Who do we pull for in this match-up? Personally, I hate Pitt so much I would like to see them buried. However, a loss this early in the yar won't do that. Still, two losses in three games has to rattle them a bit. Also, if we shut Palmer down, I like our chances against Cincy's defense. So, I will go with the lesser of two evils, Cincy.

this is my post on the subject from the jags thread:
"while i am glad to see the steelers lose this week, i am not sure i want them to lose next week. i think it would be in our best interests if it were a close game and the bungles lost. we need both of them to pile up some losses. if the bungles go into pitt and can get a win, i think it will build their confidence up even more. allow them to pull out another win down the road that they would lose without the confidence.
just a thought. no matter which team wins, it is good for us. and now that i am thinking of it, if pitt just went on a losing streak and missed the playoffs entirely, that would be hilarious."

I am leaning toward wanting Pitt to win. With a win at CLE we are in 1st place alone. Of course either way I want them to beat the crap out of each other.

I'll repeat what I stated in the "steelers meltdown thread"
Me? I'm rootin' for Pittsburgh. Yeccchhh. I can't believe I just said that. But Cincy looks tough, real tough. Pittsburgh is going to get every team's best for all 16 games. (Plus, Jacksonville just showed the rest of the league the blueprint for beating them)
I want the Ravens to win the division, and in order for that to happen I believe that Cincy needs to falter. Our offense simly isn't good enough yet to compete with them.

Tough choice. Normally I'd say the Bungles because I hate Pitt so much, but like someone said earlier, if we beat the Brownies then we'd be in 1st place alone if Pitt wins.
So, I'll just say I'm neutral in this, although I would enjoy it very much seeing Cheeseburger and The Chin lose again.

i want pittsburgh to win. not just because we would take 1st place but because between the 2 of them i think we match up better against pittsburgh. I see the ravens having a tougher time beating the bengles down the road.

Cinci already has a division win, I am rooting for the Stealers this Sunday.

The reality is, in my opinion, the Bengals are THE team to beat his year; thus, go Squeelers. Emotionally, however, anytime the Yellow and Gold have a meltdown, it does my heart good!

Go Cincy! Here is why:
There will be 2 playoff teams from the AFCN, Cincy and Ravens/Steelers. We need the Steelers to pile up as many losses as possible so they are out of the playoff hunt. If we handle our business we can win the division, but I would rather it be a two team race than a three team race. Pittsburgh needs to be eliminated as soon as possible.

Having them both at 2-1 is better than having Pitt at 1-2 and Cin at 3-0. Cincy is more dangerous than Pitt as well. So I am rooting for Pitt. I am through with the "at least it's not Cleveland or Pitt" mentality toward the Bengals. I want them to lose just as much as the other two.

let's not forget the players that cincy is missing. thurman out for 2 more games and pollack is out for the year now. i think they have a couple others that were injured last week. they will not be full strength.

As much as I hate to say this I may have to root for the Steelers. I'm starting to think after last nights game that the Bengals may be the harder team to beat. So any game they lose will help us. I really think we can play with the Steelers this year. They miss the BUS. Howver to win the division we will have to beat both.

Pitt wins 7-0 on kick off return for TD.The combine for 9 TO's in one of the worst football games ever in the NFL.Fumbles, picks missed tackles and a total 0f 96 total yards by both teams.Sounds like that will work.

A scoreless tie that leaves both of them physically and emotionally drained would be nice.
Other than that, Pro-Steelers. Subject to change later this season, but right now the Bengals have more wins.

Definitely the Steelers this week for me. I must admit I'm really scared of the Bengals this year, they seem to have gotten their act together. Palmer is better than Ben and at this point better than McNair IMO. I think we can handle the Steelers but frankly I doubt we can handle the Bengals. SO as painful as it is..... GO STEELERS! I will resume my Steeler hatred next week.

Gotta root for Cincitucky - I'll never root for the Squeelers until they are mathematically eliminated.
Other things to ponder:
1. The healthier Rothlischeeseburger gets, the better the Squeelers will be.
2. The Squeelers are almost always better the 2nd half of the year under Cowher.
3. Going into the November 26 game against the Squeelers, we must have a better record. If they are down going into the game, the fewer bandwaggoning whore Squeeler fans will show up. Also, there will be fewer Ravens fans willing to sell their tickets to them.
You gotta knock them out early when the opportunity arises. We can take care of Cincitucky the 2nd half of the season.

It's against my nature to root for the Steelers, but in this case I think it would be better for us if they won. We match up pretty well with the Steelers, even during a crappy season like last year, but we do not match up as well against Cincy.
I probably won't pull for either team, I'll just wait to see who loses and be happy about it. Somebody is going to lose.

One of them will lose, that's the only good thing.
I won't root either way. We won't know for 10 weeks who would be the preferrable winner.
I will root for the meteor strike.

It is in the Raven's best interests for the Steelers to lose this game. It is highly unusual for three teams in one division to make the playoffs, but odds are very strong that two of the AFC playoff teams will come from our division. We want one team out of this race, and right now the best chance for that is for Pittsburgh to fall behind early. I feel much more confident taking on Cincinnati, both in games that will help decide the division winner and in the playoffs if need be. Pittsburgh's defense poses a greater threat to our weakest area, the offensive line. Casey Hampton can absolutely destroy Flynn and Vincent, allowing blitzing LBs to get in from all sides. I would count on our defense to neutralize the powerful Bengal offense before I would count on our offense overcoming the Steeler defense. While I believe we are capable of defeating both of these teams, I would rather see one of them be out of, or nearly out of, the playoff hunt by the time we come around on their schedule.
In any case, let's take care of business this week and then have a strong showing in the next few weeks, get to our bye at least 4-2 if not better, and then look ahead to the rest of the season.

LOL, This game is a win - win. No worries this week! Let them beat the crap out of each other. Frankly tho if my money were on the game I'd say Pitt pulls it out as they were spanked bareassed on MNF and those hilljacks will be ready this sunday.

This one is hard to choose. I normally hope for Pissburgh :069: to loose every game. But as has already been stated, we match up well against the Stealers, but not the Bungles. I think the Bungles have beaten us 3 in a row now. For the past few years we have split with the stealers.
I'll sit the fence and root for a tie.

I just want to see a knock-down drag-out game. I don't care who wins (even though I could never root for Pitt.). I hope they leave each other bruised and bloodied (not injured, no injury smack here) and flat wiped out.

This is tough for all the reasons stated above- That said, I just cant root for pissburgh. And Palmer is my fantasy QB, so as long as he plays well, I'm happy.

Yeah, fantasy football does make you root for the enemy at times. I have Heath Miller, and he killeb me on MNF. So it was bitter-sweet for me. Any time I play Miller I hope to see a Pittsburgh loss in a shoot-out with Miller getting a couple of TDs.

I'm not really inclined to root for either team, since with a perfect record thusfar, we control our own destiny. Lettem beat each other up and let whichever team emerges from the ashes get pimp-slapped by the Ravens...

I'm with Brandon, Gabrosin and Braven 98. I want Pigsburgh to be eliminated. (Really, I want them to go 5-11 every year, winning just enough so they don't get a top-three draft choice.) It's way too early to sweat us-vs-Cinci for the division. but since it's on the table...has anyone seen the Bengal's sched? do they have a different/harder one since they won the div last year?
aesthetically...I just CANNOT root for Pigsburgh.
I'll feed dirty rooting for either of them, but at the end of the day, I'd rather see them both 2-1 and us hopefully 3-0, rather than be tied at 3-0 with Cincy, or god forbid the Brownies pull a miracle and us be down a game to Cincy.
So go Steelers. Now if you'll excuse me while I vomit.:ralph:

Exactly...we need the Steelers to be in a hole...if they win, the division becomes a 3 team race instead of 2...if they lose (and I'm assuming the Ravens beat the 2nd worst team in the NFL this week) then they are already 2 games behind division leaders. Those wanting the Steelers to win to make the division more even are going about this the wrong way. As long as we are 3-0, it does not matter if the Bengals are 3-0.

While I'm with you guys that cannot (in good Ravens conscience) root for the Stealers, I'd like to see both teams beat the crap out of each other.
Does Big Ben start? After MNF, it looked like he was back too soon after the operation. I can't see the Chin resting him in an important game.
Perhaps its best if Pigsburgh wins to put the Ravens alone at the top, provided they beat the Clowns, which should happen.

I absolutely cannot bring myself to root for the Steelers.
Besides, (and I know this may be blasphemy) I kinda like the Bengals. If we can't win the division, I want them to win it. I'd go as far as to say that if we aren't in the Super Bowl, I'd rather have the Bengals playing for the championship over pretty much any other AFC team.
I like the way they play football- they've sort of developed into the opposite of us, so I like watching a high-powered offense every now and then. Plus, Carson Palmer's simply incredible, and it's hard not to get some enjoyment out of watching the guy play.
And, I really hate the Steelers and the Browns. Ugh.
