Ok Ravens Fans you know the drill. The line is 7 in favor of the Ravens

My take: The Ravens D beats up the 1-dimensional Kyle Orton lead offense. Joe and Co build on last week's momentum and score a bunch of points
Ravens 27-10

Denver has NEVER beaten us in B-more, and I fully expect that trend to continue.

24 - 7 Ravens

Running on optimism that our offense has its Breakout game, 35-13.

Our defense speaks for its self, and we have to many matchup nightmares for their defense to handle.

Broncos run defense is suspect.

They have zero running game and are one dimensional. Passing attack is a bit inflated, IMO.

We win an easy one. 28-14 with them scoring a late, meaningless TD.

27 - 14 Ravens.

Flacco and co. will make this look easy.

JV, meet the varsity squad.

13-10 Donkeys.

If the Ravens only manage to put up 10 points against the Broncos it would be shocking at minmal!!

They put up more points against both the Jets and Steelers on the road against far superior defenses.
I'm not saying we're going to blow out the Broncos (any given sunday), but if we lose (I doubt it) it will be by scoring more points then 10.

Lemme guess...

I'm pretty sure you picked us to lose to the Steelers, don't remember your thoughts against the Jets.
I'll assume you thought we'd beat the Bengals and now you're full of doom and gloom regardingf the Ravens' chances against any team the national media declares viable.

Donkeys came in here last year 6-0, we kicked their ass and they never recovered.

We shut that passing game down (very possible) they bring in here today, we're gonna kick their asses worse then last year!!

Ray Rice gets on track today!!

Running game gets back on track...Rice tops 100 plus a TD, total team rushing is 140

Passing game...The bad news is that Anquan Boldin won't have a monster game, just 3-4 catches, 40-50 yards. The good news is that Mason/Housh/Heap pickup the bulk of the work. Joe Flacco passes for 250, 2 TDs

Kyle Orton throws for 290 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT.

Ravens 27 - Broncos 13, game is not as close as the score shows

Please don't assume, especially when you're dead wrong.

And stick to making your own pick instead of criticising mine and trying your hand at pop psychology.

23 - 13 Ravens, in a game we dominate completely except on the scoreboard.

Why the hate on LVC?

ESPN showed a stat yesterday where we are something like 3-6 after a win over Pittsburgh.

Why do the predictions on these boards have to be all puppy whiskers and rainbows in favor of the Ravens?

Sometimes I get the impression you're not allowed to pick us to lose on here. I almost always pick us to win, because I'm the eternal optimist. But it's pretty annoying when someone picks us to lose and then gets ripped for it.

Flacco progression continues. They don't lose this one and I feel that this is a big Heap/Dickson/Pitta game with the focus in gameplanning all week being the WR's by the Denver defense. I also thinking that we have a Ray Rice resurfacing after being gimpy last week. We reach the 30's today, but the Broncos may reach the mid 20's. 31-24 Ravens. If this was in Denver, I would say the other way.

RavenScallywag
10-10-2010, 09:26 AM
I agree with LVC's thinking...there is a big chance we could have a let down game here. There's a chance our #1 pass defense was helped by two backup QBs the past two weeks, plus a deer in the headlights QB in Week 1. Palmer was just average against us, but that seems to be his MO this season so far.

What I disagree with is the score...If the Ravens are going to lose today, this won't be a defensive game like a 14-10 score implies. It'd be a shootout. In a low scoring game, I'd pick the Ravens, who have the better D. Only way Broncos are going to win, IMO, is if Orton hits on all cylinders in the passing game, which would help open up their running game.

I'd just like to see a little more analysis of that score.

Lee Van Cleef

I think it's going to be a game more of mistakes and miscues more than big plays and driving offences, and weird as it sounds I think Orton will make less. Let's face it, this game is more guesswork than most; we don't have much more of a feel for what our defence actually is than the Broncos do their offence.

Edit: and I'm not sure why I have to justify my pick. Others have put down scores with no comments, no one called them out on their predictions.

Yeah, but that involves a Billick era + Harbaugh era stat, which I think is flawed. Wins or losses, I think Pittsburgh will have the same effect on the Ravens. Just looking at the Harbaugh era, in 2008 after playing Pittsburgh in the first game we lost to the 2008 Titans 10-13, which is a perfectly honorable loss. In the next game after Pittsburgh we beat a heavily favored Dallas in their house closing party. In 2009 after we beat Pittsburgh in the first game, we lost to a clearly superior Packers in Green Bay. In the next game we beat Oakland. So under Harbaugh, in the game after Pittsburgh the Ravens have beaten inferior opponents, lost to superior opponents and beat what was universally considered a superior opponent. What happened under Billick is more than likely irrelevant.

I expect a win but for some reason, I don't think it will be pretty.

17-10, Ravens, in a sloppy game.

You don't need to justify a thing. Your logic is sound.

Maybe.

But we still have a fair amount of players from BB's era, thus not rendering it totally meaningless stat.

I was just interested to see his logic because he picked AGAINST the Ravens on a Ravens board.

To expect the Ravens to lose before the game is a pretty big lack of confidence on our part. Unless someone came in and predicted the Ravens would win 67 - 1 or that the Broncos would score negative points, I'm not as interested to call out people who said Ravens would win because, to be honest, it'll all be the same..."Rice runs well, Flacco finds his receivers, our D picks on Orton"

To see a Ravens fan pick against the Ravens, I just want to know the story.

Lee Van Cleef

To me picking these things is pretty random anyway. *shrugs* if we lose I'll be disappointed, if we win I'll be happy. Whatever I say or thing before isn't going to have any bearing, so it's of no consequence.

Many of the same players; but conditioned, prepared and coached in fundamentally different ways. Buzz Lightyear may be condescending and infantalizing; but he never lets them rest on their laurels or the lunatics run the asylum.

Inactives:
Arthur Jones
Dennis Pitta
Donte' Stallworth
Jared Gaither
Lamar Divens
Paul Kruger
Scott Kooistra
Tavares Gooden

Surprised Pitta and Jones are inactive, but as I expected, going DB heavy for this one.
