Any of those guys would provide pretty solid depth...

That was my first thought, mostly because I know all of their names. I'm not so sure any of them would provide much of an upgrade over Frank Walker, especially considering the necessary adjustment time needed in our system.

They are names everybody knows, but I haven't watched any of them enough to say that they could provide us with much help. I would caution others in a similar situation to act as such.

Out of this group, I guess I like Lucas the best.

Harris is just way too old and we'd just be adding yet another CB who is coming off of an ACL tear.

Hamlin is a big safety who's coverage and ball skills makes Dwan Landry look like Ed Reed. And I still have that picture of the McClain stiff arm on that 80 something yard run against the Cowgirls 2 years ago.

Lucas is up there in age too...and injury prone but as a 4th or 5th guy...if he makes the team...isn't too bad.

This was also my first thought. Supposedly every time that he walks past McClain when he's at Ravens HQ he needs to flop to the ground with his arms flailing helplessly.

Walt Harris was very good starter for a few years prior to getting hurt last season, depending on how bounces back i think he could be a more then adequate nickel guy.

They need to get O.J. Atogwe if they are interested in any of those guys. He can play anything from Cb to SS.

I've seen Lucas and Hamlin a good bit and a little of Harris. My one sentence assessment of them is this:
They're as effective as Frank Walker except they won't get called for DPI twice per game.

If they are looking at those guys, I'm surprised they aren't looking at Shawn Springs. Unlike those guys, Springs actually started games and played significant minutes (though unevenly, apparently) last year.

I'd take him over those guys because he could actually start if need be. That said, because of that, he may be waiting until TC to see if someone wants to give him a better opportunity than possibly being the 4th/5th CB here. He'd also probably cost more than the vet minimum, which is probably all Ozzie is willing to spend at this point.

I do not think it is a question of how much Oz is willing to spend on a CB as much as it is he does not see it as nearly as much of a question mark as most do.

I agree with your one-sentence assessment. Lucas and Harris have seen better days and I don't think Hamlin is particularly effective. So they might get beaten on some pass plays ...which is still an upgrade over Walker who gets beaten but still manages to draw a flag.

Ravens just signed Hamlin per WNST.

I just saw that we offered Harris a one-year deal and he turned it down. The last thing we need is another CB coming off a major knee surgery.

I guess we offered him the veteran minimum and he turned it down.

Really? Interesting. If true I can't say that I'm sorry, in large part because of the knee issue as you say. Sounds like a case that Harris thinks he's worth more than the Ravens do. He had some good years, but at this point in his career I doubt he'd give us any more than Travis Fisher.
