Perhaps it was naive of me to think that I could appeal to the Indy Star Colts' Board and their collective sense of reasonability. Maybe those who I really want to appeal to don't participate on that board.
I bring this to your attention not to ask for you to jump over there and flame out the thread. In fact, I'd rather it stay the way it is. Maybe they can't understand our mission. Maybe it's not their fault.
The reason I bring the link below to your attention is for you to take a look and allow it to motivate you to gather together and create a solidarity in numbers that can't be ignored. And perhaps one day because of your effort in spreading the word and forwarding coltsheritage.com (http://www.coltsheritage.com/) to all those in your address book, you can walk through the Hall of Fame sporting a chest swelled with pride because you really did make a difference.
We really, really can!

Tony, as I said in the other thread, I don't blame the Indy fans for the way they feel, there were a lot of Ravens trolls on their boards. I'm sure they are sick of the whole thing and not interested in hearing reason at this point.
I know your intentions were good, but I think, and agree, that it's just best for everyone to just leave them alone.
That said, it appears that the HOF has been paying some attention after all:

I agree that it should be left alone....but let their short-sightedness fuel our mission:thumbup:

The Indy fans loathe us and everything Baltimore, so I'm not really suprised. In the last 3 months they have surpassed Steeler fans as "Most Obnoxious Fans in The NFL".

I don't get the Colts fans. Is there anyone on here that wanted the name Browns? Why they would want to be associated with players who want no part of them befuddles me:insane:

What i dont get are the [Indy Colts fans that want the Baltimore history part of the team as their own. Why? there are several posts on the that thread with them stating "we own the colts , the history, and the records." The city doesnt own them the owner does. But why wouldnt you want your own records and not stolen history?
Thats like all Baltimoreans claiming all the NY Yankees history! (the yankees were the Baltimore orioles before moving to ny in 1901)
The NFL HOF comment about needing 85 rooms to accomodate all NFL moves is BS. Its quite simple....a Colts room, but distinguished in it is the time line of players baltimore to indy..seperated. same franchise, same room, but players and superbowls listed as baltimore colts, not indy colts.
Or how about make it the Baltimore Colts room since there are no INDY colts in the HOF! then when they get one...they can add a plaque for him!

This is GREAT just what we want. Leave it alone. We need the HOF to get our message. Indy fans don't understand they got the team just leave our heritage alone. It's ours not Indy's. Just ask ART DONOVAN he has never been shy to tell you that.:kewl:

What a total bunch of misled, dilusional wussies! Maybe it's enough that we actually HAVE a history, and enough general football knowledge to comprehend what WE are trying to accomplish! It's obvious they don't realize just how great the Colt's history is, or they wouldn't equate it with the likes of the rams, or cardinals, or the texans... all of whom fall short, by a mile, of the legacy that was created here!:insane:

We can't expect Indianapolis to support our cause, because they never had a team until 1984. They could never appreciate something that was taken away from them in the middle of the night, like a thief.
I glanced at their board and saw what I expected to see--ignorant, stupid, people (not all, but most) who desperately want ALL of the history of the Colts from the inception of the team up to the present.
There is strengh in numbers; if we do our job, everything else will take care of itself. Sign the petition.
From the Sun article:
"If we had separated each franchise by every city it has ever represented, we'd have had about 85 franchises."
Bullshit, you don't need to separate by each franchise and then city, just by each city.
Thus, the Chicago exhibit could hold the Bears and the appropriate Cardinal years. The Cleveland exhibit could hold the Browns stuff along with the appropriate Rams info. And of course the Baltimore exhibit could hold the Colts up to 1983 along with the Ravens stuff. You would be down to about 40 cities if you go so far as to include Canton and the like who had teams in the very early NFL.
P.S. To that end I think the effort needs to be a call to have each CITY represented and not a call to have the Baltimore Colts in their own space. I think a Baltimore area with appropriate Colts and Ravens memorabilia is called for and would make the HOF's work a lot simpler.

"If we had separated each franchise by every city it has ever represented, we'd have had about 85 franchises."
As I read this quote in the context of B-More Ravor's linked article, it's in the context of, "We are fixing the room. The Baltimore Colts fans, we believe, will be satisfied when we are done."
They've already fixed their website, to my satisfaction anyway, as I noted above. Apparently they are fixing the 'room' also. Considering the HOF may actually be on the right path, let's not beat them up too badly.

I'm #174 on the petition
Wow, I just read thru that whole thread, I don't know what to say or think, I'm just stunned. & people say we have a chip on our shoulder in Baltimore? Look at these idiots & what they had to say.
Tony, you made a very noble attempt to have a conversation with the football fans of Indy, & it was hijacked by some real fools. You can't reason with someone who is unreasonable. You would have thought winning the SB would have finally made them happy, but these people aren't even close to happy. Even though they kept blasting, you continued to try to have a normal conversation with them, & never fell for their bait.
Hats off to you for all you hard work here, on the radio, & with the Colt Heritage site. I hope it works.

Thanks to all of you and the others that support this site, we are creating a buzz with coltsheritage.com and with each new signature presented on the petition, my resolve grows stronger.
At the end of the day, I don't care if I had anything personally to do with the HOF doing what they should -- that is present history accurately! And if they do so to our collective satisfaction, then I'm happy, no matter how we get there.
I will not however take the pedal off the metal AT ALL until we all see the changes, touch them , smell them and live them.
Joe Horrigan said:
"Baltimore's emotions are still tied to that [Colts] team," he said. "We love the fact that fans there want to see their heritage preserved. That's what [the Hall] is all about."
Preserve it accurately Joe and we'll all be happy.
Even City Councilman Bob Curran has gotten involved and will present a resolution that will be submitted to City Hall on Monday at 5PM. The resolution concludes as follows:
The City Council supports this petition to place our football heroes in their rightful context as an important part of Baltimore’s history and civic pride. The dedication to the heroes of war that graces the facade of Memorial Stadium also apply to our steely heroes of the gridiron – “Time shall not dim the glory of their deeds.”
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, That the Executive Director and the Vice President of Exhibits of the Pro Football Hall of Fame are urged to separate the Colt’s storied Baltimore history from the current Indianapolis franchise to more accurately reflect the team’s legacy and to pay tribute to those spectacular Hall of Famers who brought to their Baltimore fans many years of team spirit and civic pride and left to them bittersweet memories of balmy days spent with family and friends at the old Memorial Stadium on 33rd Street in the heart of Baltimore City.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Mayor, the Executive Director and the Vice President of Exhibits of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Ánthony Lombardi, Jr., and the Mayor’s Legislative Liaison to the City Council .
The local media has been great and in 29 hours we've collected 7,877 signatures. Imagine what we can do in 29 days....or the months leading up to the next HOF induction ceremony...
Solidarity in numbers!

It is becoming more and more understandable why the "fans" of the Indy Colts would object to a segregated space for Baltimore. Baltimore and its history with the Colts would take up about 90% of the franchise's space in the HOF since Indy's contribution to the Colts includes a Mayflower moving van and a Johnny U Jr QB who finally led them to the promised land. Indy has no real Colts "history" to reveal. Therefore the current fans must adopt the old history to make their's seem legitimate. What could anyone's argument be against historical accuracy?

Congratulations on a great idea, Tony. Hopefully maybe the league and the national media will catch on too, and start referring to Super Bowl XLI as the Indianapolis Colts' first win and appearance, rather than the franchise's second win and third appearance. Won't hold my breath on them doing that, though ...
Reading the Indy board, it's still astonishing how many of them claim they root only for the logo and don't care what city the team is based in. This isn't Japan, where teams are named after the companies that sponsor them. As (I think) you said, the city's name is in there for a reason.
And too bad some obnoxious people may have rained on their Super Bowl parade, but they brought some of it on themselves by blowing us off for so long.

I saw a link on ProFootballTalk.com on the Wednesday one liners that said
"Tony Lombardi is trying to get the NFL to separate the Baltimore Colts from the Indianapolis Colts" & it links to the article in the Sun today. So there is some national push coming. Hopefully it will move to some of the major ones ESPN, SI, CBS Sportsline.

I'm not even going to read their site.I hate them and it just gets me annoyed.
I do have a question on the subject-
Tony-
Are we tying this HOF project with the NFL records? Because to me, they go hand in hand. The Hall move would be nice, but to hear how Manning is breaking some 1958 record, or that they did something they haven't done since 1976, or how they were in their 3rd SB, is really part of the problem.
Why Indy can't start their records at 1984 is beyond me. Those f.ucksticks talk about one organization- well fine. Balt pre '84 and Indianapolis post. Sounds pretty damn simple to me. But the hall exhibit without the records doesn't do much good IMO.

Tony, you're going to become famous! Nestor coaching you? Just kidding TL. All jokes aside, this thing is gathering steam quickly! And no matter what the NFL is saying, ("we already have this in the works"), or whatever, this just may be the impetus to finally " do the right thing", and allow us to "get over it"... and shut the Freakin' Talking heads up for good!

Let me first apologize for this exact reply appearing on a few threads. I just feel in my heart that this is important and regardless of how we get there, we will all feel better knowing that the Baltimore Colts are properly presented if we are successful. And I stress WE because without all of you, I'm no more than a blabbering idiot to some who just can't get over it!
That's not what this is about. Let's convince the HOF to do the right thing for our city and the players whose legacies are now tarnished.
With that in mind, we are beginning to get some national play. I was interviewed by USA Today and they have a blog on the topic of ColtsHeritage.com. If you've already signed the petition, great. If not please do. Even if you have, go on to this blog and post your thoughts so that that can drift in cyberspace throughout the country. We can use the support of folks outside of Maryland.
