I love it - two solid D performers...I love it! Mount Cody will soon become a cult hero in Charm City! And Kindle opposite Sizzle....not bad either.

Might not be a pass rusher, but when his technique is on, he can get a dangerous push through the line. Might be good enough to draw attention off a DE or DT beside him?

I'm a HUGE OZ supporter and I hate this pick. I hope this deosn't spell the end of Ngata's Tenure here, he is significantly better then Cody could ever hope to be.
This does seem to signal that the 3-4 is here to stay, and that is a good thing.

I see it as precisely the opposite. Looking at our D-Line talent I feel like we're going to go back to the 4-3 with Cody and Ngata playing the Goose and Adams roles respectively. Suggs gets his pass rush groove back by keeping his hand in the dirt, Kruger has significantly less weight to have to gain, Ray at MLB, JJ in Sharper's old job, and Kindle as the new Boulware.

I agree. I think that's what's on Ozzie's mind, to go back to the 4-3, going back to our successful formula of 2000. My only concern is Cody's possible weight problems. Hopefully he'll keep it in check, and it won't become a hindrance.

Now THAT'S a scary sight if I was a RB!!

I dont think Cody is going to be an every down back.
This pick up signaled to me a strong, 2 down run defender in a 3-4.

He is a big man. A little too jiggly and has to potential to get even fatter. But that does not stop him from claiming he can do a backflip.

I think Ngata will be one of those forever-Ravens. He will be owed a lot of money, but he might be one of those cases where the Ravens open the cash vault.

Bite your tongue on the former, and let us all hope for the latter!

HUh?
Both of our first two picks are almost exclusively 3-4 Players.
Terrance Cody, OBVIOUSLY means they want to keep Ngata at his 5 technique spot, with Redding at the other. Pryce will back them up as well as Talavou, Divens and McKinney We are going back to the 3 DT 5 man front... Kindle will rotate in ala Suggs rookie campaign, likely moving JJ somewhere else. This may help take Ellerbe off the field in passing situations.

I also do not think Cody will be an every down BACK either...because he's a DT :jester:
Although, he could spell Ngata as the crazy goal line FB.
OR, he could be FB while Ngata is the halfback. Think of THAT package!

Well yeah. It was more a comment on them keeping the 3-4 as opposed to being a change to the 4-3.

I had seen that one...but think of Ngata getting the ball as the halfback! Former rugby player, very athletic. That'd be some package with Cody creating space and Ngata just trucking through a guy or two.

LOL @ LeRon being benched from the heavy package because he isn't big enough.

I'm seeing Ngata at goalline TE. Cody at FB. LeRon scoring TDs.

I'd say either this year or next, Cody takes over Kelly Gregg's spot in the rotation, making Kelly part of the 2nd line.
We stay primarily 3-4, but remember, all of Rex's under/over-shifted fronts are still in our playbook. There will be plenty of times we are lined up more in an 4-3 Under than in a 3-4.
Most importantly, our talented front 7 just got younger and more talented.
