colts 30, ravens 17
Colts 41, Ravens 10
Colts 31, Ravens 10.
Colts 34 Ravens 24
Colts 30 Ravens 13
india-noplace 41 baltimore 20
Colts 38 Ravens 10
Just a couple of predictions from the board this week. I didn't pick but would have gone something like Colts 24 Ravens 13 if I had.
I can't believe the anger and hopelessness on this board other than a few who are resisting the trend. Kudos to UKravengordon for representing those of us that were pleasantly surprised today. What a great game...edge of the seat, no voice left kind of game.
Everyone remember the tone of this board all week? The 7-8 sunpaper so called "experts" that predicted the Ravens to lose by double digits? the questioning of the Vegas line all week?
The Ravens controlled the momentum for most of the day. Played the better game albeit lost the all important score. Minus the opening drive, our defense manned up against probably the greatest QB of all time having one of his greatest years.
Anyone see the day Ladarius Webb had against Clark? Practically shut him out - 1 catch for 3 yards.
This team today out-performed this boards honest expectations. Yet, such negativity.
If anyone remembers the tone in Baltimore all week, we should be more encouraged by today's performance than not. The team showed up. Chin up fellers...lots of football still left.

Remember, if the Ravens don't win every game they ever play then everyone should be fired and the team should move by the very next day!! At least that is what some would say.....

Enough of the pity party. It's time for the forces of equanimity to reassert themselves.
Steelers Week begins in 53 minutes. Time to man up.

If you wouldn't mind, as soon as each game ends, please lay out how fans should react.
That way we will all know and nobody will be confused.
Thanks

i'm not angry or hopeless, galen, nor was i when i listed my prediction for the indy game. i was being realistic. there was absolutely no indication that the ravens would/should win. the ravens played the irsays tough, and had an opportunity to win. thats all any fan can ask for. the truth is, the ravens have too many shortcomings to be an elite team in the nfl this year.

PP,
No problem. As you often appear so confused on this forum, I would be more than happy to help you out.

G7 - Don't you realise we're meant to throw the entire team under the bus after every loss.
Hey, I'm not saying we're the best team in football. But our 5 losses have come to teams that have lost a total of 7 games. And the only one we weren't really in was the Bengals one. And when you look at how young the key parts of our offense are, I think there's a ton of reasons to be optimistic.

Exactly. The Defense has been really manning up lately, and that is a good sign heading into the Pitt game. For some strange reason, though, the Offense has become inexplicably impotent! Time for some Viagra. Serously, though, I was very pleased with the team's performance yesterday, except for the O-line laying an egg on the goal line.

It must be nice to live in a world where the Ravens have very few talent deficits and no cause for immediate concern. How wonderful that we showed up to play a tough game against a tough team, and unfortunate that we came up ju-u-u-u-ust short! Yes, this is a loss we should TRULY be proud of!
There's a reason we're 5-5 right now. Yes, we're a couple plays away from being 8-2 or even 9-1. But guess what? So are most of the other NFL teams. And there's a reason we didn't make those plays.
So pardon those of us that look at this loss for what it is... A loss, where we played fundamentally poor football down the stretch when it counted most, and left nothing short of 10 points on the field thanks to that talent deficit.
Good teams don't do that.

Well, you know, if you complain about losing you really aren't a fan. Because we only lost by 2 points, so that is really more of a win than a loss......really.

Yeah but we'd still be 5-5 since beating the Browns by 16 is really more of a loss than a win...

I really don't give a flying you know what about how close we were compared to some who thought it would be a blowout.
We had a chance to win a big game...and lost.
Again.
The whole "we hung with one of the best teams in football" and "they won't want to see us again" stuff was cute after the Patriot game. It made me feel a little better after the Bengal game. And it softened the blow against the Vikings.
But I'm tired of choking down the stretch anytime we play a good team with a quality QB.
I'm sorry, I thought we'd be fighting for a potential bye in the playoffs...maybe even an outside shot at the #1 seed and actually looking forward to a couple home playoff games...and now we are behind the Jaguars.
The bottom line is come the second week in January, the playoffs will be seeded on wins and losses...not margins of losses or the quality of your losses or who got screwed by the refs the most...it's just your wins, and your losses. We need to win some of those games we let slip away.
Like Parcells said, you are what your record says you are.
No I am not giving up on the season, I will continue to watch every game and get pumped when we win/do good things, and curse the team when we lose/suck. I did it in the late 90's when we weren't any good and I did it during the 2000 season and every other successful year we have had. We have a shot to back in and I truly hope we do and we can do it. But don't sit here and try and call out fans who are disappointed with the team...players and coaches...and tell them what they should feel. I'm not on here telling anyone that they are being too optimistic or whatever...we all have our own right to feel what we feel and say what we say.

I challenge you to find a team that has played a tough a schedule as ours and can claim to be within 4 plays of 9-1. You claim "most of the other NFL teams" could say such a thing, so find me a team that is 4 plays from 9-1 and has played teams with 10 collective losses (to be fair I am counting the Bengals losses twice since we played them twice).
This team has a problem finishing, which isn't because of a talent deficit. It is a maturity thing for Flacco and Harbaugh among a number of things.

:iagree:
How we come out of that game yesterday feeling worse as fans astounds me. Am I happy? No Am I packing it in? No
This team has not been short on the "character builders" this year. Through all of the tight losses, the team has stayed together which I guess will give the credit to the coaches on that dynamic. There are still chapters to be written on this season.

We aren't four plays from being 9-1, don't kid yourself. Clayton makes the catch, we still have to get in the end zone and keep Tom Brady from driving. We stop Caldwell the Bengals still have another shot. We kick the FG vs. Indi we still have to stop Peyton from driving. We're one kick from being 6-4...BFD. We're also a converted 4th and 2 in SD from risking being 4-6.
On FO we're not the top strength of schedule. We've played the most great teams. But we've also played a few real duds.

Here's the FO stuff (http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teameff) with strength of schedule. The schedule we've played thus far is 17th and our future schedule is 24th.
