Can you believe this story (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6436876)?
The Indianapolis Colts' first Super Bowl appearance made Calvary Temple want to party like it never had before.
The church planned a Sunday shindig for about 100 young adults, complete with snacks and a big screen TV to watch the game. "It's just a good opportunity to get everybody together, have some fellowship and fun and watch the Super Bowl," business manager Bill Kaler said.
But temple leaders scrapped the idea after learning the NFL stopped a similar get-together at another Indianapolis church, saying it would violate copyright laws.

Has the NFL gone insane?:229031_confused2: So what if a Church makes a profit from a SB party? What does the NFL think churches do with their profits?
Have a good laugh next time you watch one of those NFL ads braging on how the NFL "gives". :liar:

Between this and the obvious bias from the refs in getting Peyton and Bettis SuperBowl rings, I'm almost ready to throw my hands up and forget about the NFL.

The NFL is out of control. I wish baseball would turn things around to get the NFL squirming.

I don't know who in the league office came up with this brilliant idea, but they are going to regret it. This is not the kind of publicity they need. This stupid, stupid, STUPID!

I've been sayin it for at least 2-3 years now...the NFL is flirting with disaster.
You can only get SO greedy before people tune you out.

At least the church is calling the NFLs bluff and going ahead anyway. Even if the league sues and wins they still lose.

Funny how the more money something or someone makes, the less common sense they seem to have

Separation of church and football!!!
lol
That's some funny shit right there.
Here is my take on the larger issue- Sports fans bitch, but they continue to go to games & spend their money. We all know baseball is a cluster fuck- Yet Last year they made more money then ever.
We have had multiple threads bitching about the ridiculous ticket increases... But fans love the Ravens, so they will take the kick in the balls, go to the games, or someone else will.
I get the the feeling the people in charge are secretly laughing at their fan base.

i'm almost at a boiling point with the NFL, too.
To me it was something as small as changing the referee's uniforms so that Budweiser couldn't use them in a commercial without paying licensing fees.

I can understand the part of the NFL stopping the churches from charging food in the name of a Super Bowl bash, but how can you stop them from watching the game at the church?
What is next? Stopping folks from having SB parties at home? That is ridiculous.

I know the NFL has been very popular here of late...but, with all do respect they are going to start losing fan base.
1) Rising Tix prices
2) Messing with site like this, Name changes etc....
3) Messing with Fan group like the Nest's and Roost's; again with name changes
4) now with fellowship and church groups
The MLB has been in just the opposite position here of late. They are doing more fan friendly things. It is all about the money....I am glad I sold my PSL's this year...I want know parts of this.
Totally disagree. Despite all of this, folks will still go to the games.
1. You'll pay the prices as will everyone else.
2. You are still posting, so you can't be that turned off.
3. Those groups will just change their names and continue on.
4. Churches and fellowship will just have to not charge persons.
Why do you think the NFL and MLB do these pathetic stunts? Because they can.

Yea, for now.
But you can see a trend and it's not a good one. The NFL knows it's king and they are started to abuse it.
Will I give up my PSLs as of now? No. But there's always a start to a demise of an empire.
They better not kill the golden goose.

They can to a point...Just ask the MLB players....You can not get blood from a turnip....
1) You pay the prices...I will stay at home and watch it for free and go watch the blackbirds...I am still a fan, but, I will not pay anymore for these communist's
2) I am posting because I am a fan of the Ravens...just like I was and am of the Orioles...Besides...what does posting have t do with this?
3) Still wrong...Suck it up and drive on only applies if your in the military...I am out of the military now so.....I will drive on without paying anymore to them.
4) Great...make people jump through hoops....just what we need more bureaucracy.
I could be at the SB if I wanted to pay thousands for tix..I chose not to pay that much....Just like the 10- 20 extra dollars they are charging per ticket next year...You are going to have to make a fortune to go to theses games...Every man/ women has a breaking point.....The NFL is not going in the right direction as far as gaining fan support...they are loosing peoples respect with bureaucracy like the above named things.
BTW...why is the NFL not taking care of the founding fathers of their game..They are certainly not impressing me....are the impressing you? Do you think this is a good way to build this sport or do you think they are so big they an do what they want? If its the latter.....We have an obligation to show them the people and the fans are bigger!!!!:usa:
1. Just to clarify, when I was saying you, I did not mean you personally. I was speaking in general.
2. That is true that everyone does have that "breaking point."
3. You are DAMN SPOT ON as it pertains to the Pension issue. Don't gt me started on that. I am faaaaarrrrrr away from even thinking retirement, but I have a great pension plan with my job. The fact that there are retired NFL players getting as low as $150 per month is worse than an embarrassment. (Mackey is getting $400 per month, I believe). That is worse is that today's player don't want to do anything about it, and the NFLPA rep (who played with these guys) does not want to do anything about as he has his $3M per season job. Pathetic.

All good points, but are we (The Fans) strong enough to take a stand? If we stop going to the games, then they blackout the TV coverage. It seems they have us by the Beernuts.
