There is some strange stuff going on with the Raiders. Never mind that they got punked by a division rival at home on opening day 27-0, how's this for jaw-dropping behavior? :embarassed:
And you think we had problems with Grbac. Looks like a very long year for Oakland. You've gotta wonder what their mindset is going to be coming into our game.

When Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss said of his team, "things are crazy around here," he wasn't kidding.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported on its Web site that disgruntled receiver Jerry Porter who was inactive for the 27-0 drugging the Raiders absorbed from the San Diego Chargers on Monday night, was seen laughing and pumping his fist on the sidelines when Raiders teammate Aaron Brooks was sacked for the seventh time.

That's pretty sad, kind of like Ravens fans cheering when Boller went down.

Yep...sure looks like it. I feel bad for Lamont Jordan the ex-terp having to play on the squad. It double sucks because I have Moss on my fantasy team...thank god I won without him this week.

the team is falling apart...Moss doesn't like the team anymore and is dangerously close to becoming a T.O., Porter is pissed about being benched, they can't find a decent TE. They're just becoming laughable.

Why feel bad for Jordan??? The Jets were no better, so it was a latter move in some ways

they are a rather sad team. i hope our team can keep it together and slap them around next week. it would be nice to see our guys win a game they should in convincing fashion. if this is to be our year, they have to lay the smack down in games like this.

We'll know early on in the 1st quarter how both teams respond to their opening game, but I expect nothing less than a fully focused Ravens team bent on the destruction of a weak sister.
I can't see Porter starting after that display. That can only be good for us, one less WR to stretch the field. We can put CMac and Reed on Moss all game.

They should take a page out of the Pats book and wise up and just trade Porter,wh cares about the cap hit just cut your losses. What is the point of paying a guy 5 mill to sit on the bench and cause problems like he is.

This is a team that we should handle easily. They shouldn't score more than 10 points on us. But I can't get out of my mind the Rick Mirer debacle in Oakland a couple of years ago. That was probably the last time I was this confident going into a game and we know how that turned out. I like everything that our guys are saying, and Oakland does seem about 2 more losses away from imploding, but I need to see that intensity from us. We have 2 things going for us in that regard.
1. Home Opener- we rarely play flat at home and since its our first game I anticiapte 100% committment by our guys.
2. Cleveland- we play our divisions' cup cake week 3. They have been known to give us fits, but its not like we are looking ahead to the Pittsburgh rivalry.

I agree totally. Here we have the Raiders with a short week....they have to come across the country....we need to take advantage of those things as well as the team in disarray as it appears....

my roomate is a huge raiders fan. he went ballistic last night when they got shut out, and i can't wait till the ravens hit 'em in the mouth come sunday. with porter on the verge of being traded, and the entire team looking like garbage, i say this is a perfect time to put a hurtin on this team.

If this report is true, that he was fist-pumping and cheering when Brooks was getting sacked for the seventh time, what team would trade for him? Who would actually give up anything for an asshole like that? If the Raiders cut him, some team will probably pick him up, but only because it won't cost them anything, but he just killed his trade value with this display (assuming it really happened).
As far as the Raiders go, they are a disaster, even worse than I thought they would be. It might be a long time before Al Davis makes another rare appearance in broad daylight.

Give it until about 7:30PM Sunday before thinking about feeling sorry for him.

It seems pretty obvious that Al Davis has way too much control over how things are run over there. It wasnt surprising in the least that a couple coaching candidates, I believe, turned down the head coaching job.

I agree.
I think its Al Davis that is preventing Porter from being cut, and its because of the money.
At this point I think the Raiders need to figure a way to move on from Porter, maybe even Moss.
I also think Shell has to decide if he wants to coach beyond this year. If he does, he has to take more control, even if it means getting rid of stars who are malcontent.
You also have to recognize just how bad Gallery and the rest of the Raiders o-line got beaten last week. I dont think that has to do anything with Shell and preparation. i think that Gallery is on his way to being a big time bust, ala Charles Rogers. He hasn't shown anything in his career thus far that suggests he should have comanded a top 5 draft pick.

al davis made the nfl what it is today, he gave minorities oppurtunities in the league before you even had to "interview" them.
he forced the nfl to merge.
Why does everyone make him out to be such a horrible guy.
No one ever talks about this guys positive accomplishments.

That Chargers front seven is drop dead nasty.
I love Al Davis calling in those deep pass pattern plays, when the O'line couldn't block longer than 0.5 seconds.
It didn't take Sapp long to start shaking his head on the sidelines either.
Week 1 and already a RAHDAH meltdown. The Ravens should feel that Oakland are an opponent from NFL Europe after spitting out the Buc's.
The Ravens got to step on the silver & black early, and keep twisting their foot, till the RAHDAH's are pulp in the 4th Q.Lets hope Porter is cheering more of his teams misfortune on Sunday.

I think it would be kinda cool for one of the Ravens to run over to the Raiders' bench after a good play and hug/high five Porter. Of course, you'd have to call Porter before the game and make sure he's cool w/ it.
Dude's seriously disaffected. Exploit him.

That would be funny, but it might be tough to pull off without the ref thinking it's taunting/unsportsmanlike conduct.

It is obviously too early to read anything into league rankings after only one game, but I can't help but notice that the Raiders are last in run offense and the Ravens are first in run defense. That's what you call a favorable matchup for us. Oakland can't run. And when you consider that they also can't pass block, if the first game is anything to go on, how do they move the ball on us?
It's been ages since I've felt so confident about a game. Seriously, barring turnovers and special teams screwups (which clearly can't be ruled out), they will have trouble scoring in this game. If we take a ten point lead, I'll think the game is over. I shouldn't think that, but I will.

Trick plays and/or blown coverage. Moss is still very much a threat.

Our emotions have been snakebit by previous give me games vs Oakland and Detroit. Both became withering attacks on our fan confidence.
But I really think this teams attitude is different this year. The lights are on,
the way the Ravens didn't letup in Tampa is a great sign.
