Does the Name changing thing also have to do with the Icons beside each thread?

If so why is it still Your Baltimore Ravens & why do they get to keep their Ravens stuff.....

That board is garbage now, I don't even bother browsing anymore over there.

I was referring to the name change, and the fact that we used to have little raven logos and know we have a corkboard with notes stuck on it.

while the other Ravens message board has the name YOur Baltimore Ravens circled in red and the Raven threads circled in yellow

It is definitly BS that this site has to change and that one doesn't.

On a related note, that was the worst site re-design of all time. It is near unreadable. DRay did a good job of getting people back in line and I was still posting a good amount over there, but I have pretty much stopped since I can't look at that disgusting webpage anymore.

Folks we just have to be in compliance. I'm in touch with the NFL now and they've been very cooperative. We will have something to replace the logo buttons...We are in the process of designing our own.

As for the other boards, we can't speak for them....we can only tend to our own business. We plan on being here for a long time and we plan on adding some new things throughout the offseason, not just here but on the main site as well. Most might think that the NFL is policing too much. But it is what it is and we really have no other choice but to comply.

We'll be ok and then some.

If you have any suggestions, we're always open to your thoughts.

Thanks as always for your support and for being part of 24x7!

I got banned from that Board by DDay, so I dont bother to browse there anymore.

But the new upgrade would have been the straw that broke the camels back between these two boards.

Its impossible to read that one now. Looks terrible. Who made that decision?

This board is by far superior.

In the defense of the NFL [ducks], I think they may be concerned if they let a bunch of folks on the web use the team logos or lookalikes, then they will forfeit their right to the protection the law gives them for those insignia.

I'm not sure about that, but it might be they are trying to do something they have to do for business reasons, and are not being asses for the sake of being asses.

All the scout network boards are moving to that format, TerpSportsReport.com went to that format in the last week as well.

IT was a forced move by Scout (and I believe there parent company FoxSports.com). Still I'm stunned that they settled on that design. It makes my eyes bleed.

This board is superior in every way except traffic. When this place started it was a haven from an imploding YBR. YBR actually settled down a bit with stricter moderation and was still the place to get the fastest news.

I never want this place overrun with idiot posters and especially no trolls (both Ravens and opposing teams), but I wish we could add some more quality people or get the ones we have to commit over here more full time.

If we do bring more people in we need to make sure they stay in the spirit of community we have here. I love this board because it really is like a tailgate or a local bar.

I know what you mean. I stopped by there to check out my favorite off season thread and couldn't believe how horrible the redesign was. It is literally unreadable.

Would that be the "Hot Chicks" thread?

And yes, the re-design is horrid.

The white hurts my eyes and I also didn't like the constant bombardment of buy premium membership this and that every 2 threads, but i do venture over to check out 2 threads.

The draft thread since this one over here seems to have died down, and the Hot chicks thread.

Also I don't like the constant

THe lack of traffic is why I havent been posting here much.

But with the redesign of YBR, and the growing number of trolls, I find myself over here more and more often.

BTW another reason is threads like this one:

http://forums.scout.com/mb.aspx?S=118&F=1666&T=53210&STO=pagestart

It basically asks why not trade Heap for a high pick and take the TE from the U.

I dunno, its your website. j/k

Thats the problem, more traffic means more junk posters.

Although I do think that not being connected to the Scout network virtually cuts us off from 99% of all opposing teams trolls.

I dont think everyone realizes how good this board is as far as format and content is concerned.

I like to think of it as "our" website. Really...

I have had offers to get connected with other sites for other teams -- a coalition of sorts I suppose. Any thoughts on that? To date, I have not acted upon it. I thought to do too many things at once would make it difficult to measure the effectiveness of any individual change...:eyes:

It's not a coalition of the willing, like the one fighting in Iraq is it? b/c that would basically just leave us

The Mod.s run a tight ship right here, this is a well run board. It looks great & is nicely functional.

Under the banner "The grass is always greener" I'd urge you to think long and hard before making significant changes.

Not suggesting significant changes or changes at all. Perhaps just a way to bring on some of the posters that you all consider insightful...

Admin24x7 does an outstanding job!

And we're always open to suggestions. Of course some get shot down. Sort of like the time I asked my fiance if she would clip my toenails after she finished with the dishes while I reclined in my easy chair, having a beer and watching 24.

"This board is moving along nicely. "

I agree completely. At first it made me nervous that there was only a few of us. I think that is because I was so used to having to deal with 9,000 people (and a whole lot of ummmmmmmmmm . . . . okay . . . . how about trolls?), that I forgot about how nice it was to have a place to post that was a "cyber" tailgate.

I have been around since the beginning and this place reminds me of the old days when I had to be the only moderator because we all were civil and just having fun. I remember how a lot of us actually met face to face and really would love to have that happen again. Some of us I know . . . lots of you I wish I could meet :D We really have a great time tailgating . . . maybe next year I'll get to meet some of you guys.

That being said . . . . hooking up with with a network of smaller boards of opposing fans could be fun . . . . anyone remember the crazy cousin wars we had with the Browns fans?

I'm rambling . . . sorry :grbac:

I've been trying to stick it out over there but that redesign may be the final nail in the coffin. I hope they get their act together though.

I still think having us divided across two boards is not good for anybody, but with that horrid redisign maybe more folks will defect over to here.

GreenWave52

I like how this thread has developed.

I would not necesarily link to another network. That is going to get us trolls more than anything else. I find even the decent ones like Yip annoying (I think he got banned here), or the best one, IanWhetstone, preachy but informative and tolerable. There are a couple of opposing team fans I like: Amudgarten and Fat Elvis come to mind but that's about it.

I think we or a couple of us should make another pass at YBR and give invitations to the good posters that have emerged since we left. Make sure they know they can bring others but they have to be good posters. Quality is more important than quantity, but we do need more quantity.

Also, I haven't seen some of my favorite posters here lately (I'm guilty of being spotty myself) like ERiG and Stinger.

Ultimately though, I think it is a really down time in the season for us with nothing to talk about that hasn't been discussed until the draft talk starts gearing up in a couple of weeks.

I don't visit YBR much anymore but I have been there since the redesign, and I agree with what just about everyone else is saying -- the new format is really pretty bad.

I happen to like this board a lot -- there are some good posters at the other board, but there are also a lot of not-so-good posters that often drown out the good ones. The ratio of good to not-so-good is better here.

ladyraven127

You all are welcome to invite whomever you like to this board.

I happen to like the slow growth. It helps to get to know each other a little better and helps to keep the peace as we grow larger. If we all feel like we know each other then the bad stuff tends to not emerge as much :nerd:

I like this board a lot better than YBR, but I do sort of miss all the activity over there in the old days. If Ravens news broke, there would be 3 threads on it all at once. It was a great way to get the news quickly and also see many opinions. Over here, the threads are few and far between. I know it comes with building a dedicated core of users, but this place is definitely headed in the right direction!

I agree. It will probably get harder to build a core though. I believe the Raven's website is going to be adding message boards soon as well. That will make 4 (5?) different Raven's forums?

Just because there are official boards doesn't mean anyone has to use them. There are other teams whose best boards are not the ones on the team site.

I'm a Caps fan and the official boards are their primary message board. As much as I like it over there the faceless Mods can alter things at any given time and also implement a crazy word filter. For example if you say "ass" it posts as "that donkey from that other movie". Also, one of the players whose first name is Semen only posts as "Shipsman".

I think the Ravens might be getting to the party too late to really dominate the message board scene. The site closest to this one for another team is PewterReport.com and that is the go to Bucs message board for everything.

I don't think the Ravens official board will dominate by any means. My point is that as new fans look for forums they already have several options. So the fan base may end up being well divided and none of the forums will get enough "good" posters to be the main destination.

One thing we thought about and simply didn't do last season was ask members of that week's opponent's message boards to come on over.

We kept quiet and you will notice that the Colt's fans found us in the final weeks of the season. I'm sure that next year (this year) this board will be positioned nicely to be found easily by fans of the opponents for that week.

It will be fun.

We have absolutley everything going for us and by the time training camps roll around, this will be a great place for Ravens fans to hang.
