Now that you say something, the signing of Hamlin may in fact be a play at Landry's spot on the field. I never really considered that at all. Interesting...

I'm excited to see Kindle vs JJ and Kindle
will start over JJ at some point but Matt can use them both in a 3-4 moving
JJ to ILB with Kindle blitzing in from the key.
Not sure how he will do vs Oher or Gaither because he didn't show too
much in his last bowl game. He should be very explosive and fast vs the
rest of the league.
I'm also anxious to see the kicking battle and Shayne should win it. His worst avg of 82%
is better than Billy's best of 79%. As for those misses, Cinci had a snapping issue too,
one vs us in the first game and Shayne made the kick on a bad snap.
There was a rash of misses in the POs with SD's kicker missing 3 FGs vs Jets. He made the mos t
for the regular season with 32 FGs and was the AFCs kicker in the pro bowl. Rexy Boy was damn
lucky to first get into the POs with a gift horse from Indy at the end of the regular season and then
5 missed FGs from 2 of the best kickers in the game. Sh*t happens.

The kicking job is Shayne's to lose and we're lucky to have him.

You're assuming that the battle will be between Ellerbe and Gooden for ILB. Jason Phillips could upset that apple cart. I'm hearing he is healthy and looking good.

I'm hoping Oneil Cousins (or someone else) can push JGaither at RT. methinks he could use a little push?

Looking forward to see how many receivers we'll keep and who'll make the cut. I think David Reed will probably make the team. So who gets cut/practice squad?

The most interesting thing that I'm looking forward to in training camp will be Gaither's attitude. Next, will be the numbers game - how many players by position make the team. The number of backs. Also, the mix of WRs and TEs. 5+2? 5+3? 4+2? If Carr continues as receiver, do we need Reed? Is it a given that we will need 3 TEs? Will we see a bona fide FB somewhere in the mix?

I'm looking for the battle in the trenches. The D line rotation and oher at LT. Gathier is compelling, but i think he will get focus. Am i the only one who thinks JJ plays better with his hand in the dirt. Would love to see him on the ends. Training camp should be great this year. Hopefully we get it together in camp, so many battles. Jets is first to test the flacco upgrades. Can shallworth beat out mark c.? I think all three TE(heap and 2 draft picks) will come in handle this year for sure. Will we keep all three? And of course my worry is WEBB!!

I agree with JJ playing better at end but people are underestimating what a good player he is. Let's see a little creativity especially on third down. Let's get JJ, Kindle and Suggs on the field at the same time

And maybe a little Antwan Barnes too, on long passing downs.

That will still be the key, forcing a lot of long passing downs by discouraging the run early and often and putting up early TDs on O and turning the pack loose all day long like Indy and the Saints have been able to even without having a very good run D.
I really like Barnes as a Qb seeking specialist. Jameel McClain really looked like a natural QB hunter off the edge but has been moved inside. It really is set up to get ugly if the O gets going and the depth at DL and LB is let loose knowing it is pretty much all pass.
My only concern is the LB and S coverage of the fast tweener TE/ SE slot guys and the RB coverage has been busted a few times. Gooden, Ellerbe and Ayanbedejo as well as Hamlin could be in the mix of that solution.

Ellerbe did very well guarding the pass to the RB sneaking out of pass protection to slip into the flat. He just busted that play up big time last year. I saw him do at least 5 times. Not sure how well he plays the RB pass that's about 5-10 yards past the line of scrimmage
Ayanbedejo was doing a great job in pass coverage before he got hurt. He'll help us when he gets over that muscle tear completely.
I'm a bit more worried that Ed Reed's absence is going to hurt us. I know Zibby played well for us as FS and I'm hoping that will continue.

The more I read this string the more amped I get about how loaded the Ravens really are.

I gotta say the WR battle.. David Reed will make the team because of his special team abilities...

+1 I'm looking forward to seeing Ravens on a field! We can't lose as far as ANY of the position battles go, it looks like we have substantial depth all over the place. I LOVE our D line and our LB situations. QB is solidified with the signing of Bulger. TE got depth back, as did DB. RB has been a strength of ours and WR is stronger than ever. O line is the only minor question, with Gaither having to move to RT; I believe he can do it AND be dominant, IF he gets his head on straight. Can't wait til camp opens, I pray for no injuries.
