I'm not too familiar with the Bleacher Report for reliable reporting, but I saw this story of the best homefield advantages. We are # 3. I especially like the fact that some opposing QB's have said that we are the loudest. Pretty sweet and a kudos to those of us on this board. We're lunatics on game day :ww:

Memorial Stadium wasn't called the world's largest outdoor insane asylum for nothin'...
I'm not shocked by this. M&T is one of the loudest outdoor stadiums I've ever been to. Louder than UM's for Wolverines games.
Not louder than PSU. That just has to do with stadium build. UM cups farther out. PSU is more straight up...holds the sound better and seats 35k+ more than M&T.

I have been to 4 out of the 5 they listed. Never been to Seattle.
I can tell you that I was completely unimpressed with Arrowhead. First of the all the supposedly legendary tailgating was nowhere to be found. And it wasn't nearly as loud as I thought it was going to be. Of course, when McNair hit Clayton on that bomb it pretty much silenced the Chiefs fans.
From my personal experience, M&T is right up there with the loudest stadiums I've been in.
I hate to say it but the loudest NFL stadium I've ever been in BY FAR was RFK. Of course, that has everything to do with the design.

I've been to a few other pro stadiums and yes M&T is probably the loudest (never been to Heinz)... Definitely kudos to all Bmore fans
As far as loudest football crowd and most active during the game (ie. Entrance of Team and the Fanfare/Standing Up All Game/Thunderous Noise when Defense is out/Really Loud Cannon going off when Home Team Score), I gotta go with the my VT Hokies. Sure I'm biased but I've been told by opposing fans that it is insane.

The Bleacher Report is a joke. It's a collection of misfit flunkies who can't get jobs anywhere. The writers are not paid. Anyone here could write for the Bleacher Report and they'd post it.
They may as well call that POS site "Obstructed View." You only go there when there's nothing else to read. If it was a newspaper it would be an insult to steamed crabs that had to sit atop it or the pet cockatoos that had to take a dump on it.

Our stadium is indeed very loud, although I don't know if our stadium is one of the top 5 loudest due to stadium design. Domes and stadiums with cantilevered partial roofs have acoustics advantages, and our notches create disadvantages. Since my ear drums vibrate when the noise level gets excessive, I have a built in sound detector and can accurately compare the stadium noise levels. My ear drums vibrate for games against Pitt, Colts, Redskins, a few others. They did not vibrate in Seattle. The vibration got so bad in the Superdome and Metrodome that I had to cover my ears.
Beyond just crowd noise: intimidation. Our crowd is genuinely scary. Just from looking crowd shots, many other NFL crowds resemble baseball crowds or college crowds. e.g. Patriots crowds appear meek. All those friendly Canadians in Buffalo are also somewhat passive. Ever been to a Redskins game? It's so bad that they sometimes do the wave. Our crowd is very active ... aggressive.

I am not the national traveller that others may be, but in my limited experience our fans are more intense than most. San Diego was ho-hum, Cincy was not much to talk about and Minny and Indy (RCA) were orchestrated (but loud). Our fans were louder than the Jags' in Jacksonville until they were thumping us 30-3. The Pack fans were good until there lips froze together.
As for the home games, it is exciting to join in the mayhem, but I just wish we had more coordination. More people screaming when the other team is still in the huddle to start the thunder would help, and would somebody tell people to SHUT UP when our offense is at work. What are they thinking?
Regardless, I enjoy the atmosphere with people that I do not even know about a team that we embrace. Good job, Ravens fans.

I figured that much when I noticed that most of the reporting appeared to be taken from other more more established news services (ESPN, Foxsports, etc). Only a few stories appeared to be from their own writers.

Qwest Stadium in Seattle is indeed the loudest, IMO. And I would put M&T in a close second with both louder than any dome I have had the pleasure attending.

I kinda thought LP field for the 2008-09 Playoff game was as loud as M&T.
Not putting down M&T just saying LP field was impressive for the size of the crowd and open ended stadium...

What he said. I've never seen anything like Lane Stadium on a Thursday night. Not the biggest stadium, but definitely the most intense experience I've ever been to.

I was at that game, and I thought LP was very weak. We asked which community college played there when we walked in. Heinz was pretty loud, but still not as loud as I've heard M&T.

I was in one of the end zones and the people there were rather subdued throughout the game. I even asked several people around us if they really cared, and they responded saying that this was just something for them to do for cheap.
I imagine it was different at other places in the stadium, as the upper decks looked pretty intense from down below. But for that many Ravens hands to get their hands on tickets, it doesn't speak well for Titans fans and that stadium.

I was in the upper deck in line with the back of the end zone on the Ravens side of the field . That section was AWESOME 10 to 1 Ravens to Titans fans.
I will say though there were some dudes behind us that said the same as those people said to you, they left in the 3rd for a hockey game.
Maybe that's why I thought the game was loud cause the amount of RAvens fans making noise!!!:rocking:

I was at the Titans playoff game as well.
In the upper deck on Titans side close to the endzone opposite Stover's kick.
Subdued is a great way to describe the Titans fans.

:iagree:
How did so many Ravens fans get into that Stadium? That was one of the largest playoff road crowds we've had. And particularly loud! I sat with Cole's ravenstrips.com group -- perhaps the great number of Ravens there distorted things, but it sounded like it could have been a home game from the noise.

When we walked to the stadium we must have encountered 2 dozen guys with handfuls of tickets trying to unload them for 20 a pop.
I was kicking myself knowing I had paid 90 a piece.
Hell, I thought i was getting a good deal at the time.
Talk about a soft market.

I didn't go to the 2009 playoff game in Tenn, but did go to the 2006 game in Nashville and all of the Tenn fans were shocked at how many Ravens fans were there.
For a small fan base, our fans do travel very well - and we do actually travel .

Unlike Steelers fans at our stadium and around the country, who are primarily hillbilly emigrants or local bandwagon fans.
We have sent large road crowds - in the thousands - to Miami, Jax, Nashville, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Foxboroough, Landover -- even far-flung Minneapolis, San Diego, and Phoenix.
Ravens fans on road trips have been rumored to sample the local bars  while on travel, aiding the local economy.

Don't forget Green Bay. The Sunday before our Monday night game there Ravens fans packed the Stadium View bar (right across the street from Lambeau). It was like being at Della Rose's on a game day. Overheard a few Packer fans expressing how they were impressed with our showing.

On every road trip I've been on I've had no less than a half dozen fans of the home team comment to me how they can't believe how many Ravens fans are at the game.
The GB game is a great example. Not only is GB not the easiest place to get to but it was a MNF game in December to boot.
Yet there was purple walking around and it was noticeable.
Pretty sure I'll be going back there in 7 years. It's 7 right?

I'd love to see a better showing in Houston this year.
We had a good amount a fans here for that one, but it was not overwhelming.
This year, it's a prime time game and I'd love to see a sea of purple at Reliant Stadium!

I plan to be there again. IMHO, Reliant is among the top stadiums in the NFL - certainly the best that I have been to (but I haven't done the new stadiums in Dallas or Phoenix yet). Every new stadium architect should study Reliant's sightlines and the open concourses, allowing fans in the concession arae to watch the game. Last game, we snagged club seats 1st row 40 yard-line for $25 -- I would love to find that deal again!
Betcha the MNF schedule will impede many from making the trip.

I'd take that bet T. The Green Bay game last year was a Monday night in December and we had thousands of fans out there. My flight to Milwaukee was filled with people going to the game. MNF games are great for travel because you get the extra day (Sunday) to sight-see and mingle with other fans, plus you can spend all day Monday tailgating.

Agreed about Monday night -- and that's too bad. Houston weather in December is great. If we can get enough people to show, I have an in with the manager of Champps in the Galleria -- she is willing to let us pre-game in their private room or, if enough people fly in Sunday, let us use their private room for the Sunday games as well.
I got pretty decent mezzanine seats and my g/f is looking at getting her firms club seats for the game.

I think that part of how we travel well is related to the fact that BWI is a hub for Southwest airlines. Because of how cheap it is to fly to some of these cities, it's almost a no-brainer.

You gotta remember the Lambeau factor though.
We had 12 in our group and I knew a bunch of other people going.
Most of them would have never done it except it was GB and the next time we play up there is way down the line. I wasn't gonna miss it for anything.
I had Houston as a possibility this year but it was nixed once the schedule came out.
I'll be in Charlotte and Pittsburgh.
I was 0 for 4 last year on road trips. That needs to change.

While it's great to have SW and I prefer to fly with them when I can, their prices aren't what they once were.
Of course, they don't charge for bags which is a big deal if you check bags.
One rule for football road trips. There will be no checking of bags under any circumstance.

Hell, I'm just happy that Southwest is now flying direct from here so I can get to more HOME games at M&T. That way I don't have to burn so much vacation time. I can leave here after work on Friday, and fly back Monday morning and be at work by like 10am.
As for the loudest stadiums, I agree with the others about Lane Stadium in Blacksburg. I have been there 3-4 times for games and the place is absolutely deafening.
