The two SB participants both have two RBs that are featured and utilized in the offense. (Colts: Addai/Rhodes. Bears: Jones/Benson). Add to this the Chargers with LT and Turner and the Broncos who have been featuring multiple backs for years.

The days of having Gayle Sares or Barry Sanders as THE back are over.

This is the course the Ravens must go. PJ Daniels (if he can cure the fumbleitis) could be part of a two RB attack for us. Daniels was supposed to be the Chester Taylor type scat back, but he is a maulinh type RB in the mold of Jamal Lewis and MA.

This draft, we should get a true shifty runner to pair up with Daniels. While some will argue that we can't go into next season with a second RB/Rookie RB combo, but I disagree. RB is a position where most often you can draft a young back to make an immediate impact. (Joseph Addai is a rookie. Willie Parker was an UDFA and in his second or third year before he broke out in the Steelers SB season).

I would feel comfortable with a Daniels/rookie RB combo with MA as the third string RB. The one RB days are definitely over.

Barber/Jacobs, Jones/Barber, Maroney/Dillon, Taylor/Jones-Drew, Foster/WilliamsDSuece/Bush,Thunder/Lightening it's an old concept dating back to when FB's were actually used. Now it's more of a rotation thing, though FB's are becoming effective receiving and short yardage backs once again.

But then there are the Stephen Jackson's, Larry Johnson's, Shaun Alexander(when Healthy), Clinton Portis(WH), etc 90% touch backs. But guess what? Every team is really looking ot have 2 guys who can be that type guy if necessary, and a couple of guys capable of sharing carries. Because injuries happen. Is it coincidence that all four top playoff teams had 2 solid starting quality backs? NO, teams that make it in the playoffs, avoid the injury bug. Looking to the next level reveals the running game deficiencies of the other playoff contenders. Jamal was shaky at best and MA under-utilized. Philly had little besides Westbrook, Though when ealthy Alexander and Tomlinson can do it all. Of the Wild Card teams only the Jets were terribly questionable at RB. Good teams have either multiple solid backs or one exceptional back.

The raven's current roster includes Mike Anderson, PJ Daniels and nothing. No PS'ers, nothing. With virtually NO FA activity expected that eithe3r meansw getting Musa back at a nice cheap discount and drafting a guy, or drafting 2. If we draft two I say one in each day, 1 big, 1 small. If I draft a back on day 1, it's because I think that he could eventually be a guy to carry the load by himself, or fill multiple roles like Reggie Bush and Maurice Jones-Drew.
