1 full step after the ball was gone and leveled Flacco.

No call.

There was another play where Ty Warren came from the left and hit Flacco about 2-3 seconds after Flacco released the ball.

The refs are just way too inconsistent. It's obvious that the NFL wants to protect their money makers. The money makers like Brady and Manning are what draw in the casual fan. If they get hurt the casual fan isn't going to care about watching Brian Hoyer or Jim Sorgi. Unfortunately it has a lot to do with promoting the NFL IMO.

the key for me was that he lowered his head AFTER the pass was thrown...that to me indicates he wasn't in the middle of a tackle and unable to stop himself or anything. He clearly meant to hit Joe...but of course, no flag.

I think that is the play I am talking about, Warren came around the left side and just slammed right into Flacco's chest like 1 full second after he threw the ball.

The NFL prints money whether a star QB goes down or not. It does not matter. The NFL is king and it always will be, no matter who gets hurt.

I acually LOVE the idea of making the call either a 5 yarder or 15 yarder but guess what? Not happening because again the NFL wants to protect the "product" and keep the officials from officiating in case they make a bad call and look bad. Facemask just went from 5 and 15 to just 15, there aint no way they would change it for a hit on the QB.

Makes all the sense in the world, but it won't happen so the officials can get off and make as few judgement calls as possible that

Yeah, I liked that (and i normally hate harrison)- but you had to know that smile said it was all in jest. He meant it- but he and Tom are friends and theyll kick back and drink a beer laughing at those remarks. Tom will si,ply say

"Hey man, if the refs are dumb enough to give me the flag anytime I say to, why would i not do it!! Come on bro!"

I still cant stand either of them. Brady showed his true colors against the Bills on MNF when he shunned Suzy Kolber. He's a spoiled douchebag who is only happy when he gets his way- but will laugh, smirk, and gloat when he does.

Seriously. Questionable brushing low by Suggs, dude turns around and screams for a flag, then later tells Ray, "That's a cheap one"? Is there any bigger douchebag move than that?

Lost all respect I had for Brady today. Guy is a chump.

I think football should be played with all of the original rules of the game, whatever they were. Every year, the league adds and adds more rules that interfere with the natural roughness of the game. Football is suppose to be rough and it is natural that players get hurt. That is why they get millions of dollars to play. Johnny Unitas was hurt many times during his career and even played with blood gushing from his nose! What did he do? Shove mud up his face and went out and finished the game. That is classic football!

FYI refs, VisionWorks has a special now. Buy 2 pairs of eye glasses for $129. I would jump right on that. I do appreciate Rodney Harrison's comments, about time someone can see it the way we do.

Apparently according to Peter King, Harrison is shocked at everyone's reaction and is saying he was joking about it. In which case, he's no longer my hero.

I like Harrison. He hasn't been afraid to call guys out when they should be. He shouldn't back down from this though...there's no question he's right. Brady went from a Superman QB that was resilient through pressure to being a whiny little bitch in one game in my eyes. That sort of actions wasn't what I expect of a man...it's what I expect from my 2 year old daughter.

He might have been saying it in a joking matter, but he wasn't joking, men don't joke about comments like that. He may have been laughing as he was saying it or appeared joking but the fact is that he said it, so it must have been what he was thinking.

It doesn't really matter if it was after the pass, during, or before. The rule against "leading with the helmet" was clearly violated... and I think a blind dog could have seen that!

My 2 year old ... OK, she'll be 2 in a couple months - but she can take hits harder than those plays that got flags.
It was craptastic. :141847_bdmoon:

You know this shit was bad when the announcers and anaylze are talking about. The Suggs roughing the passer made Chris Berman's C'Mon list on espn.

#2 You know it is bad when you have none fans coming up saying man that was a poor officiated game. I live in Colorado and it's all Bronco nation out here, and the guys i work with were like man you guys got screwed. I told them they play NE next so don't look at Brady the wrong way
