From Preston's latest column. Says he's calling Ravens players telling them to talk to Ozzie. Also in the column Donut Boy rips the Ravens for not signing their lower picks(doesn't mention that it's financially impossible) and comments on Jamal possibly to Den.

Yeah, the locker room might be rough, but the reality is that stars stay, good players can get better money from desperate teams with lots of holes to fill.
This is not rocket science (never mind that crap is easy, bloody gene cloning...). AD has a season like this two years ago he's never a FA.
Thus, you see the emphasis on drafting players ready to play...a la Landry. Then you don't develop them for 3 to 5 years then watch them become stars in one year and command massive money and be unable to sign them.

Never ever never. I would be SO pissed if they signed Joey Porter.

We re-signed Bart Scott last year and he was a UDFA. We apparently re-signed Jarrett Johnson and he's not a former 1st rounder. We re-signed AD (the first time around) and he was a former 6th round pick. Preston's argument is flawed. To add, while it is true we re-signed many of our former 1st rounders, that is due to the fact that we pretty much hit HRs with our first picks every year. The spoils of our drafting success.

I do not want Bullet Ass anywhere near Baltimore. Can any of you SERIOUSLY imagine cheering for him if he were playing for the Ravens? Seriously . . . blech :bag:

I really think he would cost too much for what the Ravens have under the cap.
Also I don't think Joey is as good as HE THINKS he is.
Don't think he'll be here.

KFFL is reporting that Porter has been talking to the Browns, Bengals and Dolphins. No mention of Ravens.
Again it appears that Preston is way off-base as usual.

Rotoworld was actually the first to report that Porter is interested in us, not Preston. Just because he's been contacted by those teams doesn't mean he isn't interested in us, just that we might not be interested in him.

I think he would be a good fit, on the field. In the locker room I'm not so sure. I'll hate him until the day he is a Raven. If he becomes a Raven we have no choice but to welcome him, as long as he doesnt bring that filthy, nasty stench of Pittsburgh with him.

Steve, Porter not being as good as he thinks may be our undoing. After he sits in free agency, he may come cheap. I'll need a 55 gallon drum to puke in the day he becomes a Raven. What a "Twilight Zone" episode we would be involved in. Regardless, I'll never cheer for him. I can't wait for the day the Ravens win the Super Bowl and Joey Boy is announced MVP, and I'm waving my big fat middle fingers at him..........Oh, wait, ......That was the "Tales from the Dark Side" episode..................heeeeeeheeeeheehehehehee

If hes a raven you got to root for him but hopefully he wont end up over here (knock on wood). Hey Kordel was a raven and people changed there tune about him, suddenly the gay jokes stopped.

I guess that you attended different tailgate parties than I did. I never saw a drop in the Kordell talk.

Porter won't be here unless his price drops considerably.
So I don't expect to see him here any time soon.
Preston's arguements are often fueled by a hatred of the head coach and simply trying to sell papers as the "controversial" reporter. Anyone who really understands the situation knows that the Ravens had to let some players go and could not match the massive paydays that they have been receiving. I think they were smart to get Johnson at good value to plug in now that Thomas is gone.

The first time he sacked Roethlisberger or Palmer you'd all be singing a different tune, don't give me the "I'll never cheer for him" you'd be jumping out of your seat just like the rest of the 70,000 people in the stadium...

Nope . . . ain't gonna happen. If Bullet Ass somehow ends up on this team I will tolerate him, but I'm not cheering anything he does. :bag: So I guess that makes 69,999 that will be jumping out of their seats :rolling:

Some of you people are ridiculous. I don't like Porter, but if he was a Raven and was making plays for us, I would sure as hell cheer for the guy on the field. Never thought I'd see the day Kordell Stewart was a Raven, but his punting did save our asses in that one Jets game.

Special teams AFC player of the week honors, right? That was priceless.
I'll save my bile at the front office for when they sign the real locker room cancers and troublemakers out there. Randy Moss, PacMan Jones, Albert Haynesworth, 30 of the 52 Bengals, etc. Porter's a loudmouth and a hothead, but if those are the worse of his qualities, I could live with it.

Yup . . . but that's just who I am. And, believe it or not . . . when Kordell did his punting schtick, I politely clapped. I'm a petty, petty girl :D

Kordell and Porter are apples and oranges.
Kordell was never really a prick about anything. He was never really a cheapshot artist. he wasn't a loudmouth. Apples and Oranges my friend.
It wasn't that hard to thing about Kordell starting here, let alone his being a backup at #2 or #3 on the depth chart.
Porter is an ass, a loudmouth cheapshot artist who has said many times how much he hates the Ravens. He recently tried to gouge Jamal's eye out. He helped injure heap out of the '04 campaign which probably stunted Boller's development. he got shot in the ass. And, he's not really that great of a LB.
No way we sign porter after we re-signed JJ, and no way I'd cheer for Porter for making any plays for the Ravens.

Drew F. opined this morning that, given Porter's salary requirements, it's not likely we'd be able to bring him here anyway. He'd been making $5m a year.
Drew suggested he wouldn't take a pay cut. I'm not sure I agree with *that*, it's not like Porter, after a relatively weak '06 season and being unemployed, is in a position to make great demands, but even so, I don't see us putting even $3.5m/year plus some signing bonus toward another linebacker right now.

True stuff right there but when you put on a home team uniform all that goes down the tubes, quick in a hurry.
