I knew he could stretch the field. Fitz was the guy in AZ and allit took was giving him a new team.

I was skeptical of the effect Boldin would have on this offense, but holy shit balls. He is what we didn't have against the Colts and Steelers on 3rd down last year.

Especially glad I chose to buy the real authentic Ngata jersey now, even if he does leave next year. Hopefully we lock him up.

110 yards. Yeah, I'll take that any day.

And how about Heap with 72 yards of his own?

Honestly, although he didn't have many "real" yards I loved the impact that Housh had tonight!

Housh and Mason weren't small potatoes either...no stats, but Housh drew a couple penalties, and Mason kept Revis occupied for us to pick on the weaker CBs.

Anyone still dying that we didn't take Kyle Wilson?

+1. Mason did have a catch or two of his own that were important.

Housh also had an important catch to move the chains.

Going to be interested to see Filmstudy break down the running game and see what the problem was...Jets were without Jenkins, that should've opened things up, but it seemed like they still ate our line alive.

Oher at LT is where I'm most concerned...and Yanda/Chester

Housh had a HUGE third down and long catch for a conversion where he went over the defender (Cro, IIRC) to get it.

Well Chester/Yanda is no Yanda/Gaither. Yanda is much more of a mauler at RG. Left sided runs weren't as successful, though moreso than the others.

From my non-Filmstudy eye, Oher played a pretty good game. Not a lot of pressure from his side.

Oh, and these "possession" WRs may not be burners, but we see they can clearly get open and make tough catches against single coverage, and occasionally being doubled. You don't need a burner if you can get open, period.

I have said this before and I will say this again. No team needs all world CB's to win a SB.

On topic on Boldin and a stiffy, just call me "Woody" Allen.

Mason and Housh are going to destroy teams. All this and we didn't use Dickson, rely on Rice in the passing game, and we still threw downfield without Stallworth.

Speaking of Stallworth, is he out for the year like Mort said. I didn't hear that.

Hell of a play and one nice play by Flacco to hang in there and get the ball to him.

No. Mort is dumb and Shef corrected him.

The Jets lined up to stop the run tonight and bring pressure. They left their DBs in man coverage and it burned them repetedly but we weren't going to run on that game plan.

I'm a lot less concerned about the running game than I am... uhmmm... actually I'll take a 10-9 victory over the number one defense in the league last year. Heap doesn't drop that TD pass and we win it in a laugher.

Thinking about the game some more, all three of our WR's have a #1 mentality and so much fire. When was the last time Clayton got up after a big catch screaming like Housh did. Our O has attitude now to match the D and I love it.

You know what not streaking downfield does? As long as you can continue to convert and get 1st downs without turning the ball over, it keeps your defense on the bench for almost 40 minutes of a 60 minute game. And while we won't have TOP for 38+ minutes every game, our defense was more than rested in the 4th quarter and gave up nothing.

You have to throw downfield to keep the defense honest. But all it takes is for a slip or a double move against a green CB for Bolden and Housh to get downfield.

Those will come.

Heap made a big catch in the final drive late in the game going vs the
safety. That's the mis-match we've been talking about all summer.

The new weapons plus Mason opened it up for Heap. He just missed a TD catch
in first half. Announcer said he dropped the ball but it looked like D-guy got his
hand in the way. I'll look at the tape.

That play runs the clock down with the Jets backs vs the wall. After that they were
put in the hole, went deeper in the hole with a penalty and that was the game.

They started using their time outs.

Then Ray hit that guy separating him from the ball and he didn't know where he was
when he caught the ball on
the next play and ran out of bounds a yard short of a first to end the game.

Stan White said his head was still spinning and he didn't know where the marker was.

Chalk another up to Ray.

Ray Rice and his I know I am small but won't back down attitude do it for me. I root pretty hard for him.

Anyone see him before the game? Not that I needed it anymore, but seeing him stir them boys up and jog away with a smile had me ready to fight a wild bull.

Agreed. I was really happy with the pass defense. Even with all the blitzing Flacco had plenty of time for the most part. We were obviously missing a first string RT out there, though.

RavenScallywag

should've clarified, Oher looked good in pass protection, but didn't seem like we got much on the left side running until later in the game.

Then again, we didn't get much ANYWHERE we ran most of the game.

Can you imagine if we had Q all these years like we should have? what 3rd round draft pick did we waste that year instead of taking him? Wasn't it Smith - the running back we never used?

Q was a second-rounder that year. That was the year we traded our second round pick for Boller.

Ozzie admitted it was a mistake in the press conference this year after we traded for Q.

Couldnt have said it better, these guys will kill short and intermediate. It will be almost unfair to ask a offense to try to move the ball on defense if we can control TOP like i think we can. We wont get the 38 plus every game but we have chain movers galore.

It's hard to say anyone on the OL played great, as we lost the battle at the LOS almost every snap all game. That said, Oher was perhaps the least of the problems.

Exactly. Housh too, too a lesser degree. Isolate them on a DB and throw it to their off shoulder or underthrow it and let the DB blow by.

Agree. The Jets were playing heavy against the run almost all night, I guess Rex wanted to make Joe one dimensional, that might have back fired.
Also Chester Yanda duo was not run friendly, Yanda usually pulls from RG and is a mauler, but at RT he can't really pull and tries to open the edge or push out the middle. Chester played better than I expected but he is no Yanda that is for sure and was man handled a few times, I would honestly say that if we were really trying to run all game Counsin is a good run blocker at RT and probably would have played, with him and Yanda pulling at RG or just clearing out backers the run game would have been more successful. Chester and the fact that all of the Backer's played close to the line were key parts of the ineffective run game and a Rex Ryan Defensive. Don't foget who we played, all of those games with nobody over a 100 were started with Rex here.
Will be interesting and better explained from Film's report, but thats my O2

Actually, most females understand men having man-crushes when it comes to the NFL... Wives/girlfriends mostly get that men have a weird and special bond with their favorite teams/players that simply must be excused on occasion :p

On a similar note... I have a crush on Mark Sanchez. Like, a legit one. But fortunately for Ravens fans and everyone who hates the Jets (OK, so fortunately for 31 teams in the league), he'll NEVER play as good as he looks. Maybe he can go into modeling with goats alongside Tom Brady in a few years?

Guys, "playmaker" is a term that shouldn't be used so loosely. You don't simply throw it around as though it's just any old receiver that can make an occasional catch. Are you seriously trying to put Anquan Boldin in the same category as Mark Clayton?

I didn't think so.
