Wanting to hear what others think, I'm starting to sour on Prescott pretty badly.
On the long return (60yd) I clearly noticed some positioning on a camera angle. Saw McClain (53) as part of the wall, and real close to him was Burgess (54). Saw a Bengal blocker move slightly to seal him to the outside, solidifying the gap in the wall that the KR came through. Sure looked to me that Burgess had strayed from his lane, forming a "mini-wall" with McClain where it looked like the KR was heading.
I'm putting the lion's share of the blame on Burgess for that return (and the beginning of the slide down to a loss).
Now I find other thoughts adding to the picture, like him being traded to the Pats for a conditional 7th rd last year (and us getting him back after cut - Pats liked him enough to minor trade then after an up-close look, decided to cut him.)
I kept hearing about how he is/was a solid contributor to ST, and he may be, but I can't trust Harb's words, since Harbs is always publically rah-rah team, with complimentary things to say about players (what he thinks or says privately can be very different).
And from my impressions of noticing Burgess last year, which I started doing because of the ST hype..... to tell you the truth I wasn't greatly impressed.
I saw #54 a lot of times at the end of the play, but realized that I was seeing #54 because he was upright, arriving just as the play was hitting the ground, and the real tacklers numbers obscured in the ground pile, with #54 obviously right there because he ain't in the middle or at the bottom of the pile, he is upright or the top position.
Those of you who have gotten to know how I think, know that I don't blast the little guys, the ST'ers, I've been on Edgar's bandwagon for years, and rooted for Matt Willis, Eron.... and I don't want to sacrifice a scapegoat after the nasty loss... but am ready to wash my hands of Burgess and really want to know if others are starting to see the same things I am?
Really hoping that BA comes off the reserve PUP fully healthy and that 54 is replaced by him.
