I posted a slo-mo video of the Brady Quinn hit that injured Terrell Suggs yesterday and the traffic in 1 day has been shocking as well as the hate in the comments section.
If you care to check it out, here it is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoJeLA6HDs4)

2 things:
First, the argument that Quinn was trying to go through Suggs to make the tackle is foolish. Suggs wasn't even looking downfield. Watch the video...if Quinn was really trying to make the tackle on Carr, he could have more easily gone around the back side of Suggs and very easily made the tackle on Carr. There was space for that move and Carr was a couple steps behind Suggs and would have been right in that space.
Secondly, I always love the hard ass "ex-high school" football "stars" who make the comments to the extent that "back in my day, that would have been a good block" and how "pussified the NFL is today". It easy to say that sitting back on your couch stuffing your face with a bag of potato chips.

This doesn't look malicious to me. He didn't try to injure the guy, at least not in my opinion.

The rule is in place becaue that kind of block causes injury more often than most any other kind of block. Like a horse collar tackle causes a lot of broken legs.
There was no reason to do it other than to hurt Suggs.
He did not have the ball, and was not trying to block him.
It was like when Sapp hit that O lineman for no reason away from the play, only it was not even a legal block.
There is no excuse for it. He had no reason to throw a block in the first place, and he knew Suggs was not looking and he went low.
How is that ok on any level?
It is like drunk driving. It is not ok even if no one gets hurt, but when someone does, you have to pay, and 10 k is not nearly enough.

Agreed on all counts!
What a joke to say he was trying to make a tackle. Suggs wasn't even looking nor did he have the ball!
And the typical Steeler jerk offs show up saying Suggs has always been cheap, um yea OK. Ben gets creamed more than any other QB because he holds onto the ball for so long, has nothing to do with being dirty.

No, but he looked like he was trying to throw a block. And that begs the question exactly why would you throw a block when you are the quarterback and now playing defense?
I don't think anyone is arguing that Quinn was trying to hurt Suggs. But the fact is there was no reason to try and hit Suggs, and that made it cheap.
