Well here it is folks :

I know some will like it, some will hate it. I thought the original Ravens song was bad...never caught on...so I like this better. It ties the past with the present and future of Baltimore football.

I'm playing it right now and I am loving it. I think folks that make it to the games will like it and the TV folks will hate it. It is definately a drinking song during and after a win. Has a classic football tune. Good pick Ravens
Now football in Baltimore feels complete again. Rather historic to pass down to the kids. I'm just imagining screaming this at the top of my lungs.

Meh. I'm not feeling it. It is disjointed...it doesn't flow.

I love this song!!!!!
And I think it will do far more than we think in terms of keeping the football history of Baltimore alive. Now, commentators and fans alike have to talk about the origins of the song and that, in turn, will force the discussion of the Colts.
Who knows? Just as the band played a major role in us getting a team again, so to could this song be the catalyst for the return of the records?

:229031_confused2: Don't understand why ... sure, the stadium will erupt, but the couch potatoes should get a lot out of it as well.
I used to love hearing it on TV when I was a kid ... why would it be any different today? I recall a bunch of us drunkenly belting it out in a dorm at College Park after watching a Colts win on a dramatic Unitas to Berry or Orr last second TD ... on jury-rigged rabbit ears. We were chastised for the noise by a graduate resident assistant Redskins fan who was almost pummeled when he tried to interrupt us at "fight! fight! fight!".

The lyrics could be simpler, but the music gives me goose bumps!

I'm sorry T, but that was before my time and you may very well be right on that. I was pointing that some who don't go to the games (not b/c for lack of $$ = fairweather) may not appreciate it. Maybe a bad choice of words on TC folks. It reminds me of a college fight song which shows my youth and Baltimore Colt's fight song ignorance.

As Baltimore football fans (I'm 42) this belongs to us. Happy to have it back. The younger people that hate the band and want hip hop or nu-metal won't like it, but don't some of us older and young older fans deserve this?

I was just finished typing my post and yours makes sense and what I was saying about the younger crowd. Completely understandable.
Keep in mind teams like the Packers hold onto their traditions that weren't ripped away.
This song is a small piece that some of us can now keep. :)

The only people so far to reject this version are younger fans who want us to give up any ties to previous Baltimore football teams and a few people who don't like the new lyrics.
Still haven't got the words memorized, but I'm halfway there.

Man this song is awesome. I have played it like 20 times to try to memorize the lyrics. Trust me this is a generation bridger, especially after a few

Per the Raven's website, these are the lyrics to the fight song...
""Baltimore Ravens Let’s go
And put that ball across the line
So fly on with talons spread wide
Go in and strike with Ravens pride
FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT
Ravens dark wings take to flight
Dive in and show them your might
For Baltimore and Maryland
You will fly on to victory"

I always liked the old Colts fight song, at least it doesn't start with "Oh Christmas Tree". This is a good move and may even make the band a bit more tolerable.

:iagree:
True confession: I have drunkenly sung the Colts Fight Song literally hundreds of times at games or at game-watching parties .... the only lines which I knew were "Fight-Fight-Fight" and "For Baltimore and Maryland - You will march on to victory". Everything else: I just hummed or mumbled. So learning the new song will be a snap for me: just substitute "fly" for "march" and continue to hum or mumble all the other lines.

I like the tune but hate the words. wish they would have came up with a few versions of the song for people to vote on not just the 2. I think a lot of people voted for this song just because of the beat and not the words

Loved the scene in the movie "Diner" at the wedding when a slow version of the song was being played by the organist as guests were being seated.
Q:"That song sounds familar. What is it?"
A: "The Colts Fight Song. Very tasteful."
We are lucky to have a traditonal fight song that actual has a good melody and beat. As many times as I've heard it, I'm not sick of it. That's more than I can say for a lotta music both new and old. If you're young and have never heard it, give it a few years. I bet it will stick with you.

I have the utmost respect for John Zieman, the co-composer of the lyrics to the new song. His efforts in keeping the Colts Band alive during the "dark ages" are legendary.
I am just not feeling the love for the new song. I'm one of the old farts who rooted for the Colts as a kid and had a season ticket the last year they were here. I was able to run around Western Maryland College and collect autographs from Hall of Famers like Unitas,Berry and Moore.
My closure with the Colts happened at Memorial Stadium when the Ravens honored all of the old Colts and the band played the Colts fight song. From that moment on,I looked forward to creating new memories with the Ravens. I think it's important that the Ravens continue to create their own identity. Rehashing the old song just doesn't do it for me.
Where does the line get drawn? Perhaps one of the 3 Raven mascots can ride around the sidelines on a white horse after each Raven touchdown. Perhaps the 21st century version of the Big Wheel can go from section to section spelling out R-A-V-E-N-S.
Today,I enjoy living in the moment with the Ravens,be it in my seat at the stadium,or at home on TV. Yes,I still have fond memories of the Colts. I just think it's time to let the Ravens be the Ravens.

Losac...you have had some posts on here of late that are just spot on and this one here is maybe the best yet.
I was at the gym today grinding away on the eliptical when the text came through with the new song able to be downloaded. "DL"ed it right away and took the headphone plug out of the ipod and inserted it into the Droid and almost yelled out Fight! Fight! Fight! in the middle of a dozen unsuspecting gym rats. I got Chris Matthew's type chills.
One thing lacking from the Ravens stadium experience is the recognizable moment when all fans chime in together. Something other than "...and don't be a jerk" which actually annoys me for some reason. Anyway, Fight Fight Fight is exactly what we need. Who cares about the other words. Give me a tune that sticks in my head and something to make stand up and yell with 60k other people. That's what it is all about.
As a Bert Jones era Colts fan, we had the Fight Fight Fight and the "C-O-L-T-S COLTS" courtesy of the Big Wheel. My memories of those moments are thunderous chants echoing through the stadium. M&T gets loud but not in the way Memorial did around common chants.
I am looking forward to the first home game to see how many people around me will know that first moment of Fight Fight Fight. Yeah its meaningless and probably corney/cheesy but its being a fan.
This is a great bridge from the fan experience of the Colts era and the Ravens era. A bridge that has been in Baltimore and not Indy since the Colts left that for some reason was left to rot away. In the era of retro appreciation, this is a good thing.

:iagree: Hopefully, we don't wind up with many who refuse to participate because they disdain the Colts, or are old Colt fans who want the cord cut! Imagine how loud it could get in our new stadium, with no open end to lose the noise, coupled with the old/new fight song.
And where are The Big Wheel and The Spoke? You can spell our R-A-V-E-N-S with your body!
They aren't Colt traditions and the song isn't a Colt song, they are Baltimore traditions.

I don't like it, it sounds like a desperate attempt to have a song. The beginning is cheesy as anything I've ever heard. Maybe it's the musician in me but it's like taking Stairway to Heaven and adding new lyrics. Not only do you have a crappy new song but it's now linked with a song that was once great and stood on its own for what it is, but from this point on whenever you hear the old version it's tainted with the new.
Just curious; how did the Colts Fight song originally come about, was it voted on by the fans or did they just start playing it and it slowly caught on? It seems to me like this kind of thing starts small and gradually grows like a nick name for the O-line like the Hogs or The Purple People Eaters for a defense. It seems like an unnatural way of doing things…

This is exactly what will and is happening. I for one do not like the song and not one of the probably 50+ people I talked to about the song at the game tonight like it either. They really tried to force the song down the fans throat playing it over and over probably atleast 10 times before and during the game and I didnt see anyone trying to sing along. everyone was just complaing. this is one thing I definatly think the Ravens got wrong.
while on the topic of in game entertainment the new "will you protect this house" is horrible. They should go back to the original "Will you protect this house?" "I WILL I WILL" the new one the crowd can't get into it. also the new "move those chains" isnt very good either. Just because we have the new boards we dont have to change everything if it aint broke dont fix it.

Somehwhat disagree. Last night, many were mumbling the words except "Fight, fight, fight" and "Fly onto victory". (Pretty much as we used to do for the Colts song). It will take time for the fans to get used to it, and, in any event it was at an exhibition game where the crowd interest in the game was minimal and intensity was almost nil.
The "new" lyrics are tongue-twisters: "So fly on with talons spread wide, Go in and strike with Ravens pride" -- try even just mouthing that, sober, and youd likely mess it up. What the Ravens got wrong was giving us the choice between two fully composed songs. They should have had a vote of the tune, followed by a lyrics contest. Also, the tempo is way too fast for something new.

Video board graphics have gone downhill pretty much every year in the past decade. There used to be graphics which the crowd got into: the flock of birds zooming in to the field, the football bouncing all over Maryland. Gone? Why? Frankly, I'd rather have the supposedly inferior SACO vision with the superior content to the new HDTV with the nothingness of what's been shown thus dar this Summer; however, perhaps like the "new" marching song, just give them some time to get used to.
Also, talking about the crowd getting into it: the pregame music is at an all-time low. That is, unless you are into rap.

The pregame music has always been mostly hiphop music and I think they do that more for the players then for the fans because there are not many fans in the stadium for pregame. most of the players are from the hiphop generation and prefer rap to get them pumped up for the game. During the game i think the music was very good last night. They had a good mix of older rock, newer rock, country and hiphop a little for everyone. in previous years it would be mostly late 80's and 90's rock music through out the game with little if anything else played.

no one sang or liked the old song either. i don't care to learn the words to the new one but will will pump the fist for Fight Fight Fight. The one time I heard it playing while watching t.v. it sounded nice to hear the tune.

Not quite right. There had always been some hip-hop stuff, but I don't ever recall it being 100% of the pregame warm-up music before (pregame warm-up = prior to Phil Collins "In the Air"). It also seemed a lot louder than previous years (or maybe because the air was so heavy last night?) There used to be a decent mixture of other music. I've been going into the stadium an hour to 1:30 early for years now; this was definitely the worst it's been.

While i like the new song, and the look on my dads face when they played it actually made me tear up, I miss the old one and it felt strange.
They should have just broke it out on opening day, it didn't work with the sparse crowd when they first played it.
And the "Move Those Chains" graphics was fine, but only play it once, not twice. It was continually being played LOUDLY while the offense was huddled up or at the line trying to run the no huddle.

The new "Move Those Chains" soundbite sucks - they seem to have added an annoying fast drum track to it whereas the previous one was simple, tribal and effective. Like someone above said, I don't know why they have to mess with something that isn't broken. Same with the Under Armor thing. Which is down to UA marketing, obviously.
Thought the new fight song went down like a fart in an elevator. I was really pleased with news of adopting the Colts song and was looking forward to hearing it, but it felt contrived and forced and a pre-season game was the wrong time to roll it out. I think the key will be to use it sparingly, just after touchdowns.
