Let me first say that this was DESPITE the Colts winning tonight...

It was an awesome night. I went with four friends to watch the Super Bowl at TGI Friday's. The outside area was reserved for the football team here in Brasília, and one of my friends played there. It was absolutely thrilling. When Hester returned the opening KO for TD, the place was as noisy as any in the US. The energy was extremely intense, and it was all added by the fact that my friend called the EXACT final score, winning a Wilson football at the end. It was absolutely terrific

Also, for the first time, we had a nationally-produced pre-game show, including a correspondent in Miami. I was really happy to see the way football gained some space here this year. It's fantastic

All this is to say that the lines between national and international get more and more blurry by the year. We were watching an American sport in an American-franchise restaurant, but you could still feel Brazil in the place. It was amazing, and hopefully a great sign of things to come

In spite of all the high and lows, this was truly a grand year for football. Here's to many more! :beer1: Thanks to all of you guys!
