View Full Version : Manning As SB MVP Is A Farce

The true MVP of this game is Dominic Rhodes. It is sad how everything is media driven. Manning is the MVP only to further hype him more than he should be hyped.

The true MVP is Bob Sanders. With Joseph Addai a close second. And Brian Billick 3rd (just for TL!)

KOLTS win the SB... Oh the Humanity!!!!

Actually you can't say Manning wasn't MVP. He ran the offense extremely well tonight. Without him they lose the game.

I agree Daskcool. Tonight Manning was much more valuable to the Colts than Rhodes was. However, had Rhodes scored another touchdown he would have won the award hands down.

My opinion was that Addai and Rhodes should have split the award tonight, much like Manning and McNair did a few years ago. They broke the Bears' back and made it easy on Manning

Running game won it for the colts.

.....actually, can we give the Anti-MVP to Grossman?

It absolutely killed me watching the game, the bears had so many chances and Grossman kept screwing up.

It hurt me watching the bears put out such an inferior product out there.

For as much hype as the Bears D got they didn't come close to our defensive performance. It really makes me appreciate how special our defense was.

Also I know hindsight is 20/20 but if Mcnair throws that TD instead of the int and we get either a FG or a TD we are down only 1 score at the end of the game and were primed for a mcnair 2 minute drill for the win.

***DISCLAIMER***
I know you can't predict if this happened instead of this the game would have still happened the way it did but I think if we get that TD at that point we win.

but for the life of me I can't figure it out.

Before our problem was our Wr's suck we need better Wr's, so we got them.
Next came our QB, we cant win without a better QB , so we got Mcnair.
WIth mcnair and our improved Wr's we were supposed to be able to "stretch" the field and get the 8th and 9th men out of the box.

What the hell happened, I always want to have a dominating defense but why cant we have 1 good and 1 decent running/passing game. doesnt matter which, b/c as we know having an amazing running game and a bad passing game doesnt work. This year we had mediocre passing/running games.

What's it going to take? I thought I was over the Colts loss, but I am starting to believe that I may be worse now then I was 2 weeks ago...someone please help me....

Everyone knew before the game even started that if the Colts won the game they would make Manning MVP.

the Colts' was a team win. this wasn't a great Peyton game, but he deserves the award as much as anyone.

Yeah, I don't know how you can say Manning winning the SB MVP is a farce.

No one else on the Colts REALLY stood out last night. Addai had over 100 all purpose yards--and so did Rhodes--but I can't see them splitting an MVP between to guys for one game.

I can also see the justification for Rhodes or Addai, but neither one of them did enough to make Manning winning it a farce. Manning had a pretty good game and basically played mistake-free football. The running game put the Colts over the top, but without Manning, the Colts would have a MUCH tougher time beating the Bears. Manning has been the backbone of that team for a LONG time; he deserved the MVP.

And I agree with F Angelos; Billick should have been in the running for SB MVP for the Colts!

The MVP was NOT peeton manning. But I disagree w/ your choice as well. I tho:hammer: ught it should have been Addai! He kept the drives alive. He had 77 yds running, but the dump-off passes were the game, imo, he gained over 100 yds on 10 catches. Without those, the dolt's offense would have stalled on 3 of those drives!!!!!

It already happened in Super Bow 12 with Harvey Martin and Randy White.

My choice would have been a split Addai/Rhodes award, but failing that, I probably would have picked Hayden as for as dominant as the Colts were for a lot of the game, it wasn't until Hayden's interception and return for a TD that the thing was clinced- or even all that comfortable.

Still, I don't really have a major problem with Manning winning it, especially when you factor in the awful conditions. If you want to go back to a QB winning an MVP he had no business winning, go back to Tom Brady in the Patriots' first Super Bowl. That baby should have gone to Ty Law.

That's right. Good point.

I'm not partial to anyone getting the award, simply because no one REALLY stood out in that game. My point is that it shouldn't be a "farce" that Manning got the MVP. I thought he deserved it as much as anyone.

They were saying during the game that Rhodes is more comfortable coming off the bench.

I want a guy that can start.

I actually wish they would just get rid of the Super Bowl MVP award. It's a team game, and many years there is no obvious winner. And the fact that the media votes on it before the game is even over is a joke.

The MVP clearly should have been one (or both) of the Indy running backs. Peyton had an average game and made some costly turnovers. As we all know, the MVP was decided before this game was ever played.
