If those numbers are correct... well damn, what are we waiting for? Cutting Jamal would free up enough space for the entirety of AD's tag. Do it already! We could trade AD from under the tag, even before free agency started, and still re-sign Jamal (if we want him back) and others (Pashos, Mughelli, our draft picks). It's hard to question Ozzie's decisions after so many years of excellence, but this one seems to be a no-brainer.

I just think the Ravens don't want to screw him over by tagging him. He's been nothing short of a class act his whole tenure in Baltimore. If he can get a 15-16 million signing bonus elsewhere the Ravens should let him! He'll be 30 before next season and any play could be his last (even in practice - see LeCharles Bentley). This is his last chance at the big money and if someone's willing to give it to him they should let them! If not, and we're talking 10-12 million, maybe he'll stay. I think that's what the Ravens are hoping for. They want to keep him, but not to the point of screwing him. He's just been an exemplary team mate and Raven to this point and to tag him would not send the right message to his teammates.

Ok, so what if we can't trade him right away. What if the market needs to set itself. What if this means that Pashos, Mughelli and Jarrett Johnson all get offers, well we can't match or beat them. Ok so now fast forward to the draft, we still have AD taggged, no room under the cap to even sign picks We nwo need to replace two offensive starters, and realistically we still have to get rid of the guy. A little better compensation then the 3rd or 4th we'll get next year just isn't worth the cahnce of even losing Pashos. Let em walk, don't even compete with his offers.
