Apparently Ravens fans really made an impression in Gillette Stadium on Sunday! We heard from coach Harbaugh that the fan support was tremendous, and here's an article from the NE area that will make you guys smile. An excerpt:

"Purple was everywhere, and as each player went into that area, well, you might as well have been in Maryland. That was after another interesting moment, this one coming prior to the game, when during the national anthem, Baltimore's trademark "O!" shout was audible."

I read that article too. Of course, if you read all the comments, it's filled with Pats fans who want to claim there were hardly any Ravens fans there. Whatever. I wasn't there but know quite a few people who were. I know you guys represented well.

Yeah the comments are pretty funny. Most say there were "1,000-2,000 Ravens fans tops". Any estimates from people who were actually there?

My friend and I bought tickets in section 328 on Thursday for only $10 over face value. And that is because they were in the first row. You could get plenty of tickets at face value.

There were multiple groups of Ravens fans in every section and every tailgate lot. The WNST group owned their section. I am sure the whole stadium heard them cheering.

I had at least three Pats fans ask me how we bought out the stadium.

I will say Patriots fans in New England are a thousand times better than Red Sox fans in Baltimore. We talked with everyone around us and I did not see a single skirmish. Most of them wished us good luck against Indy.

That being said Gillette stadium is a POS or Baltimore just spoils us. Jumbotron's were tiny maybe half the size, 2 men's BRs on the entire upper level sideline, the best food service was freaking McD's..., no game programs or giveaways. They do not show stats or anything during the game. Basically, it was a couple of big college grandstands with a "Patriot Place" mall on the outside of it.

The tailgating looked promising though. And they allow open fires after the game which was neat.

My GF's sister went and she said 50/50...I find that hard to believe but it sounds like there was a very good showing of Raven fans there. I did notice alot of empty seats after halftime...and Harbs running a victory lap slapping hands was pretty cool.

I wasn't there but they showed some close ups through the crowd and I know I was really surprised how much purple there was. It's not like it was overpowering, but there looked to me like there were a lot of Ravens fans there.

I could hear them clearly & loudly chanting "Heeeeap" as Heap came off in Q4.

There is no question there were a lot of them there, and the Patriots fans commenting on that blog/column are just wrong.

I'm guessing for a fan base used to deep playoff runs and multiple home games, a first-round game in bad weather wasn't a big sell. same thing happened to the Braves; after annual playoff runs they couldn't sell out for the early postseason games.

3,000-4,000 easily. That anthem was funny and very loud. If you went to New Orleans 3 years ago, there was double that at this game.

I was there in section 324, we had 50 in our group and more behind us. It was definitely not 50/50, but I am thinking we had 4,000 to 6,000. Just looking across the upper level and lowers there did not seem to be a section that did not have Ravens fans. It was a great turnout, and hopefully we have an even better turnout this week.

Camdenyards and I were there. The 4-6,000 is probably pretty accurate. We were in 308 and there was only 2 other Ravens fans in our section. there seemed to be a lot more in the lower sections.

I don't know who mentioned the bad weather but it was not bad weather at all. I actually didn't wear my gloves or coat for the entire first half. It was probably 28 degrees or something but the sun was warm. The second half got a little chilly as some clouds came in and the sun began to lower. It was a very nice day considering it was January in New England.

99% of the fans were very, very nice. You had some playful ribbing but that's it. Once couple at the end of the game (who were obviously drunk) were yelling at Camden and I that the Ravens sucked. This was 5 minutes left in the game after all of the Patriot fans had evactuated. Camden just pointed them to the scoreboard.

There was also one guy who went on and on about Ray Lewis. Normally this is my hot button but we were beating them so bad that even that was bothering me.

Sounds like my recent visit to Pittsburgh. I sat in the lower level and the fans down there were pretty good, with just some occasional good-natured ribbing (which you have to expect). Getting into and out of the game were a different story.

I guess all of the classless douchebags sit in the upper levels because I almost got in about four fights just leaving the stadium. Some of these assholes would walk up to Ravens fans and tell them they thought they were faggots -- although I saw this happen to two older gentleman that were very small guys, not to anybody that would actually retalliate. I was wearing a Titleist hat and I was told about eight times, "We're not at a country club!!". I guess that's an insult in Pittsburgh??

On a side note, I was walking right next to Franco Harris in the parking lot outside the stadium. People were walking up and getting pictures with him. I walked up to him and getting pictures. I walked up to him in my drunken stupor and said. "You better be glad you didn't have to play the Ravens defense when you were playing!". Good times.

Anyway, it sounds like it wasn't as bad as Shittsburgh, but Boston people were rather obnoxious when I went to Fenway.

I think he meant to say "not" bothering him.

I handle that by making fun of it myself, which significantly removes any pleasure from those trying to get under my skin about it.

"Yeah man, I agree. Did you see how he knifed through the line and killed Brady that first quarter worse than he did those guys in Atlanta?"

"Boy, we did to you what Ray Lewis does to guys in back alleys at night."

Usually shuts them right up.

Good technique -- I will try that sometime at an away game if my "deaf & dumb" act fails.

Surprisingly, I can't really remember a time when someone heckled me directly, except that drunk Deadskin fan after we lost to them during the 2000 Superbowl season at ExLax Field.

Thank goodness LadyRaven was there to keep me from giving him an enema with his own head...http://www.smileyhut.com/angry/angry.gif

I do believe that you were being heckled a bit at Mile High Stadium in the 34 degree rain & sleet game --- until you stood up so they could see the size of the Ravens fan being heckled!

No, but I'm sure they were comparable in terms of how miserable fans felt.

I was sure that at some point hypothermia was going to kick in and I would go into shock...

I did attend both games. As bad as the Lions game was, the Broncos 2007 game was even worse due to lower temp, some sleet, and wind gusts. Worse yet: our team lost. I would have to rank that Broncos game as the most uncomfortable game I have ever attended, any sport, any level.

Not gonna get any disagreement with me on that one, T! The only time I was colder and more miserable was the 40-day deployment I spent in the wilderness of Norway in the winter of 98'...It was so cold a polar bear knocked on my tent and asked to sleep on the sofa!
