According to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean:
Titans rookie quarterback Vince Young is going to the Pro Bowl.
Young, the offensive rookie of the year, will replace Chargers QB Philip Rivers on the AFC roster. An announcement by the league is expected today.

Looks like Steve McNair will stay home....Wonder if this development was the act of a selfless mentor?

I think he did say no so Vince could go. It's pretty nuts that Vince is going as a rookie, even if he was the NFL's 6th choice.
If Manning opts out McNair could still go.

They need to make the Pro Bowl worth something to the players.
It would be worth watching if the starters actually played.
They should make the PB decide the home team for the SB, and maybe build in some new advantages for the home SB team.
Any other ideas for making the ProBowl wort while for the players?

I don’t know if they get paid for going to the pro bowl or not, but I’m sure putting money on the table for the winning team would be more then enough to entice the players.

Im against that for a few reasons.
1. The Pro Bowl is the only All-Star game that takes place after the season. Some of these guys have been done playing since New Years' Eve.
2. The rules in the Pro Bowl are different than regular games (i.e. no blitzing etc....)
3. Many of the players play injured during the year and need as much time as possible to heal before mini and training camps. Jan. and half of Feb. needs to be used for rehab etc.. for those players.
What MLB has done is OK I guess but let's be honest. The best teams from each league don't always play due to fan votes.
And one more thing. The Super Bowl is held at a neutral field (there's never been a team to make the SB and play in their home stadium) for all intents and purposes. I can't really think of any home field advantage except for something meaningless like letting one team choose which uniforms they will wear.

Most players have some sort of bonus in their individual contracts if they make the pro bowl.
And let's be honest, the amount of money needed to make it worth it to this millionaires would be too much.
I don't see anything about the Pro Bowl changing any time soon.

They shouldn't even have the game, instead they should just announce the teams and then have some kind of awards ceremony or something that they could broadcast on NFL Network or ESPN the week after the Super Bowl.

The Pro Bowl is worthless. Tony Romo made the Pro Bowl. Case closed.

They should just get a trip to Hawaii and then have a Madden tournament among the probowlers. I might actually watch that too.

The league was working for over a week to try to convince Tom Brady to take Rivers spot, but he would rather go play golf at Pebble Beach.
The problems with the Pro Bowl are:
1) It's stupid, not real football
2) The rules are not regular
3) Once these guys go once or twice, they really don't feel like going again - Been there done that.

That might make them go more often, but it most certainly wouldn't make them WANT to play. The best players don't play that way because of money

Yep- Game is a waste of time. I've never watched a whole one.
#1) We get to see interviews with millionaires who are bragging about the free trip.
#2) Exhibition football, especially after the season, is pointless.
Send Andrew Walter for the AFC I don't care.
