. . . because if you were at the game, you didn't have to listen to the CBS announcing team of Gus Johnson and Steve Tasker. Good grief, these guys are bad. I sure hope we don't get stuck with them very often.

They do suck, but not as bad as Gannon and that clown we had last week.

I totally agree. There were a few times when the Raiders CLEARLY were short of the first down, and they immediately said "And he gets the first down!!" only to have to retract it moments later.

I had to listen via Sirius Satellite radio, so I don't know if I had them or the local crew. I think it was the local crew, because I thought I heard Rob Burnett.

I noticed that too, but my favorite was when a Ravens defender absolutely clobbered a Raiders receiver, and they went on and on about what a great hit it was, showed on replay two or three times, but NEVER mentioned who the Raven was who made the hit! Pathetic.

I also enjoyed the ridiculous amount of praise they kept heaping on the Oakland QB. I give the guy credit too, a rookie facing the Ravens defense, but they made this guy seem like the second coming of Johnny U. And his stats sucked. I can only imagine what they would have said about him if he had good stats.

I'm watching the game now and I think if that Raiders QB was in the room with those two announcers they would totally get on their knees and suck him off. I have never seen two men want to wack off another man so much in my life.

Yeah they were pretty bad. How many times did they call Musa, Jamal Lewis? I was about to throw something through the tv if they said one more thing about how great Andrew Walter is going to be.

I was stunned at how biased the announcing was too. Without the scoreboard I would have thought the Raiders were creaming us and Andrew Walter was having a coming out party. 10-27 with three picks is, uh, weak. And he still really did look better than Brooks did last week.

Oh well. Bring on Cleveland. I'm fired up this year.

Yeah, they were in love with that Walter guy. I can only imagine what they would have sounded like had he actually thrown a TD pass.

And did anyone notice one of them shouting out an ecstatic "HA-HA!" when Sapp sacked McNair?

I was at the game so I didn't have to sit thru the network dribble. My wife god bless her is not a football fan at all but tolerates our passion for the Ravens. She is even commenting on how the Ravens get no respect. She tuned into the game during the Orioles game and even said the announcers were lousy.
Pay attention during NFL promos. The Ravens rarely get into the promos. 55 points scored vs. 6 and were still second rate with the networks. Why would they send their lead announcers??
P.S NBC thinks da Bears have a better D.

We had to listend to Bruce "Bubbling" Cunnigham at the game. I like Bruce but he gets really tounge-tied with the names or ouwn players and with down/yardage.:grbac:

Keep in mind the promos and premium announcing crews isn't just about respect from the networks. More importantly, the amount of viewers a broadcast will draw, regardless of team, has much to do with the crew assignment (and probably HD availability). The Ravens just don't have the fan base many established teams have. We just aren't that interesting of a team to a national audience at the moment.

It sucks, we will probably get one of the worst crews coming up. Actually, since there are byes this week we will probably get the crap that sits on top of the bottom of the barrel scrapings. Now, the big question is "Is that this past crew or maybe even a worse one?" LOL, who knows. Maybe the crews stink too.

That's just what we got yesterday. I don't see how the next announcing team could be worse than these guys. I'm usually so into the game that I don't really notice the announcers that much, but these guys were so bad it was very hard to ignore them.

Along the same line, did anyone see Peter King on SI.com give props to "Ed Reed" for his hit on Alvis Whitted? It has since been removed...

His name is Landry...and he's coming for you next Peter!!!:179421:

I always thought I was missing out, since I usually watch the games at a sports bar that never has Ravens games sound on. But after getting this game at home and hearing the announcing, I guess I wasn't really missing anything.
