Guys and gals. Please take a look at what we have been working on during the slow period. If you like it, please spread the word.

http://www.coltsheritage.com

To the NFL Hall of Fame:

In many ways the Baltimore Colts are the equivalent of NFL orphans. They have no home, at least not one recognized by the NFL and that is a sad statement considering the Baltimore Colts’ historical relevance. The players who left parts of their broken bodies on 33rd Street at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore are aging and unfortunately some have passed, like Hall of Famers John Unitas and Jim Parker. Others are ailing.

The time has come to distinguish these men in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as Baltimore Colts. Restoring the Baltimore Colts’ tradition is a simple yet grossly overdue change that will enable future generations of NFL fans to properly recognize the contributions of these men. This is the choice of the players -- to be recognized in the Hall of Fame as Baltimore Colts. And let's face it, they've earned it.

Baltimore deserves its own heritage just as much as the city of Indianapolis deserves theirs. It is time to help both cities firmly establish their own place and identities in the NFL's illustrious history and in Pro Football's ultimate shrine -- the Hall of Fame.

It's the right thing to do for the players and for all fans of the National Football League.

We also have a forum opening up for you to share your old Colts' memories. It should appear in the next hour or so on this site.

Please head on over to www.coltsheritage.com (http://www.coltsheritage.com) and consider signing the petition.

Thanks y'all!

Great idea. I urge everyone to not only sign, but pass the link along.
Get the History & HOF stuff sorted out, and it can finally be "over" for good.

Today we will launch a new website called ColtsHeritage.com. (http://www.coltsheritage.com) Our purpose is to petition the Pro Football Hall of Fame to properly recognize the careers of the Baltimore Colts. The site also features a photo history and a message board for fans to share their thoughts and memories of the Baltimore Colts’ rich heritage.

Let's be clear... Charm City is Ravenstown. Baltimore no longer dons the blue and white. It now bleeds purple. The city has its own home team just as the Colts have a home in Indianapolis. Yet the players who left parts of their broken bodies on 33rd Street at Memorial Stadium no longer have a home. They are aging and unfortunately some have passed.

Together by signing the online petition on ColtsHeritage.com (http://www.coltsheritage.com) we can make a difference and help give our city long overdue consideration in the NFL's ultimate shrine.

Like the idea...and thats all i care about, if i take my son to the HOF to see the BALTIMORE Colts shown in their own BALTIMORE room..not shared with INDY.

Do you know if the Titans are considered seperate from the Oilers per the NFL and HOF?? Or any other teams this would pertain to besides the colts?

RF96,

I don't believe they are separated. Earl Campbell is in there with the Titans but I would argue that none of those other teams had as much to do with making the NFL what it is today than the John Unitas lead Colts. If all those distinctions are going to be made, this is the one to start with...

FYI, I went on a Colts message board tied to the Indy Star attempting to appeal to reasonability. Looks like I ran into into the lion's den screaming like a banshee without the spear. Check out this thread:

Interesting. . .

I followed the link and poked around their website and found this (http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/teams.html):
Indianapolis Colts (10/2)
(Baltimore Colts - 1953-1983)

So at least in one place on their website, the name Baltimore Colts appears in association with the players who were here during those years.

Tony I looked around but couldn't find what 'thread' you were referring to. Are you sure that's the right link?

I don't blame the Indy fans for the way they feel, there were a lot of Ravens trolls on their boards. I'm sure they are sick of the whole thing and not interested in hearing reason at this point.

That said, it appears that the HOF has been paying some attention after all:

Just heard that Rob Roblin will be doing another feature tonight and that the Baltimore City Council will propose a reslolution on Monday in support of "Restoring Baltimore's Football Heritage".

Let me first apologize for this exact reply appearing on a few threads. I just feel in my heart that this is important and regardless of how we get there, we will all feel better knowing that the Baltimore Colts are properly presented if we are successful. And I stress WE because without all of you, I'm no more than a blabbering idiot to some who just can't get over it!

That's not what this is about. Let's convince the HOF to do the right thing for our city and the players whose legacies are now tarnished.

With that in mind, we are beginning to get some national play. I was interviewed by USA Today and they have a blog on the topic of ColtsHeritage.com. If you've already signed the petition, great. If not please do. Even if you have, go on to this blog and post your thoughts so that that can drift in cyberspace throughout the country. We can use the support of folks outside of Maryland.

THANK YOU!

Solidarity in numbers folks! Today the City Council passed a resolution which was sponsored by City Council VP Robert Curran and unanimously approved. I think if we keep this going it will be hard for the HOF to say no. I learned as you all did that the HOF is considering changes to the Hall. Don't take for granted that those changes are sufficient. My guess is they won't be.

Let's do this for Johnny, Lenny, Raymond, Gino, Artie, Weeb, Jim and John....we all deserve this especially these players and all retired BALTIMORE Colts...

I commented on the USA Today blog that you linked above. Fans from other cities are starting to sign the petition. I feel strongly that is the only way we're gonna get the truth out! EVERYBODY needs to do what they can to spread the word around the country. Any true fan with common sense will sign the petition IF they hear about it. The reason for this is quite simple. The petition tells the truth and attempts to correct a lie. It's a true no-brainer for any football fan.

Tony dude - GREAT JOB!
